Roman angst fanfic prompt (long-ish but I am really really proud of it so I hope you enjoy!!)
After POF, Roman is left in an extremely dark place. His self esteem is so low, and his self hatred so high, that he decides to do something about all the pain he believes he's caused the other sides. First he steals some essence from both Virgil and Remus's rooms, and then goes back to his own. He dumps the combined essence into a glass of water, drinks the whole thing, and then quickly goes to bed. This "potion" as one might call it, was designed to do something to him, and it succeeded in it's goal. It stuck Roman in a literal never-ending nightmare. Roman was stabbed, chased, shot, electrocuted, and put through so many other unimaginable tortures. And the worst part about it was, he couldn't get himself out. And even worse, some of the little tortures this nightmare put him through (aka getting stabbed) actually effected his actual body too.
Now, after POF, the sides don't check on Roman for a few days. They think that Roman is mad at them and they've decided to give him some space to calm down. After about a week though, Virgil decides he's waited long enough and goes into Roman's room to check on him. After seeing Roman in bed, his initial reaction is to let him sleep, but he quickly notices the crying, and the blood, and Virgil immediatly freaks out and screams for help. As Virgil tries to wake Roman up, Logan and Patton quickly enter the room, both also horrified with what they see. Logan immediately tries to stop the bleeding, but the group is quickly startled by another stab wound appearing quickly after. The group immediatly moves Roman out of his room and Patton calls for help from Janus and Remus. Janus is quickly disturbed with what he sees and Remus, while initially excited, soon becomes worried when he sees what's actually happening. Eventually the sides figure out how to wake Roman up, and Virgil and Remus manually wake him up together.
Thankfully it works and Roman is awake again, but not without a large amount of trauma over what he experienced in his week-long nightmare. After Roman is awoken, he is given loads of love and attention from all the sides to help him recover. And eventually, it actually does work.
