This targeting of healthcare workers and infrastructure is the reason my friend Fadel needs to raise funds for medical evacuation to a hospital outside of Gaza to surgically remove shrapnel that embedded in his body during the Israeli airstrike that destroyed his home while he was inside.

Fadel (@fadel-dani) is currently struggling to afford his hospital bills. He is being treated for severe anemia and malnutrition as a result of long term food insecurity and being unable to afford his monthly medication to treat his blood disorder. I fainted today and suffered severe head injuries from the sudden fall. I'm so scared for Fadel. His family keeps finding him unconscious on the ground, terrified he has died from starvation. This winter, lack of medication and food has kept him near death unable to stabilize and recover. He was hospitalized again for severe anemia and released the day before yesterday. Today he told me his kidney hurts, and that every moment is his body is agonizing pain that he cannot endure much longer.

Fadel needs to get to a better resourced hospital to treat his injuries from the Israeli bombing of his home. Tens of thousands of people like him require urgent medical evacuation from Gaza for injuries and illness, and hundreds have already died while waiting for Israel's permission to leave.
