Genie of the Lamp

   “Soooooo, how was the honeymoon?” In a puff of blue smoke, Genie transformed into his version of Mrs. Potts. His high toned Betty White impression steamed out of his spout. “Spill the tea, dear.”

   “Festival of Fools? Can’t pass that up!” Looking to the nearest friendly-looking Parisian, Genie somehow felt comfortable speaking with her. It helped that today of all days, his natural appearance was more socially acceptable, enough so that he might attend a party without magic. “Wait... think they’ll let ME in? What’s the prize if I win? Ooooo WAIT! Don’t tell me! I get to take home one of the BELLS, right?”

    “Okay, I gotta know: do sand witch’s sandwiches taste like sand or are sandwiches made by sand witches sans the sand? OR, are sand witches so superb at sandwich assembly, their sandwich strengths soar above their sand witch skills? Which wich is it?” 

   “A prosecutable crime? No. A fashion FELONY? Yes.” As always, he was joking. The Genie himself didn’t have room to talk, since he floated around bare chested most of the time. It was true, Aladdin moved around a lot more than your average prince. Usually they lounged about to be waited upon hand & foot- but not his buddy Al! He was too busy saving Agrabah from dark sorcerers, mechanical beasts, & even killer bees! “Aaaalright fine, you’re off the hook... but the jury is still out on that fez & vest combo.”

   “Um, ex-SQUEASE me, but... what are THOOOSE?” Circling his best friend, Genie picked at Aladdin’s homely rags. After going through all the ‘trouble’ it took to turn the ( once upon a time ) street rat into a prince, he couldn’t help but wonder why on EARTH the boy would switch back to his old clothes. “Laundry day? Or did Rajah mark his territory again?”
