Hot take but, I don’t know why some people act like Remus absolutely can NOT be a more complex character while also just simply being a little shit whose thrives off of chaos for fun? I see so many takes that just boil down to “Remus isn’t a deep character and doesn’t have any motivation for doing what he does” but I feel like that’s been implied to not be entirely true?? Episodes like DWIT and WTIT suggest that he does feel at least SOME sense resentment/anger over being ignored/shut out, and part of the reason he acts out in the way that he does is to make Thomas listen, like an unloved child throwing a tantrum to get their parent’s attention. However, at the same time, he is also the representation of Thomas’s darker thoughts. The whole concept of his character is built around chaos and being the embodiment of such. In other words, I think he can also just simply be a freak who just does what he does for the love of the game also. The two don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

Confession time but when watching “Can lying be good?” for the first time, I thought Janus was being LEGIT when he told Thomas that he “has and always HAS been Patton”, but not so much in the sense that Patton didn’t exist at all, but in sort of like a “Jekyll and Hyde” situation, where Patton turns INTO Janus whenever Thomas makes questionable moral decisions, like an evil alter ego, and I was legitimately shook for like a HOT minute before they clarified he was lying 😔

Give me past mutually toxic anxceitmus with Virgil projecting his own fears and insecurities onto Janus and Remus and pushing them away/growing bitter towards them and Janus and Remus desperately trying to keep him close but their flawed/survival based mentalities leading them to believe that playing dirty is the only answer, even if that means convincing him that he’ll never be anything but the bad guy

Virgil’s past with the dark sides has always been so interesting to me because like…what exactly was their relationship like before he left? Reluctant allies? Best friends? Bitter housemates? Or a secret fourth option??
