talk that talk | a. theory
summary: monroe jay and austin theory are the it couple, well, only when the cameras are on. but it's time for that to change.
warnings: none, fluff
word count: 1.1k
author's note: as usual, excuse my lower case tendencies, I'm literally just a girl. still working on the anti one shots! so this is just a fun little work to hold ya'll over. x
austin theory and monroe jay are a formidable duo. no one can deny the energy they exude when they step out on the screen. monroe is a powerhouse but doesn't wrestle (at that moment) so she acts as his valet, securing win after win for him. it just works, and it wasn’t bad that they both found each other attractive; they’d never cross that line though. why ruin something that is going so well with romantic feelings?
in the ring, austin is resting his back against the turnbuckles with monroe leaning back on his chest. they pretend to be asleep, bored by kevin owens’ entrance. monroe’s fingers are intertwined with austin’s, playing up the relationship for the cameras like they usually did.
got a austin theory fic cookin up 🤗
i’ve been watching a lot of interviews where dom says he wants to have a family n stuff and couldn’t stop thinking about dom x pregnant wife reader where he has to deal with her weird cravings, constant mood swings (from yelling to crying to laughing in the span of seconds), and morning sickness and how he’d be the most caring and loving husband during all of that 🤏
oh baby.
dominik mysterio x fem! reader
summary: when you started your hiatus, all you were expecting was rest but everything changes when you find out you’re pregnant.
A/N: OH WE ARE SOOO BACKKK. this is longer than I expected but I genuinely was in flow state anyway guys im rlly going to try to clear out my inbox so expect some old requests published!!
you’d taken hits harder than this.
you’ve been thrown from the top rope, the air being ripped from your lungs as you crashed onto the mat. slapped against steel steps so hard your vision blurred, ears ringing while the crowd roared like it was nothing.
you’d been slammed spine first into the canvas, pain blooming white hot across your back while you forced yourself to roll over, get back up, keep going and put on an entertaining performance.
pain was natural to you. after years of being in the industry it had become familiar.
but this?
nothing, nothing, had ever made your hands shake like they were now.
you stared down at the small plastic stick resting on the bathroom counter. it felt impossibly light for something that can change your entire world.
your heart can be heard in your ears, loud enough that it almost drowns out your own breathing.
two pink lines.
your knees weaken, and you sink onto the closed toilet lid, your eyes trained on the test not believing this was real.
“no way.” you whispered. “no way, no way, no way.”
you’d known something was off.
for the past couple weeks, your body hadn’t felt like yours. you were tired in a way sleep didn’t fix. certain smells made your stomach turn. your emotions were… weird. unpredictable.
you hadn’t even told dominik. it felt silly at the time. irrational.
yet it had bothered you enough that, one afternoon, you’d stopped at the store grabbing not one, but two tests.
now you were sitting here, one positive test in your hand and the other still unopened on the counter, your entire life shifting beneath you.
your career flashes through your mind in pieces.
the sweaty ring gear, bruises that would form after hours of training, the rush of adrenaline when you walked out of the gorilla and heard the crowd. everything you had achieved.
you were on a hiatus. you had decided to step away for a bit. your body needed it, you needed it. years of pushing yourself, of sacrificing, of fighting through injuries that never fully healed.
and now, your body was doing something else entirely. something extraordinary.
you and dominik had talked about this quite a few times. It came up spontaneously sometimes as a joke or in times where it felt like it was just you and him in this world.
his hand tracing lazy patterns on your skin.
“someday.” he’d murmur against your shoulder. “when we’re ready.”
you’d smile, pressing a kiss to his collarbone, imagining it in soft, distant ways.
it had always felt far so away. but now it wasn’t.
your chest tightened.
a soft knock broke through everything.
“amor?” his voice came through the door, gentle but concerned. “you okay in there?”
you wiped your face quickly, staring at the test one more time.
you opened the cabinet under the sink, not really sure what you were doing.
your thoughts were moving too fast for you to keep up with.
and then your eyes landed on a small random decorative box. something you hadn’t touched in months. you didn’t even think about it, just grabbed it, your movements shaky and rushed.
you placed the test inside carefully, like it was something fragile and closed the lid.
taking a deep breath that didn’t quite steady you, you stood up and opened the door.
dominik looked up immediately from where he was, concern written all over his face. “hey- what happened? are you okay?”
