Krolia and Keith scheme up an “impossible” task to try and hold of his suitors.

Stringing a bow. But the bow not only takes strength but knowledge.

Lance heard them talking about this and worried that the task is to easy goes to attempt it. He strings the bow.

He takes it to them like “Keith you’ve got to get a new challenge.”

At first Keith is thrilled. Lance not only attempted (meaning he wants Keith) but he succeeded. He gets to marry Lance.

He runs over and hugs Lance and is so excited “I was hoping it would be you.” He’s looking at Lance so fondly until the words catch up to him. Lance wasn’t trying to win him he was just proving he could accomplish the task.

Everyone around them is making a fuss about Lance stringing the bow and Lance is realizing that ‘oh he kinda just won Keith’s hand in marriage.’ And he’s excited because this whole nonsense of suitors coming for Keith has really opened his eyes to how much he truly loves his stupid mullet. He fells Keith pull away and starts to turn excitedly to talk to his now fiancé! When he sees a sad look on Keith’s face

Keith tells him that he appreciated him showing that the task could be done but he could put the bow back now. You don’t have to do the second part of the challenge seeing as your not looking to marry me’

Lance is standing there confused because “wait but you just said-”

“I know,” Keith cuts him off before looking back at him with the saddest eyes “I just thought you wanted me.”

The second part of the challenge was to shoot through 12 axes cleanly. A difficult task with even the best rifle but with an old bow near impossible. Lance doesn’t hesitate to line his shot up and clear it on the first try. He’s the sharpshooter for a reason.

Keith was always sensitive to quintessence.

He can feel the blue lions call from miles away even though it isn’t his lion.

Red will come for him from a distance.

He has the strongest bond with his lion up until the lion switch.

But the whale takes that and jumps kicks it. Yes Krolia still gets them to but no where near the frequency or detail that Keith does.

He brushes up against someone and gets a flash of their past or their future.

They are trying to form a plan of action when suddenly Keith will stop moving and talking and get this far away look in his eyes. Only to snap back with a gasp moments later and drastically change whatever plan they had. Snapping back from a vision from the future of one of his friends dying

It first happens once the battle with Lotor is done. It’s a surprise to everyone as it’s the first one Keith’s had outside of the whale.

One moment the group is relaxing and liking their wounds. Trying to figure out what to do next.

Suddenly Keith freezes. He was mid-sentence talking to Pidge when suddenly all movement stops. His eyes are glassy and far away, he’s obviously looking but not seeing what’s in-front of him.

Pidge freaks out. Shiro (one of her big brothers) was just discovered to be a clone, Lotor a maniac, and they lost the castle ship (their home) and now Keith (anther brother to her) has completely frozen and stopped responding.

She calls out to the other, panicking “somethings wrong with Keith!” The other scramble over to them. Krolia quick to her son’s side while the others circle around.

Lance, seeing as Shiro is down, Allura is reeling from all that’s happened today, and Keith is the one is trouble, takes charge of the situation.

“What happened?”

“I don’t know. We were talking and then suddenly he just froze up”

He’s still breathing and doesn’t seemed to be in distress. He’s just frozen. He’s not responding the them in anyway.

Until suddenly he gasps. His eyes going wide and he’s whipping around trying to get his bearings. He’s breathing hard and Lance and Krolia moves to stabilize and support him.

“Keith! What was that? Are you okay?” Lance was trying to catch his friend’s eyes and Keith snapped his head to him and locks eyes.

“They’re going to earth! The Galra! They’re going to attack earth! They’re going to kill Adam!” His breaths are panic as he tries to communicate the horror of his vision.

Lance feels like the floor has open up below him. “What?”

After panic and confusion. Krolia explains the visions in the space whale. How they had been blasted with visions of both the past and the future.

Since they spent two years on the space whale, it must have warped Keith connection to quintessence. Add that to his natural sensitivity to quintessence and his connection to Voltron, which enhances his abilities. This equals to a Keith how now gets visions from the universe.

The group is quick to decide to head to Earth. Coran tells them it would take a year and a half to get there and the whole group is distressed. They don’t have that kind of time.

Lance remembers how they got up here. That the blue lion created a wormhole all on its own. No teladuv or working castle ship.

Allura has always wondered how that was possible since only an Altean should be able to open one and that in a lion it would take an incredible amount of power. Power she might have now but after saving Shiro she needs time to get that energy back.

