Imagine a darling that is a parallel to Tifa? Maybe not the childhood friends thing, but they met when they were younger soldiers...

I actually intended for Domestic Darling to be a parallel to Tifa! She and Sephiroth knew each other from a younger age, back when she was a simple grunt and he was still First-Class SOLDIER. They weren't really close as childhood friends (much like Cloud and Tifa themselves) but they knew of each other, much to Darling's surprise. She was a grunt who had little confidence in herself, failing the initial SOLDIER exam, but through her missions, she slowly began to believe in herself and started doing better. She didn't think someone like Sephiroth would notice her, but he did.

To give a short definition of what IC means, here's info straight from the wiki:

"The Inconsistently Heinous villain is a type of villain who is as heinous as a Pure Evil villain, but the villain has strong preventions that bar them from being Pure Evil. These villains are as heinous as Pure Evil villains, but they have qualities that are too strong for them to be Pure Evil such as having strong redeeming qualities and/or redeeming themselves, frequently played for laughs or being a grey zoned villain."

FS really highlights the full extent of Sephiroth's abusive childhood. He's just a young kid, and he's already being horribly abused and manipulated by people who should have been protecting him. Then there's Jenova, who I suspect is heavily involved (especially with those dream sequences where she's wearing Lucrecia's face) with said manipulation and grooming of Sephiroth. That level of tragedy definitely warrants some prevention from higher evil standards.

And despite all of this, Sephiroth still retained some heroic traits and showcased many instances of humanity in his adulthood until the Nibelheim arc in CC.

And, well... At the height of the Nibelheim Incident, we still really don't know for sure if he was being mind-controlled; his behavior and robotic movements imply it, but instances later in FF7 imply otherwise when we see the man himself holding the puppet strings. And all the evidence together implies... both??? What the hell?

We only know for certain that at one point in FF7 (this time point is not specified, I believe; please correct me if i'm wrong), Sephiroth gained complete control of himself AND Jenova. This shows his culpability in the cruel acts done in his name, which would allow him to meet the criteria for a higher evil level. This is all my personal opinion, just a disclaimer.

I have no doubt Sephiroth would commit even more morally vile acts, just like his father, if it furthered his goals. But whether 7R3 will justify or worsen his current moral standing remains to be seen.

To conclude, It’s worth noting that on these moral classification wikis, different incarnations or developmental arcs of a character are acceptable to be assessed on the morality scale. Griffith from Berserk is a great example! He's classified as both Inconsistently Admirable in his earlier arcs and Pure Evil in later arcs. (I mean as Femto, the man known as Griffith is practically gone) arc. Sephiroth could easily follow a similar path, once as 7R3 (and maybe FS?) further solidifies his characterization in the franchise!

P.S Cloud got moved from Inconsistently Admirable to Near Pure Good. Maybe I'll make a post about that later.

...Yes. 😳 I just love everything thing about him. His design (I don't know what gets me the most, the sash or his fancy bracelet), his personality, his power level, his girlboss aura, THERE'S TOO MUCH TO LIST!

What I find especially interesting about him is his demeanor in the Dissidia games. He's noticeably calmer and more laid-back than his fellow Sephiroth counterparts in the FF7 compilation, which makes me curious for why the writers choose this direction for him. To dig deeper into his composed SOLDIER persona? Or is it a product of the flanderization brought on by AC that sadly all the main characters suffered from? But who knows, I actually quite like it. I find it very interesting and hot that he's holding back so much... but when he fights? It's fucking brutal.

As I said in a previous ask, this particular Sephiroth is slightly less lone-wolf than his counterparts. He makes alliances when it's convenient for him and throws them away when he's done. It's amusing how much chattier he is with everyone, too. He went on gods know how many rambles about his plans and mother to Seymour, and then decided at another point, to personally seek out Aerith just to troll her. And he couldn't help but throw his two cents on the situation of Mog being trustworthy or not when he's joining in on the Villain meet up... In 012, he's behaves almost like a mentor to Cloud at times, and even Tifa gets a tiny bit of this treatment from him too. I think my favorite moment of this trait is from the Mobius FF crossover, where he politely outlines his plan to Wol on how he will return to his own world (by destroying Palamecia, of course), all while devilishly taunting him. 😈 This man has a lot of energy to expand. Ambivert Sephy maybe?