“yea um..” you walked over to him slowly and held the box out. “here.”
he blinked, confused. “what is this?”
you shook your head a little, your eyes already glassy. “just- just open it. please.”
he hesitated, looking at your face, trying to read you. but something in your expression made him take it seriously.
but he took it, carefully. he lifted the lid his eyes confused for a moment then he froze. completely.
his entire body went still, like time had just stopped around him.
his eyes locked onto the test inside, his fingers tightening slightly around the edges of the box.
“no way.” he breathed. your heart was pounding so hard it hurt.
his gaze snapped up to you, wide and searching, like he needed you to confirm it. like he couldn’t trust his own eyes.
“are you serious?” his voice cracked. “is this real?”
you nodded, tears already spilling over. “yeah.”
his face broke instantly, his emotions hitting him all at once. a shaky breath left him, almost like a laugh, but it didn’t fully form before his eyes filled with tears.
“we’re-“ he paused taking a second shaking his head slightly. “we’re having a baby?”
you covered your mouth, nodding again as your shoulders started to shake. “yeah.”
he set the box down quickly, like he couldn’t hold onto it and you at the same time.
and then he stepped forward, his hands coming up to your face, holding you there for a second like he needed to see you.
“hey.” he whispered, even though his own voice was unsteady. “come here.”
he pulled you into him immediately, wrapping his arms around you tight, protective, and grounding.
you clung to him just as hard, your fingers gripping his shirt as the reality finally settled in.
you were both crying actually crying. no holding it back, no pretending.
“holy shit,” he breathed into your hair, his voice breaking completely. “holy shit… this is real…”
you nodded against his chest, your tears soaking into his hoodie. “i know.”
you pulled back just enough to look at him, both of you a mess- tear-streaked, overwhelmed, but smiling through it.
his forehead pressed against yours, noses brushing.
“you’re pregnant.” he said again, quieter this time, like he was grounding himself in it.
you let out a shaky laugh. “yeah.”
his thumb brushed under your eye, wiping away a tear that didn’t stop another from falling.
“we’re gonna be parents.” he murmured.
_
the doctor’s office is quieter than you expected.
soft beige walls, the faint sound of the lights, a muted TV mounted in the corner playing something neither of you are paying attention to.
you sit in the waiting room chair, your hands folded over your lap, foot bouncing despite your you trying your hardest to stay still.
dom sits right beside you, your knees are pressed against each other. he hasn’t let go of your hand since you checked in.
his thumb moving back and forth over your knuckles in slow, grounding strokes, like he’s trying to steady both of you at once.
“you okay?” he asks softly, leaning in.
you nod, then exhale a smile coming over your face. “just like super nervous.”
he gives a small smile. “me too.”
that alone makes you smile.
this is the same man, who walks into arenas with thousands booing and heckling him, and he looks more anxious here than before any match you’d ever watched him wrestle.
when the nurse finally calls your name, dominik stands immediately, then helps you stand. his hand tightening around yours.
the exam room is cool, the paper on the table crinkling beneath you as you sit back. dominik takes a seat in the chair next to the table, his hand finding yours again.
he watches everything, every movement the nurse makes, every word she says like he’s afraid to miss something important.
“first pregnancy?” the nurse asks kindly.
“yes.” you answer.
dominik nods along, like he’s the one being asked.
the doctor explains everything calmly, reassuringly, and then reaches for the ultrasound machine.
“alright.” she says. “I’m going to apply some gel. It might be a little cold.”
you barely have time to process that warning before you flinch slightly, a quiet gasp slipping out at the cold touch against your skin.
“sorry.” the doctor says with a small smile.
you let out a nervous laugh, your free hand instinctively tightening around dominik’s.
he leans closer immediately, his chair scraping softly against the floor as he moves in, his other hand coming to rest lightly against your arm. “you’re okay.” he murmurs, voice low and steady.
your eyes flicker to his for just a second, grounding yourself in him before looking back at the screen.
the screen flickers to life as the doctor moves the probe, and suddenly the cold you’re not even worried about the cold.
for a moment, it’s just static. a bunch of shadows and shapes you can’t quite make sense of.
your heart starts picking up again, your mind racing until the doctor tilts the wand slightly.
“there we go…” she cooed softly.
a small, flickering movement appears on the screen.
you blink. “what is that?” you ask softly, almost afraid to speak too loud.
the doctor’s smile widens. “that-“ she says gently as she turns the screen slightly toward you both. “is your baby.”
you feel dominik freeze beside you.
his hand stops moving against yours completely, his grip tightening just a little as he stares at the screen like he’s afraid if he looks away, it’ll disappear.
