Dirty Peanut Cosplay

San from Prince Mononoke for 2017! After taking more than a year off we worked hard to create a new cosplay to wear to March of the Nerds with the Queer Nerd Alliance in the Long Beach Pride Parade. This has been on my list for years. Mask, fur and loincloth by me. Spear, dagger, necklaces, makeup and photography by Troy. 

Some build notes:

The spear and dagger heads, and teeth on the necklace are made with InstaMorph. We posted some in progress pics. It's super versatile.

The mask itself was made with paper mache clay. One thing I've learned with the clay is to do everything at once. I made the base mask first, let it dry and then added on the raised details, but the dry base ended sucking in moisture from the new wet clay, and warped the mask a little bit. But overall very easy clay to work with and much better than regular paper mache. I then just painted it with regular acrylic paint and sealed with mod podge.

Finally did a photoshoot with my Young Justice Robin cosplay! This is the first finished pic. Posing is hard! More to come later :)

Fix-it Felix cosplay with my hubby as Wreck-it Ralph at Bent-con 2014, second day I went solo as my Young Justice Robin again, with new addition of the white mesh mask. We had a ton of fun and will definitely be attending again next year!

My Demon Kurama 妖狐蔵馬 (from YuYu Hakusho 幽☆遊☆白書) cosplay debut at Anime Expo 2014! Featuring a fun quick battle with Prince Zardoz of Voltes V by Micvee Cosplay. Was not able to get the death plants done in time and I need to practice more on my posing. But overall had a great time. The cosplay hall at Anime Expo is really something!

Second outing this weekend with my Young Justice Robin (Dick Grayson) cosplay! This time at LA Pride 2014. Had a time great marching in the parade with the fine folks of Bent Con. Ben Con founder, Sean Z. Maker, was fierce as genderbent Maleficent!

Amaterasu Cosplay at Bent Con 2013 by Dirty Peanut

My Amaterasu cosplay got a giant brush upgrade and made an appearance at Bent Con 2013. I placed third in individual cosplay! It was a great event and I can't wait to attend again next year.
