Annoying knitting things
Nearing the end of a long tail cast on and realizing the long tail is about two inches too short.
Patterns that donāt have row numbers.
Forgetting a yarn-over.
Yarn snobs (not everybody can afford to buy $25 skeins, dammit)
Realizing the size needles you need are the one size you donāt have.
Having to go to work instead of being able to stay at home and knit.
Splices in the middle of a skein.
Realizing halfway through a project that you really should have taken the time to make a gauge swatch.
Yarn Gothic
-Your pattern calls for size 8 needles. You have all the size 8 needles in the world, you buy extras to teach people. You go to grab a pair. There are no size 8 needles.
-Your scarf is 3 feet long. Itās been 3 feet long for a month. No matter how much you knit/crochet, it will always be 3 feet long.
-You made a gauge swatch. It is perfect. The project youāre working on is nowhere near the right size. Your gauge still matches.
-You find the perfect yarn for a pattern youāve been wanting to make. The craft store doesnāt carry it. The local yarn store doesnāt have it. It may have been discontinued years ago. It may never have existed. You no longer remember where you learned about it.Ā
-Youāre running out of yarn on a project and go to buy more. The dye lot number is different. Is it close enough? Maybe. Pray to the yarn gods, they are sometimes gracious enough to grant small prayers.
-You vow to only buy yarn for planned projects, your stash is getting overwhelming. It doesnāt matter what you plan, your stash will still grow without your help.
-You have yarn you bought for a project once.It didnāt work out and now it sits in your stash. Forever. There will never be another project thatās right for it.
-You took up spinning to curb your yarn habit. Your yarn habit is now your fiber habit and you have dual stashes. You may never actually make anything out of most of the yarn you spin. Both stashes continue to grow when youāre not looking.
-Your wip basket has things in it from years ago. Youāve forgotten about them. Youāve forgotten the patterns. Youāre not sure you ever made them in the first place.
-Somehow your 3 foot long scarf is finally long enough. You run out of yarn before the end.
Books are the best. They take you to faraway places, and make you feel more at home in the world. They introduce you to new things, and deepen connections with the things you love.
But not everyone has the opportunity to own new books. Over 44 percent of the nationās childrenāmore than 32 million kidsālive in low-income households without access to age-appropriate reading material and educational resources.Ā
Weāre partnering with First Book for the 5th year in a row for our Give Books campaign, and our goal is to donate 30,000 books to children in needāand we need your help!
Take the pledge by reblogging this post, and weāll match each reblog with a book donation.Ā

Books have been such a huge part of my life that I find it difficult to imagine not having them- it's such a great cause to donate books to children who would otherwise go without!

Chevron blanket number 2 is underway (number 1 is blocking as we speak!) I carried over the coral and off white colours from the first blanket - the grey was out of stock, so I picked a slightly different grey for this one! #knittersofinstagram #knittedblanket #chevronblanket #knitting #handknit #cascadeyarns
Frustrating #sewingday today! It took three attempts and most of the day to get the facing right for the dress I'm making- ughh! #sewingproblems #dressmaking #sewing
One sleeve down, one to go! A cropped Miette Cardigan, to go with the dress Iām making. #knitting #knittersofinstagram #handknit #miettecardigan #knitpicks #knittedcardigan

This was my second charity raffle knitted hat- this one was the Elfunny Beret/HatĀ knitted in Fyberspates Vivacious. I dont buy this yarn often, but the colours are always amazing!

I knitted a couple of hats for a charity raffle- this was the first one, which was knitted from the Diamond CapĀ Ā pattern in Rooster Almerino.
The yarn was lovely- Iād definitely use again!
Some closeup on cute stitch work on my Feathernest Raglan- Iāve actually knitted most of the body, so Iāll just have to take some more photos in a bit!
More timelapse, more priming and a bit of first coat painting!
While we were rennovating the dollshouse, my brother took a couple of time lapse videos- this is the outer shell being primed

My current knitting project is a version of Purl Beeās Jasmine ScarfĀ that Iām knitting for a Christmas present for my Gran.
Itās done in purple acrylic aran yarn as my Gran is allergic to wool based yarn and knitting it in aran has meant that Iām only doing 3 pattern repeats to make sure itās not too wide.
Itās a nice pattern to knit, once I got the hang of dropping and picking up stitches.Ā
Unfortunately, personal things that have happend in the past few weeks have also meant itās a really difficult project to keep going on with. Iām perservering, but my tension has been all over the place and sometimes it feels like itās a bit of a slog. Itās tough because I want to finish it, but there are days I would rather put it away and never finish it.
Your ideas are beautiful and your crafts have all turned out beautifully. I love your vintage rustic style and I find your page to be very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creativity. :)
Thank you very much for your kind words- it's been a tough couple of weeks, but your comments have brightened my day :)
