Creative Ping Pong

Hi everyone, we’re sorry it’s been so long since our last Creative Ping Pong.  Life has a funny habit of getting in the way.

Story #7 is a tribute to our furry feline companion - the cat.  Specifically, my cat.  Even more specifically, my sister’s cat from Dublin who was re-homed with my parents, and then re-homed with me for fear of heights.

It had nothing to be with his excessive personality.  I’m sure of it.  Pixie is not exactly what one would call a LOLcat.  He’s more of a (-_-) cat.

Yippee!  Another tappable story about the importance of punctuality.

This week’s little story is a cautionary tale about your clickers, chiclets, chompers and chewers.  

This week's Ping Pong was initiated by Teressa's doodle of a feisty little blue person marching towards an unspoken goal.  I thought she was a blueberry, Teressa said she's a flower.  Either way, she's one of those impulsive, spontaneous people who dash off without thinking too much about it.

I often feel sorry for peas.

Not the ones sitting in their saltwater spas on the supermarket shelf, but the ones that were literally snapped off their stems and frozen before they could squeak goodbye to their friends.

Often, you open up a bag of these unfortunate eskimos and find the critters all clumped together, huddling in frostbitten groups for warmth.

Regrettably, I prefer these cryogenic peas to their pickled cousins. They look like the perfect definition of “green”, unlike their canned counterparts who look more like “tadpole”.

I believe the kindest thing to do is to rescue them from their Arctic suffering and help them fulfil their destiny.

Peas are wonderful pops of cheeriness that brighten any dish with their sweetness and colour. As podlettes, they lie dreaming of winning awards for Best Supporting Actor. They never try to steal the show, such are their sweet and generous natures, but always make a plate look and taste that much better.

Last night, my own Siberian refugees were exalted as Mushy Peas to accompany a chicken pie. I believe they call them “pie floaters” in Australia. Not the most appetising name in the world. Makes me think of undigested guests who’ve overstayed their welcome.

But I digress.

This is a deliciously comforting cross between a mash and a soup, and I swear I could hear the peas singing my praises in gratitude as I fell asleep.
