there’s something about the way the way that shoko demands it that makes quanxi want to follow the command, a stark difference to her outward demeanour. a frown paints her face, corners of her lips downward as if she’s completely miserable with asking for help. her stance refuses to reflect how she feels, arms behind her back and spine vertical.
it’s not often that quanxi gets injured to the point of no return. as the infamous crossbow devil, pouring fresh or stagnant blood into her mouth will often revive those parts of her that feel like they’re dying, and will change the outcome for good.
but something changed to prevent that from happening.

strange. it is so very strange how a consciousness built to understand itself can still work against instinct. how some of us still find ourselves idly twiddling our thumbs when we are most desperate for help. some cry out into the wind; others force their pain back down their throats, unwilling to reconcile with their own weaknesses. @creationofcontrol, for one, resembles a cornered cat as she hunches in the threshold of her forlorn apartment - nothing but bared fangs and creme - coloured fur bristling skyward. but shoko is no stranger to her kind; people who ( likewise! ) live in their own time zone, too proud for their own good yet too spent to johnny bravo their way through life. she supposes she has grown rather fond of her indifference. at the very least, she has made peace with it … ( after all, everything's easy peasy when you've made a habit of not caring enough to begin with. )
quanxi's submission is instantaneous, and shoko suddenly wonders how one is meant to approach a skittish animal. she decides the answer lies somewhere in the furrow of her brows. well,-! you win them over, that is what you do. it settles the moment her fingers find purchase beneath the bone of her jaw, keeping her still as she takes her in.
“mh- i can help you.” the offer is stale, like a piece of bread left out too long under the sun. “isn't that why you're here, bow? surely you didn't drag yourself out in the middle of the night, bleeding all over my doorstep, just to stand there and look pathetic, did you?” then comes the restless tap-tap-tap of her foot against the ground. what a drag. . . the poor woman really can't catch a break. “ - siiiiigh - come on in. i was hoping to get some rest and not have to play doctor for once, but. . .” her eyes trace the gaping wounds splitting through quanxi's skin. “you're my exception tonight.”

“you and your - huff - big mouth. . .” there is a peculiar sort of drama in watching her most rational thoughts coalesce, only to unravel beneath the inexorable weight of her own arousal. “you must really like hearing yourself talk. why am i always the one paying for it?” much to her annoyance, shoko realizes that cockiness looks good on him. most people would make a fool of themselves trying to pull off that kind of confidence. it is, after all, a luxury very few can afford, but ryomen - fuck. . . he is a natural. “that's just the bare minimum.”
she hates how good he is at this. the way they trade honeyed taunts until he's carved out a place for himself in this warm cocoon of tangled sheets ; in every corner of the room, in the involuntary flutter of her hips, too. for all that she embodies an impasse, shoko also hates how weak she is in the face of so many other things. the wolfish look in his eyes. the weight of him between her legs, rife with the certainty that control belongs to him and him alone ( ... ) everything is sickeningly sweet, sinking low into the mouth of her stomach.
finally, restlessness gets the better of her, and shoko catches herself pursing her lips into a sardonic little pout. “ah, i wasn't aware we were here to admire the scenery. . .” she nearly hisses, curling her fingers into the tenderness of his pink roots ( if it stings, all the better-! ). the curve of her hips - famished and impossibly lonely - rise to meet his lips halfway. his kisses feel good, very much so. just. . . not good enough. but he knows, and she knows he knows. touche! two can play that game. “might as well make myself comfortable then, yeah?”
the heel of her foot drifts in a slow, teasing line down his spine before nudging the back of his shoulder with deliberate insistence. “playing with your food is bad manners, though.” she punctuates the words with a flourishing tsk. “thought you knew better than to tease when i'm in this much of a hurry. breakfast is getting cold, ryo.”
Megumi watched with narrowed eyes as Yuuji made the bed screech with agonised protest - he has far too much energy - and then settle in with the dogs.
Cute. His traitorous brain supplied, which he firmly elected to ignore. Not today, thank you.
"A strain?" He asked flatly, arms folding over his chest as he settled back again, just observing the way the dogs seem to be just as pleased to have Yuuji's company as he is to have theirs. At least nobody is growling, or yelling. "Have you even done anything?"
He supposed it could be something else, but he was fairly sure they'd all done.. effectively nothing today. Then again, Yuuji was known to be dramatic at times.
And then came the second shoe dropping, the regret that came with giving in to his friend's whims. More questions.
"What? No I don't give them treats," anymore, "they're not real dogs, they're shikigami." But the mention of pizza seemed to get them excited. Damnit Itadori.
"You can deal with the consequences of telling them that." He decided. This was not Megumi's problem, thank you very much.
“wha- hey! fly down, you boring square.” needless to say fushiguro's spurious accusations somehow hit the bullseye, and yuuji is left a sputtering mess of furrowed brows and narrowed eyes far too big for his face as his attention snaps back to him. “i'll have you know i did plenty today. i'm exhausted! look at my eyebags- look. d'you see them? that's proof my schedule is packed.”
and despite the ridiculously over-the-top, high-octane state of the west middle tiger ( courtesy of the two little fluffballs clinging onto his ribs) he is telling the absolute truth. gojo - sensei has been working him to the bone, and every new mission feels like it's slowly chiseling away at his sanity. what a stroke of good luck it is, then, that itadori yuuji is built like a tank when it comes to stamina - giving up and waving the white flag has never once been on the table. nope.
“so what?” he huffs at last, burying his cheek into kuro's fuzzy neck - the warmth of it a miraculous panacea for his frazzled senses. it is almost endearing ( and funny! ) how easily he can get them all riled up over something as simple as scraps of old food. then again, he's not exactly immune to that sort of thing, either, so. . . “shikigami can't eat good food? what's with that? you're making them work overtime, man. i think they deserve to know what ( stale ) heaven tastes like.”
“ah- i almost forgot. kugisaki turned me down,” no great shock there- “so i thought i'd give you a shot.” oh-! there he goes again. “there's this new movie i really, really wanna go see.” his eyes are twin pools of sunlit copper when they wander over, half-lidded and pleasantly dazed; it makes him all the more difficult to refuse. “wanna come with? my treat.”