Time Lance can’t imagine waiting. His family is in danger. That was the whole point of fighting this war. To keep his family safe. He looks at Keith, who is more shaken that Lance has ever seen (he’s hiding it well from the others but Lance has always been able to read Keith) and he knows that the vision was so much worse then Keith is telling them.

They have to get to earth now!

But he doesn’t know what to do. Everyone starts packing up. Wanting to get moving as soon as possible with the trip as long as it will be. Keith takes a moment to walk over to Lance.

“Lance. I was thinking about what you said. About the wormhole that brought us here in the first place.” Keith pauses trying to find the right words. “It was just us. No alteans, not castle, just you piloting Blue.” He pauses again Turing to look up at the red lion.

“You know Red’s always been over protective of her paladin. I think- I don’t know maybe if you reach out to her. She might be able to open a wormhole home.”

Lance looks at Keith in surprise. “Why don’t you ask Black then? Or Pidge and Green? Or Hunk and Yellow. I mean your all a lot better-” the then I am dying in his tongue as he looks down.

“What are you talking about. You’re an amazing Paladin, and you’re the only one who’s gotten a lion to one a wormhole before. Not even Allura can do that.” He moves forward to place his hand on Lance’s shoulder. “Just give it a chance. The worst that can happen is it doesn’t work. Besides if anyone can pull this off it’s you.”

“Thanks Keith.” Lance smile at Keith and goes to thank him when Keith’s eyes go all glassy again. “Keith?”

Moments later Keith snaps back to himself with a gasp. His body lurching forward as if someone just struck him. The hand on Lances shoulder tightening its grip as his form starts to tremble.

“Keith! What is it? What did you see?” Keith straightens up to lock eyes with Lance again.

“It’s Sendak. He’s the one attacking Earth.”

“Don’t you mean he’s the one who will be attacking Earth?” Lance asked as he placed his hands on Keith’s sides to steady his shaking friend.

“Lance” Keith looked so scared and vulnerable “on the whale I had visions of the future and the past. I have no clue which I’m seeing now.”

Lance felt ice flood his veins. “So everything you’re see could have already happened?”

Keith couldn’t meet his eyes anymore “yes”

Lance take a moment to feel the horror of this all. Earth could already be at Sendak’s mercy before pulling himself together. For his family, who needed him to come save them, and for Keith who must have seen something truly horrific in his vision.

“Then there’s no time to waste. Let’s go home.” He makes a split second decision to pull Keith in for a hug. “We’re going to save them.” There was no other option. Not for Lance. Not when he had sacrificed so much to keep his home safe.

They separate slowly, lingering in a moment not meant to stretch.

Then there is yelling. Something is wrong with Shiro’s pod. Lance can see the fear and anxiety flood Keith system. He gently cups Keith’s face drawling his focus back. “I’ll get the others ready to leave. Go take care of Shiro.”

It’s exactly what Keith needs. The stress of the last few hours. Lotor, Shiro, clones, the battle with Lotor, his visions, and now Shiro’s in trouble again. Lance stepping in to take weight from us makes it feel like he can breath a little.

Keith rushes off to Shiro begging him to fight, to stay alive.

Meanwhile Lance helps Hunk and Pidge ready to go. He checks in on Allura and Coran to make sure they are ready. He makes sure Romelle has a place to go, she’s riding with him. She had wanted to stay with Keith and Krolia but Black was pretty full with Keith, Krolia, the wolf, and Shiro’s pod. Lance offers her a ride. He understands that she’s the odd one out right now and boy does he know how that feels.

Once they know Shiro is going to be okay. They’re ready to take off. Lance takes a moment to breath. He focuses on his bond with Red. ‘Please. I need to get home. Please help me protect my family.’

Let us protect our pride, Son of A-

Lance misses what Red was about to say when he heared Romelle gasp. In front of them is a wormhole. Lance smiles in relief ‘Thank you’ he sends to his lion.

“Lance! You’re-” Romelle is gasping and pointing at his face. He had expected her to be pointing at the wormhole but she’s looking straight at him. “Altean!”

Lances brain short circuits for a second. “I’m what!!!!”

When Lance was talking to red and asking for a way home his cheeks started to glow with the altean marks. His family had Altean blood as some escaped to Earth to hide a few centuries ago.

They head back to Earth and get there just in time to join in on the first firefight with the Galra. There are still casualties but Adam is not among them. The damage to Earth is far less than it is in canon.

Adam and Shiro reunite and recover together.

It is still a long fight as Sendak is determined to take the planet and keeps coming no matter how many times they push him back until finally Shiro and Keith end him once and for all

Keith is still having visions. Some are of the pasts of the people around him. Some are glimpses of the future.

