As I lay in wait

In a bleak ivory room.

The needle penetrates.

The blood dries.

The room blurs.

As lightbulbs brighten blindingly

Before they burst.

As my blood vessels do.

Authoritarian voices fading to oblivion

A mellifluous tune

A song

Without words

The ceilings cave

Everything fades

To

We rise before the deer wake

And spend our days

Whispering the secret language

Held in the cracks in wood

Collecting the wings of butterflies

Stained glass and webbed

And sewing them into our skin

So we glisten

With a misplaced, irridescent wonder

We catch fruit flies

With citrus peel

And trap them in mason jars

So that we might

Magnify

The mirage of freedom

For a time

We inhale the clouds

Until our stomachs puff

And dance with our reflections

In the salt water skies

Mirrored in puddles

Formed

A disquiet follows my soul

Sun, smearing over blacking day

I watch the last of the Winter lightening storms

Tearing skies to ribbons of light

With lustful stares

As time heaves on

My bottle of gin, watered down with tears,

Our amaranthine faith, iced with barren fears,

Sharing pillows and sunken dreams,

They mercifully smother those haunting scenes,

So now the dark comes, and here we lie,

Tender kisses and minds like sky,

As the dawn breaks, so do we,

You embraced me

And my body trembled

And quaked

Then as we fell together

We ruptured the earth

And our bodies ached

We breathed the air

Held in each other’s lungs

Slowly unravelled

Then entwined

When there are so many words

That words Fail me

My vision is obfuscated

By potent lies

Nestled deep

Among dusted truths

Divergent tales of life

And death

And all that cacophony in between

And all that futility in between
