my 100% failproof way to handle reactionaries asking why i don’t shave at all is going “because i don’t want to” it works because what they really want is an argument about the merits of feminism, and they’ll draw it out and try to convince you it’s a cult or whatever, but you can avoid it all by sticking to “i just don’t wanna. don’t feel like it” and if they argue with you about it you can use your ultimate ability, which is “i’m sorry i thought it was a free country?” which, believe me, they cannot come back from. they’ll either drop it or start harping on something you didn’t say, and it’s important you don’t take the bait at that point. when they can’t argue with what you say, they assume your beliefs and attack those. and you crucially must be visibly baffled at their change of direction because it will make them seem and possibly feel crazy (which they are). “i don’t want to shave” is a perfect response because truly it all comes down to autonomy and the ability to do what you want. they’ll try to say “feminism makes you think you have to do that” and it’s important to not take that bait. to reiterate that you don’t know what they mean and you just don’t like shaving and that it’s really weird to look into it that deep. this works i promise

I think it’s difficult for someone who wasn’t raised Christian in a majority Christian area to understand how much Christians hate other varieties of Christians. Maybe you have an inkling of the centuries of bloodshed and discourse that has occurred between Catholics and Protestants but after that, different flavors of Protestantism hateeeeee each other. There are sects that are way more adversarial towards other interpretations of the faith (FUCK evangelicals) and others that are chill about it but one of the greatest enemies in the mind of a Christian is another Christian that doesn’t hate the things their own pastor told them to hate. Because you’re making a mockery of God if you don’t think exactly like they do, obviously, and you should know better because you have the audacity to call yourself a Christian.

This is really weird as someone who wasn't raised in Christian Nationalism. I went to a normal chill Lutheran Church where all religions were valid, so seeing so much fighting because someone is a slightly different version of Christian is crazy to me.

thank you to everyone congratulating me on getting into Yale, but I need to clear up the misconception. I did not get into Yale, I am going into my last year of high school. This was just Mail saying they’re interested in me. It’s still cool, which is why I shared it, but I need to not lie to you and let you all believe I’m going to Yale. Maybe next year :)