“and this-“ the doctor continues, adjusting one last thing on her end. “-is the heartbeat.”
you hear it before you fully process it a fast, steady rhythm fills the room.
your breath catches and your eyes instantly fill, tears spilling over before you can even stop them.
“oh my-“ your voice breaks, a soft laugh mixing with it. “dom…”
he doesn’t answer right away.
you turn your head.
and your chest tightens all over again.
because he’s crying.
quietly, almost like he doesn’t even realize it.
his eyes are locked on the screen, glossy and wide, his jaw slightly clenched like he’s trying to hold himself together but failing.
“that’s…” he exhales, shaking his head faintly. “that’s ours?”
the doctor nods softly. “that’s your baby.” she smiles as she collects her clipboard. “everything looks perfect, your baby looks healthy. I’ll go fill out some paperwork so you guys can get on out of here, have a great day and congratulations.” she leaves closing the door behind her.
you squeeze his hand, and that finally snaps him out of it just enough to look at you.
the second his eyes meet yours, something in his expression just breaks open completely.
he lets out a shaky laugh, leaning forward until his forehead presses gently against yours.
“we made that.” he whispers, like he can’t believe it.
you nod, tears still falling, smiling so wide it almost hurts. “we did.”
he lifts your joined hands, pressing a quick kiss to your knuckles before bringing his other hand up to your face, brushing away your tears with his thumb.
“you’re doing so good.” he murmurs softly, voice thick with emotion.
you laugh quietly through your tears. “i’m literally just laying here-”
“yeah.” he interrupts gently, a small, breathless smile forming. “but still.”
his eyes flicker back to the screen again, like he’s already attached in a way he can’t explain. and he doesn’t let go of your hand for a second.
-
the first few weeks after that appointment feel almost unreal. like you’re living in something soft and glowing and slightly chaotic all at once.
like every little moment suddenly means something.
like there’s this quiet secret sitting between you and him, even when you’re just brushing your teeth side by side or watching TV with your legs thrown over his lap.
he looks at you differently now. not in a huge, obvious way-
just softer and more careful. he was aware of you before but now he’s constantly aware of you.
and every now and then, his hand will drift to your stomach without him even realizing it, thumb brushing lightly over your shirt.
the cravings hit first. and hard
it wasn’t gradual or subtle. they just… took over.
one night, it’s almost midnight and you’re standing in the kitchen, the fridge wide open, the cold light spilling out across the hardwood floors.
you’ve been standing there long enough for the motor to hum louder, for the air to start feeling too cold against your legs but you don’t move.
you’re staring like whatever you crave will appear if you just wait long enough.
dominik walks out of the room rubbing his eyes and leans against the doorway, arms crossed, one shoulder pressed to the frame.
his hair’s a little messy, t-shirt wrinkled, clearly pulled out of bed but he doesn’t look annoyed.
just mildly concerned. and amused.
“what are you looking for?” he asks, voice still thick with sleep.
you don’t answer right away.
your eyes scan the shelves again. leftovers. drinks. fruit. none of it right or what you wanted.
then, very calmly you spoke. “pickles.”
he squints a little, pushing off the doorway and stepping closer. “we have pickles.”
you shake your head immediately, not even looking at him. “not those pickles.”
he opens the fridge door wider, leaning in beside you now, inspecting like maybe there’s something he’s missing. “what’s wrong with those pickles?”
you finally turn to him, your expression completely serious. borderline offended. “i don’t know, they’re just not right.”
he blinks once then twice, really processing what you’re saying. “…okay.”
he straightens up slightly, rubbing the back of his neck as he tries to make sense of that. “what kind of pickles are right?”
you hesitate, like it’s obvious but also impossible to explain.
“the cold crunchy ones.”
he glances back into the fridge. then back at you.
“baby they’re all cold-”
you just look at him.
he pauses then sighs softly. a soft smile on his face as he reaches for his keys on the counter. “i’m going to the store.”
you nod, closing the fridge like the decision has finally been made. “thank you.”
he stops for a second before walking out, looking back at you. “do you want anything else while i’m out?”
you think, tapping your fingers lightly against the counter.
“chocolate?” you give him a sympathetic look.
he nods. “what kind?”
“i don’t know.”
