I think they are wonderful!!

They've been in my top 10 favourite crab species for a long time, and it's almost entirely because of the fact that they have infrastructure built specifically for them

No more car centred infrastructure, we demand CRAB CENTRED INFRASTRUCTURE!!!

Of course, the bright red hue and iconic bulky exterior certainly helps with their placement.

I also like that because they migrate across the island, they migrate together. I like the herds :3

They're sensitive, and not a very great idea for first time crab owners!

I had a few Vampire Crabs as my first, because they were all I was able to get (crab selections are quite limited in a landlocked area). I did a pretty decent job taking care of them, I had done 2 and a half years of research on crabs at that point.

One day, I came home to all of them dead. While I was out of the house that day, my mom had decided she needed to rearrange everything in their tank. The simple act of moving their stuff released a bit of dirt into their water, and killed them over the span of a few hours.

Because of my mom's inexperience with crabs, and lack of knowledge on particularly Vampire Crabs, my consortium died.

If you are inexperienced with crabs, have a handsy younger sibling, or live with someone who acts like a handsy younger sibling, I do not recommend Vampire Crabs.

If you're dead set on getting the same size crab, I personally recommend Red Dwarf Crabs. They're a bit hardier, and are (in my experience) just as common as Vampire Crabs.
