“excuse me?” gaze narrowing, “i’m sure i could have come up with a better way of getting out of class that didn’t involve hurting myself, barty. really though, thank you for your feeback – quite insightful” eyes rolling before he could even stop himself. “once i find someone, yes? pomfrey is not really the first on my list – i’ve got a game to play in a few days, i’m not looking to sit it out”

          BARTY SIMPLY ROLLED his eyes at Frank. He was genuinely trying to be helpful, as he knew several people who would actually try something like that but fail in the process. Not that this guy would ever understand that, apparently.  “So what? You’re looking for an aspiring healer then?” he asked, ready to let out a long laugh at the thought.

“i’ve been looking for you everywhere,” she announced, forgoing a greeting altogether as she jumped on her cousin’s back - a surefire way to get anyone’s attention in her experience. and she needed barty’s attention. immediately. “pay attention to me, are you paying attention? you better be paying attention to me, i’m important, bart. i demand attention.” a moment later, she’s made herself comfortable, winding her arms around his neck to hold herself up as she continues prattling on “okay, i need….  three sugar quills, your history essay, two sickles because i forgot my little purse, an alibi for the next hour, and a ride to the library, since you’re already walking. OH! and a chocolate frog, i need one of those too.”

          A SMALL SCOFF escaped his lips as he felt the familiar weight on his back. “Hell, Ivy. Can you at least warn a guy first?” he asked, clearly amused more than irritated. He just hadn’t been expecting it at that particular moment. “I am now, yeah,” he asked her, while bouncing her a bit so that he could firm his grip on her. As she began to ramble though, he couldn’t help but chuckle. “What in Merlin’s name is all of this for?” he asked, shaking his head. “You feeling okay?” he teased playfully.

         THE GAME HAD seemed to go on for ages, and Barty, for one, was incredibly glad to be back in the common room. It was a bit more quiet than he was used to, but maybe that would be for the better. It would be easier to have this conversation when he could hear himself think clearly. Spotting her from across the room, the wizard made his way over to his new fiancee and softly stood beside her. “I’m sorry about the game,” he said quietly, looking her over to try to read how she was taking it. It wasn’t well, but he hadn’t quite decided if there was a way that he might be able to cheer her up yet. “Perhaps a distraction might help,” he offered carefully.

。·:✧:· NOISES BEHIND HER were scaring her a little bit too much. With the skies all dark and cloudy, ready for some rain, Emilia took a deep breath, trying to keep herself calm. She wasn’t the best at anything involving the darkness. Wrapping her arms around herself, she snapped her head around, searching for the source of the noises. The small redhead was trying to make her way back into the castle and she couldn’t see anything, let alone hear anything and it was making her a little scared. She knew she needed to be a little more brave, but how could you when you couldn’t find the doors and noises echoed and grew louder around her. Emilia knew the doors to the castle were around there somewhere, but it was just so dark. Finally hearing someone behind her, she screamed as she turned. “Was that necessary?! I’m not good with the darkness, okay!”

          BARTY HAD BEGUN to make a habit of walking around the castle at night. After all, he knew these halls well enough now to not get caught, and most of the people who would catch him knew that it was smarter for them to not. That being said, he had begun to view the hallways at night as his own private sanctuary, especially near the dungeons where he could run back to his common room if necessary. With his eyes well adjusted to the dark, Barty had seen the badger coming a good ways off, but he continued to watch before speaking just to see what exactly she was doing down here. As she pressed against the walls, he finally decided that she needed his help, so he took a step forward, only slightly expecting her surprise. “Well, I can clearly see that,” he said, shaking his head slightly as he moved towards her again. “Are you lost, dear?” he asked, licking his lips as he looked her over. He had seen her before but couldn’t quite place her name.

“i still can’t believe that muggle studies is even a class you can take as an o.w.l. what’s the point?” dolores rolled her eyes without caring if anyone around her heard. “like anyone in our world cares what muggles are doing. can you imagine spending your entire day learning about them? you might as well just admit you do nothing and your research,” she raised her hands to make air quotes around the word, “is worthless. and yet, i’m supposed to receive a grade for it?”

          SHOVING HIS HANDS in his pockets, Barty let out a heavy sigh. “Why do you bother taking it then?” he asked with a slight bit of frustration. He had heard this rant multiple times, but he couldn’t say he disagreed with her. “It’s not like it’s a required class,” he stated with another sigh.

dorcas had been running around the hospital wing for the better part of an hour. she hadn’t realized her assumption that madam pomfrey would have her hands full around valentine’s day would be so accurate - they were still dealing with some of the more permanent consequences of love potions gone wrong. out of the corner of her eye, doe saw someone walk in. “if you aren’t spouting love poems or seeing hearts in your eyes, i’ll be with you in a second.” she finished up swapping some blankets and dropping off elixirs wherever pomfrey had asked for them before she finally had a moment. “what can i help you with?”

          AS HE WALKED into the hospital wing, Barty made a point to carefully look around. The girl speaking to him wasn’t of much interest yet as he crossed his arms and began to chuckle a bit at the sight. All of these daft kids who had been convinced to take a love potion was rather amusing. When the woman spoke again, Barty licked his lips. “I’ve been experiencing a headache lately and wanted to know if there were any remedies in here,” he fabricated.

“I’m pretty sure I just dislocated my shoulder and no – i didn’t do it willingly. what kind of question is that? do i want to be in arithmancy? fuck no. i also don’t want to be in pain –” 

          PURSING HIS LIPS, Barty looked him over once more. “It’s possible that it was an idea to get out of class that backfired,” he thought aloud before licking his lips. The wizard knew he could fix it easily, but he also wasn’t sure what this guy would be willing to let him do at the moment. “You’re headed to get it fixed then?” he decided to question instead.