“it’s okay.” he says as he moves toward you gives you a kiss on the head. “i’ll figure it out. sit tight ill be back in a bit.”
and then he’s gone.
when he comes back, the door shuts a little louder than usual, like he’s juggling too many things at once.
you look up from the couch just in time to see him walk in with a grocery bag in each hand.
“dom- what did you-“
he sets everything down on the counter, slightly out of breath. “okay. so.”
he starts pulling things out.
one jar of pickles.
then another.
then a third.
“three?”
he nods, very serious. “you said the cold crunchy ones, but you didn’t specify brand, so i got options.”
you can’t help the small smile forming on your face.
then—
chocolate bars.
a bag of chocolate.
chocolate-covered strawberries.
even those little assorted boxes.
you stare.
“…dominik.”
he shrugs, a little sheepish now. “you said you didn’t know what kind, so i just— got a variety.”
there’s a pause.
your chest tightens in that soft, overwhelming way it’s been doing a lot lately.
“you didn’t have to do all that…”
“i know,” he says simply. “i wanted to.”
he twists open one of the pickle jars, handing it to you like it’s the most important thing in the world.
you take one bite and instantly your whole face relaxes.
“those are the ones?” he asks carefully, watching you like your answer actually matters.
you nod, already reaching for another. “yeah.”
his shoulders drop in visible relief, like he just passed some kind of test. “good.” he mutters.
then, out of curiosity, he grabs one himself, taking a bite and immediately regrets it.
his face scrunches. “why is it so-“
you immediately burst out laughing.
and he can’t even finish the sentence before he’s laughing too, shaking his head as he tries to chew it anyway.
-
it’s early.
too early for the sun to be fully up, just that faint gray light slipping through the curtains.
you’re still half-asleep, curled into the blankets, one arm tucked under your pillow, the other resting loosely over your stomach.
everything is still.
then it hits you all at once. that sudden, overwhelming wave of your stomach turning, your throat tightening, your body going tense before your mind even fully catches up.
your eyes snap open. you sit up too fast, the room spinning slightly as you press a hand to your mouth.
beside you, dominik shifts a little, still asleep, his breathing slow and even, one arm stretched out where you were just laying.
you glance at him and he looks exhausted. then you remember, he has a flight later to go back on the road. he needs the sleep.
so you don’t wake him.
you just push the blankets off quietly, feet hitting the floor as you stand, one hand braced against the bed for a second while you steady yourself.
another wave hits, stronger than the last. you don’t waste another second.
you rush to the bathroom, barely making it before you drop to your knees in front of the toilet.
it’s rough.
your body shaking slightly, one hand gripping the edge, the other pressed against your chest like it might help.
the sound echoes louder than you’d like in the quiet apartment. you squeeze your eyes shut, breathing uneven.
“okay… okay…” you whisper to yourself, voice weak.
it feels like forever.
even though it’s only minutes.
when it finally passes, you just stay there for a second, leaning your forehead against your arm, breathing slowly, trying to calm everything down.
you don’t hear him at first, not until there’s a soft shuffle in the doorway. “hey.”
his voice is quiet and gentle. you turn your head slightly.
he’s standing there, hair messy, eyes still heavy with sleep but wide with concern now.
“why didn’t you wake me?” he asks, already moving toward you.
you shake your head weakly. “you need sleep, you have a flight…”
he doesn’t even acknowledge that.
he’s already kneeling beside you, one hand immediately going to your back, rubbing slow, steady circles.
the other gently gathering your hair, holding it out of your face like it’s second nature.
“i don’t care about that.” he murmurs. “i care about you.”
another small wave hits, and he stays right there, not letting go for a second.
“i got you.” he repeats softly. “i got you, just let it out.”
when it finally eases again, he reaches for a damp cloth, pressing it gently to the back of your neck.
you exhale, eyes closing briefly at the coolness. “i was trying not to wake you.” you mumble.
“cute but don’t do that again,” he says quietly, not harsh just firm in that soft way he gets.
you let out a tired, breathy laugh.
he helps you sit back a little, his hand still resting against your back.
“this sucks.” you whisper.
he nods slightly. “yeah, i bet.” then softly he goes, “but you’re not doing it alone.”
you smile at him, “thank you baby.”
“of course.”