He and Lance finally figure themselves out a get together. While Lance is introducing Keith to his family Keith gets hit with a vision. Lance explains what’s happening as he holds Keith’s hand and waits for him to come back to himself. It doesn’t take more than a minute. Lance braces himself for some horrible news, but Keith jumps up and runs straight to the kitchen. Everyone wonders why until he opens the kitchen door just in time for a pan in the stove to ignite. Someone had left the stove on and now there is a fire. Keith puts it out with no panic or surprise. Once the fire is handled, Lance walks up to him. “So your vision…” -Lance “house fire”-Keith.

Needless to say the family finds him weird but endearing.

Shiro: “alright guys safety briefing”

Pointing at “lover boy” Lance - “don’t add to the population”

Pointing a Keith ‘stab first question later’ Kogane - “don’t subtract from the population”

Pointing at Allura and Coran - “don’t end up in the hospital”

Pointing at Hunk ‘I take over restaurants for fun’ - “newspaper”

Pointing at Pidge ‘hacks government data when board’ - “or jail”

I’m putting Keith in Princess Zelda’s role. Because he’s the one who leaves the team.

I’m putting the rest of Voltron as a mix of Link and the other sages.

Now spoilers for TOTK as I will be using it for plot elements.

The Voltron crew arrives on a planet to help them out. The come thinking it’s the Galra causing problems, and while there are some on the planet whatever is happening here is having a negative impact on them to.

They find out that there is an illness spreading on the planet. Anyone who interacts with Gloom, this dark sludge like substance, becomes sick for days and depending on the exposure can die. The Gloom seemed to be coming from underneath the castle.

Allura, wanting to help the people, offers for the Voltron paladins to check it out. They suit up, helmets on, and head down. They find a passage underneath the castle with all these strange carvings telling the history of an ancient war, though the ending is covered up with stones. They head farther down where they find a corpse like creature being held down by a glowing green hand.

The hand loses power falling to the side, as it does so a stone (a Secert Stone) falls off it and slides to Keith’s feet. He bends down to pick it up and it starts to glow gold.

Before anyone can comment the corpse starts moving. “Keith” it calls as it straightens up. Everyone is on the defensive now taking a slight step closer to Keith

“how does it know your name?” Pidge calls in concern.

The corpse continues its body straightening as it speaks “and you must be the rest of Voltron. Shiro, Allura, Pidge, Hunk, and Lance.” He calls looking at each member as he does so. “To think Rauru put his faith in such pitiful creatures” he then launches an attack straight at Keith. Shiro gets in between his brother and the blast but it results in the destruction of his Galra arm. Lance takes a shot at the creature and it grazes its cheek drawing blood. The creature laughs at them before releasing a large amount of power, raising the castle above them up into the sky and causing the ground under them to give way.

The ground under Keith gives way first causing him to fall. Lance jumps after him and almost catches his hand but the arm from before latches on to Lance stoping his momentum. He watches as Keith falls into the depths below a gold light surrounding him before he’s gone from sight.

The arm lets out some magic of its own and takes the others to an island in the sky.

Lance wakes up to see the others all safe and sound but no Keith in sight.

Shiro wakes with a new arm, the arm from the cave now taking the place of his Galra arm.

They all find that their bayards have been corrupted by the gloom and no longer work.

As they look for away off of the sky island they find a small golden portal. From it they hear Keith’s voice asking for their bayards. They trust him and place their bayards through. The portal closes but it’s enough to have the group hopeful that Keith is alive somewhere.

The crew learns that in order to defeat the demon king they need to awaken 6 spiritual sage by claiming their Secret Stones.

This is where I need some help. The sages powers canonically are:

Water

Fire

Wind

Lighting

Spirit

Light

Time: Keith.

Keith is already filling the role of time. Where does everyone else go?

I think Allura should be light, Shiro as spirits (they guy has died enough to earn that)

Lance is all passion: fire. But he’s also someone who tries to keep people calm: water.

Pidge is lightening. He’s being able to supercharge tech is a great idea.

Hunk, there’s no ground or earth option. I was thinking Fire as it’s used by the goron (rock people)

And then whatever is left is going to Coran because he deserves to help. He’s the most excited about all of this. (He’s deeply worried about Keith but he finally gets to fight along side the paladins.)

As they unlock their new abilities they also find hint that Keith has left behind for them.

