Ive been listening to them since self-titled came out, all because my dad bought me that record (my very first) that christmas. that’s what got me here today, almost 9 years later. i owe my love of this band to him, he was the one i discussed theories with during drops, listened to music with, and was the one adult in my life growing up who didn’t make me feel ashamed for being a hardcore fan.

now i sit here, with the box proudly tattooed on my arm, watching them start another album cycle and tomorrow will be three months without him.

one judge gave us a few outstandings, but that’s still above average :)

-don’t “light it up blue” or use the puzzle piece symbol, as both were created and popularized by autism speaks, use a rainbow infinity symbol instead

-autism doesn’t need a “cure” nor will it ever have one. it’s a neurotype and can’t be changed, and it doesn’t need to.

-the spectrum isn’t a straight line, it’s more like a color palette. everyone on the spectrum needs help in different ways, and everyone is not “a little bit on the spectrum”.

-functioning labels are inherently harmful

-asperger’s syndrome is no longer a diagnosis, and it has a really messed up history. i won’t go into it, but it has a direct tie to the holocaust.