-
you’re at home, the apartment still in that mid-afternoon hush, sunlight pouring through the windows in soft gold streaks.
your hiatus has made everything slower. and your apartment had been so much quieter now that dom was back on the road.
your days were mostly spent with more time resting, more time just existing.
right now, you’re stretched out on the couch, a blanket draped over your legs, one hand absentmindedly tracing small circles over your stomach as you scroll on your phone.
a sudden, unfamiliar feeling flutters low in your stomach which makes you freeze.
your thumb stoping mid-scroll. “wait.”
you press your hand down a little more, eyes widening slightly.
and then it happens again. it’s soft, but unmistakable.
our breath catches. “oh my gosh.” you sit up slowly, heart already starting to race, your other hand coming to your stomach like you might miss it if you don’t hold it there.
another small movement. sronger this time and that’s when it fully hits you.
your phone is back in your hand before you even realize it, already tapping his contact, already hitting factime.
it rings twice before his face pops up on the screen.
he’s already backstage, you can tell immediately. the noise is faint in the background, voices, movement, but he’s tucked off somewhere quieter.
the second he sees your face, his expression shifts. “hey amor, everything okay?”
you’re smiling too wide, eyes already glassy. “the baby just kicked.”
“what?”
“the baby just kicked.” you repeat, a small laugh slipping out.
he runs a hand through his hair, blinking like he’s trying to process it. “like right now?”
you nod quickly. “yeah- it like just- it happened-”
“can you-“ he shifts the phone, already moving like he’s about to leave wherever he is. “can i see it?”
you flip the camera positioning your growing bump in the camera. you poke your stomach gently, waiting.
but it doesn’t happen again, you both wait a few seconds.
you glance back at the screen, a small, apologetic smile forming. “i think it stopped.”
he nods slowly, trying to smile back but it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. you flip the camera back to show your face. “okay.”
he looks down for a second, jaw tightening just slightly, like he’s trying to push something down before it shows.
you notice immediately.
“hey-“ our voice softens. “what’s wrong?”
he shakes his head at first. “nothing.”
you give him a look, it was the same one you gave him in the kitchen.
the one that means don’t do that.
he exhales quietly, leaning back against the wall behind him, running a hand over his face. “i should’ve been there.”
your chest tightens. “dom-”
“i mean it.” he cuts in softly, not angry but frustrated with himself. “i should’ve been there for that. that’s like- that’s the first time, you know?”
“i know.” you say gently.
he laughs a little, but there’s no humor in it. “and i’m backstage, worrying about a match when-” he stops himself, shaking his head.
you can hear it now. the guilt in his voice.
“hey baby.” you interrupt softly. “look at me.”
he does and you can see that his eyes are a little heavier now.
“you’re working-” you say. “we both knew that if we ever did have a baby, this is what it would be like.”
“yeah, but talking about it and actually living it are two different things.” he admits, quieter now. “i don’t want to be a dad that’s never there for things.”
that hits you hard, because that’s not him. not even close.
you shift a little on the couch, sitting up straighter. “you won’t be that dad.”
he doesn’t answer he just looks at you, like he wants to believe it but doesn’t fully.
“you’re doing what you love dom. what i love and most importantly it’s for us.” you continue softly. “for our family. that matters.”
his jaw tightens slightly. “yeah, but what if i keep missing things like this?”
“then i’ll call you.” you say immediately. “every time.”
he lets out a small breath.
“and when you’re here,” you add, your voice softer now, “you’re here. completely. you don’t half-do anything, dom. not at work, not with me. and you won’t do it with this baby.”
that finally gets through a little. you can see it in the way his shoulders drop, just slightly. “i still hate that i missed it.” he mutters.
you smile gently. “i know.”
there’s a small pause. then you place your hand back over your stomach.
he watches you for a second, then nods slowly.
“you promise you’ll call me again?”
“every single time.” you say.
-
the gender reveal was supposed to be small. that was the original plan.
when you and dom had started talking about the reveal it was just something simple, close friends, a little cake, nothing too overwhelming.
but the second you and dominik started naming people, it turned into something a little bigger and louder a little bit more you guys.
liv and austin had insisted on putting it together, which immediately meant it wasn’t going to be that small but you trusted them.
and when you and dominik pull up to his parents’ house, you already notice the cars lined along the street, the soft sound of music drifting from the backyard.
you glance at him, a small smile forming. “this is definitely not small.”
he huffs quietly, squeezing your hand. “yeah- i mean they didn’t even try to pretend.”
he comes around your side immediately, opening the door and offering his hand to help you out, one arm steady around your waist once you’re on your feet.
your stomach is big now. it’s noticeable and huge despite how early on you are- and dom he’s careful without even thinking about it, guiding you slowly toward the gate that leads to the backyard.