Keith fell back in time. He’s now 10,000 years in the past with no way home. He’s helping the Royal family and trying to find a way back.

This is where I need to decide if this is just a random planet and use the names of characters from the game or make it a full au and make the king Kolvian and the Demon King Zarkon.

Anyway the demon king attacks killing all of Keith new friends and only being stopped by the sacrifice of the king’s life. Devastated at the death of his friends and knowing that thing is going to awaken again. That that thing is going to face Voltron next and likely kill them all to, he’s desperate for a new au to get back to his team, a way to help.

Along his journey he’s learned that a weapon steeped in the Secert Stones holy light will gain the power to injure the demon king. The bayards, with their connection to Voltron, have some of this holy power as Lance was able to damage the demon king. But it’s not enough. The power that they need would have to soak into the weapons for centuries and Voltron doesn’t have that kind of time.

But Keith does. Using his limited control over his new time powers he calls out to the team asking for their bayards. Once he pulls them back to the past he has to find away to keep them around an active Secert Stone.

In the past he was also told that if one was to swallow their sacred stone they would transform into an immortal dragon. Doing so with enhance their power but cause them their humanity.

Keith knowing the consequences, swallows his stone before he transforms he grabs the bayards with the hope that his team will find him in the future.

He transforms into a dragon the bayards becoming infused to the crystals on his back, being infused with holy power for the next 10,000 years.

The team has seen this dragon flying around the whole time, but they don’t know it’s Keith until they all unlock their Secret stones. The team is devastated.

Shiro just lost his little brother. Yes he’s alive but he’s completely out of reach.

Lance and Keith were dating, he’s lost his boyfriend. The love of his life.

Pidge has lost her bother. He might not be Matt but he has earned his spot by her side. He’s family and now he’s gone.

Hunk has lost his friend. Keith might not have said it often but he cared deeply for the team and he and Hunk were quite close. Add in the fact he’s his best friends boyfriend and the two spent a lot of time together.

Allura and Coran have just lost 1/5 of their new family. They’ve already lost everything before now they are losing more. Allura considered Keith her best friend. Things were rocky when his heritage came to light but it pushed Allura to grow and become a better person.

Keith is gone and he can’t come back. The only thing they can do is to stop the person who took him. Keith made the decision to become an Immortal Dragon but he wouldn’t have had to if the demon king didn’t exist.

Occasionally the group can’t out run the Galra commander that wants to propose to Keith.

Zethrid suggests just stabbing them and running. Keith Axca and Ezor are in but Allura pushes for diplomacy. (Kolivan does to… for the polite ones)

Shiro tries to act like a responsible adult but his big brother instincts is ready to tackle everyone of these Galra who think that they can use his baby brother to farther their political career.

Lance is all for stabbing. Maybe if Keith stabs enough of them they will stop (they won’t they think it’s hot) Lance is also willing to shoot any suitors Keith wants him to.

Pidge and Matt are just hacking any transition so that they cut out anytime a suitor calls to propose to Keith (put in the effort to show up in person)

Hunk for the first time is thinking about poison food. Not like to kill them but definitely to make them sick.

But truly the only thing I can think about is that one of the Galra that proposes to Keith is just the Mister Colin’s proposal from Pride and Prejudice.

Where they just go. I singled you out as my mate, but before I propose let me tell you my reasons

It’s part of the job… marrying you

It will make ME happier

My boss/superiors desire that I marry you.

And Keith just has to sit there and listen to him go on and on and then they guy is just like great I proposed and now we can get married and Keith just looks at him like he’s crazy because “I never said yes!”

And the guy ignores him and keeps talking.

Where after everything is said and done; Allura lives, Lance takes time off to be with his family (not a farmer, just a break). Lance and Allura break up shortly after the war. They both realize they were two hurt people trying to find comfort in each other, but Allura was using Lance as a rebound and Lance realizes they both deserve better. It’s mutual and only a little awkward.

Keith is helping the Blade of Mamora make the transition into a relief group.

He’s taken on a leadership position (along side Kolvian and Krolia)

Acxa joined as well and together they convince Ezor and Zethrid to join.

Note: I wish more people added them in post canon fics. I think it’s so funny that they are now Keith’s squad. And I think there is a lot of fun that can be had with those relationships. Whether wholesome as Keith unknowingly expands his found family, or angst as the girls compare their new lives to their lives with Lotor, but that’s another post.

Anyway Voltron has their one year post war meeting. And Keith is telling everyone about the Blade work and how they are working with the rest of the Galra to figure things out.

