Hi! Don’t really have a question and I’ve been moving so I haven’t gotten around to watching the Adventuring Academy episode yet, but I just wanted to say how excited I was to see an academic who works in the south featured on Dropout!! I got my BAs and Masters’ from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and I won’t dox myself by saying where I’m getting my PhD now, but I will say it’s been difficult to adjust and I feel underestimated and left out at times. I think your work is incredible and it’s very inspiring to see Auburn given some flowers! There are so many cool, intelligent, passionate people in the South, so thank you for working there and for representing us well! My dream is to eventually make my way back and be a professor somewhere in the Black belt. I look forward to reading your book! <3
I’m excited for you to see the episode, because I specifically mention how much of a gift it is to work at a public university where many students are from not-too-far away. To be able to bring in folks (virtually & in-person) who show how to imagine new ways our world could be. It is an honor and a privilege, even (especially?) in these times.
Also we talk about how to say “pecan”
