I LOVE GG1s AND S1s LETS FUCKING GOOO
found ur account from the banana post and now i know what mspaint risk is. i read @yuriinullification's explainer, conceptually it sounds absolutely ridiculous and is also without question the coolest internet board game ive ever seen
10/10 intro post, easily the highlight of tonight's Phone In Bed Time
If you want to play it you can join the discord server! I don't think there are any currently open games (you can ask) but they happen frequently.
Riskcord is the home of MsPaint RISK, an online board game that blends diplomacy, roleplay, and territory control. | 175 members

Class E Asteroid intercept
After deploying a sentinel infrared telescope we discovered a class E (854-3828 tons, the largest class) asteroid, and it was on it's way to Kerbin, with a periapsis of 42 million meters, not exactly armageddon but I have never seen an asteroid in-game so I wanted to check it out.
The keen-eyed might notice I packed thousands of dollars of scientific equipment, guess how much of it works on asteroids? zero. The only thing you can do is take samples, which is really stupid, especially in a game with much sillier experiments (i.e measuring the air pressure in space thousands of km over various planets, guess what, it's always the same result) But I digress. i wasn't doing this for material gain, despite being one of the most expensive missions I've ever done.
The asteroid would enter Kerbin's sphere of influence around 20 days after discovery, and exit it only a few days later, so I built the ship and got to low kerbin orbit, from there I aligned the orbit with the path of the asteroid and planned the manuever. KSP doesn't seem to expect manuevers this many orbits ahead, so I actually had to use an autoclicker because 20 days is a ton of orbits.
This was my first time doing a rendezvous like this where I was trying to "catch" it at a specific point, I expected it to be much harder than it was. Once I arrived to the asteroid and latched on with the claw I realized the hatches were blocked.... This wouldn't do and this mission already took like an hour so I wasn't going to make a "rescue" mission just to move a little light off of the hatch, so I teleported an engineer over before sending him into the sun to make up for my crimes.
Anyway this gave me 60 science points, which is fucking abysmal for a mission like this and I will probably not visit another asteroid, but it was an exciting experience.
istg this game is so gorgeous w/ EVE and ReStock
me: do you think this train touches the overhead wires normally or do you think she gets freaky with it
train conductor who i've been distracting from my lack of ticket for 35 minutes now: y'know i think she gets freaky with it
Chiquita released an advertisement which used AI and so many comments were saying they would never eat chiquita again, and like I don't care if you eat chiquita, to my knowledge there's no organized boycott against them (if there is feel free to add to my post) but if you would stop buying from a company due to their wrongdoings then why do you even buy Chiquita in the first place??? They literally funded the OVERTHROWING OF A GOVERNMENT, how can you be mad about AI but not about funding an actual coup??
not enough ppl know where the phrase "banana republic" comes from
overhead the malignant gray skies of this last week are giving up and dissolving away in clouds like curdled cream, and a cold sun deigns to shed sundry spasmodic rays, all most aloof and icy

We really are never going to stop stripping this land bare
Note that to replace every car in the US with an EV, we would still need twice as much Lithium as has just been discovered, and that would require us to effectively mine the entire state of Maine to recover it all. EVs are not sustainable, public transport is the only way forward
They don't care about the horrific environmental impacts mining the Appalachians will have, all they care about is maintaining a status quo that will kill us all
Not trying to hijack this post or anything, but mining companies have already destroyed the environment in Appalachia, just not the northern part of the range. Coal didn’t just give us black lung and political corruption, it’s done irreparable damage to the ecological system of West Virginia and continues to do so. And now Lithium will do the same.
Highly recommend this video by Bowman TV exploring the ecological damage done to our rivers & wells:
This is what could happen to Maine. And the mining companies won’t give a shit, they’ll just fuck off when the Lithium’s gone and leave y’all to pick up the pieces.
100%, I am from Kentucky and like yeah, Coal has left this place in ruins socially and environmentally, what I am trying to say is that I don't want it to be repeated
ik this is about mineral exploitation and not foreign wars but really feels like another example of the classic:
the environmental effects mass EV adoption would have don't amount to much more than offshoring the worst of the pollution to places like China, the DRC, and (in this case) Maine.

Earthset
The Artemis II crew captured this view of an Earthset on April 6, 2026, as they flew around the Moon. The image is reminiscent of the iconic Earthrise image taken by astronaut Bill Anders 58 years earlier as the Apollo 8 crew flew around the Moon. The Apollo 8 mission was the first crewed spacecraft to circumnavigate the Moon.
For more imagery from the mission, visit our Artemis II Multimedia Page.
cant believe i havent posted any artemis II pics yet goddamn