Lance teases him about them asking Keith to lead and Keith turning it down. When Keith confirms, they all laugh.

Everyone stops laughing when Axca, Ezor and Zethrid show up running towards Keith.

Keith is out of his chair in an instant. He’s worried something horrible has happened. Is Krolia hurt? What about Kolvian? Did something happen with the blade? There are planets with extreme prejudice against the Galra and they’ve had attacks against their relief teams before.

He’s not ready for what leaves their lips.

Apparently after Keith refused to lead, no one has been able to gather enough support to become the leader of the New Galra government. Keith was an easy pick because of his connections to the Blade, Voltron, and the Atlas. He has valuable connections and experience. No one else can gain the over all support he did.

And you know he’s also pretty. Like unfairly so (for a halfbreed) and somehow the remaining candidates come to the conclusion that whoever can gain Keith as their mate will be the one to lead the New Galra Empire.

After all if Keith doesn’t want to lead he doesn’t have to, he can just sit on the arm of whoever is leading. Give the people reassurance that they are in good hands.

So now at least 15 different Galra, from members of Zarcon’s old regime, to High ranking Blade members, anyone who wants to lead the Galra, are making their way here to try and court Keith and or force him into Marriage/Mating.

Shiro is instantly in over protective Big Brother mode. They need to get Keith out of there.

Kolivan and Krolia had sent Axca, Ezor, and Zethrid for that reason and to back Keith up if he had to fight.

The rest of Voltron is moving to try and help Keith.

But Lance

Lance is a mix between indignant for his friend who has somehow become a trophy for people to win. Enrage that there is talk about people trying to force Keith to mate them. And also a burning need to keep Keith safe.

But there are also old feelings. He’s mature enough now to know he’s had a crush on Keith for a long time now. And now Keith is apparently the most desired bachelor in the universe!!!

Anyhow I think you can have a lot of fun with this

You can have Keith dealing with a lot of stupid/rude proposals

Gossipy Girl squad. They’d do anything for Keith but they are also going to mock each of these horrible proposals

Jealous and protective Lance

Big brother Shiro

Maybe even bring in the Lions being protective

You can also go the route of Lance just declaring that he and Keith are engaged/courting.

He’s trying to get everyone to stop bothering Keith.

But it puts these two, who have been pinning for each other for years in a fake dating situation.

Also Lance suddenly is enemy number one for anyone wanting to ascend to the Galra thrown.

I just think it’s a fun idea

Also as someone who listens to epic the musical my brain is cooked because “No Longer You.” Is a Shiro song

Shiro meets a prophet before returning the earth the first time, back in his time as champion. The prophet tell him his future and Shiro not sure what to think of this crazy rambling alien.

“I see a song of past romance” he thinks the prophet is referring to his relationship with Adam.

“I see the sacrifice of men” Shiro thinks of the gladiator arena.

“I see portrays of Betrayal” this is harder for Shiro to guess but he thinks of how he attacked Matt in the arena.

“And a brother’s final stand.” This line makes his heart jump thinking of his younger brother Keith. But that can’t be. The prophet must be talking about ‘brotherhood’ between warriors. Keith isn’t in space (yet)

“I see you on the brink of Death. I see you draw your final breath. I see a man who gets to make it home alive but it’s no longer you.” And Shiro accepts that he probably going to die out here. But hopefully this means either Matt of Sam will get home.

Shiro gets pulled away and doesn’t hear the rest of the man’s prophecy to clearly. He won’t recall it until it’s far too late.

When Shiro arrives back on earth and then rockets right back up to space to become a paladin, he slowly remembers this man’s prophecy. He’s trying to shake it off. After all he made it home and the prophet said he wouldn’t. It doesn’t matter he was there for less than 24 hours he made it home once he can do it again.

But Shiro is so wrong about what the prophet was talking about

“I see a song of past romance”

“I see the Sacrifice of men” Lance’s death and the genocide of the Alteans

“I see portrays of Betrayals” the betrayals of Lotor and Shiro’s clone

“And a brothers final stand” the fight between Keith and Shiro.

“I see you on the brink of death. I see you draw your final breath. I see a man who gets to make it home alive. But it’s no longer you.” Shiro dying in the fight with Zarkon and then having his conciseness being put in his clones body. It’s no longer “him” who gets to go home

Also the last part of the prophecy

“I see your palace (planet) covered in red” the invasion of earth

“Faces of men who had long believed you’re dead” all the people at the Garrison who believed Shiro died.
