My game design Hot Take is that you shouldn't make a non-linear "do the main objectives in any order you want" kind of game if it just means that some players will have a messed up difficulty curve

Picked up Mina the Hollower since it was getting such high praise online. Got past the first couple boss fights (or maybe mini-boss and boss fight) but so far it's not really gripping me, the movement and combat just don't quite feel good in my hands

Got into a bit of a groove with the game yesterday and made some progress and thought "oh hey the game is starting to click with me! :D" and then I played more today and got to an area with the most annoying set of enemies you've ever seen

Ok turns out my rage quit was literally one screen away from unlocking a huge shortcut, and I've now beaten the area's story boss and am back to having a good time :P

#beat Mock Moon yesterday and was feeling pretty good #and now i'm exploring the bayou area and actually had a full rage quit moment #there are a lot of comparisons to be made between this game and silksong but this game feels so much more abrasive and unpleasant to me

I just want to add that the Romeo and Juliet references don't stop there. Romeo drank poison and Juliet killed herself with a dagger. Ruby drank the tea and Penny died by a sword. A drink for a drink, a blade for a blade. This was deliberate, especially Ruby drinking something, as we know the tree's leaves could have been consummed differently as showcased in the early episodes with the smoke.

Yes!! It also makes for an interesting role reversal, with Ruby mostly playing the role of Juliet and Penny Romeo, but their causes of death are swapped around

Also, Juliet taking her life with Romeo's dagger/Ruby finding Penny's sword in the Ever After, feels lime another interesting parallel

(I had to completely rewrite this answer because I fully thought they both used Romeo's dagger in the original, but then I checked and nope! Romeo does in fact drink poison. Huh)

It's been said before but I'll say it again. Nuts and Dolts are so Romeo and Juliet coded. I am never going to get over the way that Penny committed suicide minutes after thinking that Ruby had died in front of her, and then Ruby committed suicide One Day after learning Penny had died. They were each other's worlds

Had the realization the other day that Ocarina of Time 3D is currently older than the original OoT was when OoT3D released and it's kind of been fucking me up ever since
