Sims + Fandoms

As much as I adore custom content by creators such as @sentate, about 50-70% of what they create just does not move in a way in-game that works for me. I’ve recently had to go on a major hair culling because a part of my brain pointed out all the flaws.

I am not a high fashion type simmer, and I should not download CC as if I am one.

I outright miss how animated Sims 2 is, and if there was a mod that added in those animations into Sims 4 as alternates to the often a bit too repetitive gestures in it, I would download it in a heartbeat.

I need a robust romance system, because no challenge at all in finding a good spouse for a sim is the quickest way to kill off a family with me.

I have an Absolute Bastard neighborhood save, and it’s therapeutic to run a household where everyone’s an asshole on the rare time I need to vent spleen with Sims and not modding Skyrim.

They’re maneuvering around the house just fine - half of the household is out at work, but should be home soon. Papyrus is doing his best to be a social media presence (and generally is adorable), Edge keeps wandering around the house and doing chores, and Blue is . . out cold in his room. Sans, Stretch, and Red arrived home and pretty much all promptly left to eat food or go straight to bed - they’re tired boys, and the heat ain’t doing great things for them.  Crooks invited the Landlady out to the circus, and she said yes! And went in her pajamas.

WTF.

New expansion pack means new things to play with! And it struck me that Axe and Crooks would be thrilled with new ways to get the most out of everything they own.  So now their little household not just has a budding garden, but vertical planters specifically for herbs, a bee box, and a bug box for alternate protein.

Black tried to make friends with the bees, but they don’t seem to like him much, even going for a stinging strike while he was planting an apple tree. On the flipside, he did manage to make friends with the beetles they’re testing out as a first run for the bugbox. The household is already set up pretty well for off-the-grid living, so twelve solar panels on the roof, plus a wind turbine, and a water catcher to help with the water bill all seemed perfectly great. They don’t have a washing machine, a washer, or a dryer.  Mutt and Black have been puttering with both the wood carving bench and with the pumpkin carving bench (the pumpkins sadly aren’t the kind that can be eaten, so might as well have a fun decoration before turning them into compost).

I’m in a better place mentally than I’ve been for a while, so I fired up this neighborhood to get more done . . and what the hell is this. Who did you get knocked up by?? Also, I won’t be continuing the Sims 2 SSLL - I can’t, the game won’t load at all. BUMMER. Oh! This neighborhood is based on - with permission - ‘Skeleton Squatters And The Landlady’ by @tyranttortoise. It’s definitely taken some left turns from that story though . . . dang.

Overall that afternoon? Blue and Papyrus were glued at the hip. Not shown? The endless rounds of kissing, flirting, and hugging that happened around gossip, jokes, and playing games.

Finally getting back to this neighborhood, after a really good play session! I think I might need to start tagging these by which skeles show up, as it’s not exactly easy to keep track.

Sooo . . . this is now a thing.

I’m a Dungeon Master for an online group, and I semi-recently got permission to make sims based on their characters.  So here we go!  I do have some custom content, most prominently I have WickedWhims.  Which now has an attraction system!

So let’s introduce these nutballs to y’all, starting with the ladies/horse/not male of the party. 

Purple hair, pale skin, big ears - This is Li’Ahlil Kalina, elf witch who is in the middle of trying to court a mighty sorceress, Lina Inverse.  So far she’s made some headway, and then got distracted by an outrigger canoe. Her pet cat, Amagra, is a sphynx, still a kitten, and answers more to Meep than her actual name.

Red hair, slim build, purple freckles - Fusro Dahlin, centaur rogue and general thief of shiny things. Poor impulse control in general, but overall a good-natured sort.  Currently prone to investigating all the new electronics the house has to offer.

Blonde, pigtails, curvy build - Fado Greenhill, halfing bard extraordinaire. One half of the stab-and-sing duo that is Fado and Fusro. Picking up guitar playing on the Grim Reaper’s guitar (at least that’s what the shopkeeper said).

Brown with horns - That is Tempest, the new tiefling to the party. Usually female, sometimes not, sometimes neither male nor female.  Intent on sunbathing right now.

Dark-furred dog - Druthar, Tempest’s wolf.  He’s obsessed with barking at the tv. Usually cooking shows.

After work on the second day, Y/N headed out to go see if she can spot some of the skeles at the King’s Gardens!  Turned out to be a castle-themed walking park/garden, not actually owned/done by a king.

And there were indeed skeletons! The hours swept by in conversation with Stretch and Crooks, with Black hovering nearby like a creeper.

So, let’s cover attraction in Sims 2~

Visually it’s a pretty simple system - lightning bolts! A bolt with a red ‘X’ is negative/revulsion, no bolts is no feelings either way, and one to three bolts indicates attraction.  This can be changed as sims interact - as shown in the images!

Black decided to be a jerk and do a prank, which Y/N didn’t appreciate. As you may have noticed out of the two bars shown under his portrait, the upper one has gone down (a lot) while the lower is nudged up, and he’s no longer got the negative lightning bolt.  The upper is the ‘daily’ relationship score, which fluctuates up and down quickly. An overall positive score will gradually nudge the lower, ‘Lifetime’ bar upwards.

As you might have noticed, Sans went from a single bolt to three just sitting there eating her cooking. I don’t know why!