“you okay mi amor?” he murmurs.
you nod, already feeling that soft warmth build in your chest. “yea baby, I’m great.”
he smiled at you. “let’s do this then.”
you smile back nodding. he pushes the gate open and the second you both step out into the backyard, cheers erupt.
“there they are!”
“finally!”
clapping, laughter, voices overlapping as everyone turns toward you.
you freeze for a second, completely surprised.
the backyard is decorated beautifully with soft pink and blue streamers hanging along the fence, balloons tied to chairs, tables set up with food and drinks, string lights draped overhead even in the daylight.
it’s not overdone or overwhelming. it’s simply perfect and full of people you love.
liv and austin stand front and center, both grinning, rhea and tiffany nearby already waving you over, nattie and maxine smiling wide, dom’s friends calling out to him, and his family- his parents and sister as well as your family. all of them standing close together, watching you with so much love.
your hand comes to your stomach instinctively as you take it all in.
“oh my gosh.” you breathe.
dominik’s hand tightens around yours, the other still secure at your back. “you like it?”
you turn to him, eyes already glassy. “i love it.”
he smiles instantly, relief flashing across his face.
before you can say anything else, liv is already making her way over, barely containing herself.
“okay, i might’ve gone a little overboard!” she says, laughing.
you shake your head, pulling her into a careful hug. “no no- it’s perfect. i love it so much.”
austin daps up dom, bringing eachother in for a short hug. “thank you guys for doing this seriously.”
austin nods proudly from behind her. “told you they’d like it.”
and he’s right. because standing there, surrounded by everyone you two loved it.
the next while is easy.
you move slowly around the backyard, talking, laughing, hugging people one by one.
rhea pulls you in first, careful but firm. “you look good.”
you laugh. “i feel huge.”
“you are,” she teases lightly, then softens. “but in a good way.”
tiffany compliments your dress immediately, nattie checks in on how you’re feeling, maxine talks excitedly about baby clothes and names like she’s already planning everything.
on the other side, dominik gets pulled into conversations with damian, jd, austin, and grayson—but even while he’s talking, his eyes keep flicking back to you.
every time.
and eventually, he makes his way back over, slipping his hand into yours again like it belongs there.
“you okay?” he asks quietly.
“yeah,” you smile. “this is really nice.”
he nods, glancing around. “they did good.”
“they really did.”
—
after a while, austin claps his hands together loudly. “alright, alright- let’s get to it!”
liv points toward the center of the yard where two small smoke canisters sit ready.
“everyone gather up!”
people start forming a circle around you and dominik, phones coming out, voices buzzing with excitement.
your nerves kick in again instantly.
you look at him. “okay… now i’m nervous.”
he squeezes your hand, stepping closer so your shoulder brushes his. “me too.”
you laugh softly. “great.”
liv hands you one canister, austin hands dominik the other.
“on three.” austin says, grinning. “you both pull.”
“okay…” you mumble, staring down at the canister in your hand like it might explode any second. “okay, okay-”
dominik lets out a quiet breath beside you, his shoulder pressing more firmly into yours. his free hand comes up for a second, brushing against your arm in a small, grounding touch before finding yours again.
“hey.” he says softly, leaning just enough so only you hear, “whatever it is… we’re good.”
you look at him, and the nerves don’t disappear, but they loosen. “we’re good.”
“ONE!” austin calls out.
the crowd quiets just a little, anticipation thick in the air.
“two!”
you tighten your grip on dominik’s hand, your heart pounding so hard it feels like everyone can hear it. he squeezes back instantly.
“three!” you both pull and for a split second, nothing happens leaving you both confused.
and then smoke bursts out, thick and fast, curling into the air between you.
everyone bursts out cheering. you blink, trying to see through the haze, your brain taking a second to catch up-
you gasp looking up at the pink smoke, your hand flying to your mouth as tears instantly well up in your eyes. “oh my-“
you don’t even finish the sentence before you’re turning to him, laughing and crying at the same time.
“dom! holy shit-”
he’s already looking at you, eyes wide, something soft and almost disbelieving breaking across his face before it melts into pure happiness.
“we’re having a baby girl?” he breathes, voice shaking just a little.
you nod quickly, tears slipping down your cheeks. “yeah- yeah, i-”
he pulls you into him immediately, arms wrapping around you in a tight, almost bone-crushing hug yet still careful, one hand instinctively coming to rest protectively at your back.
you bury your face into his shoulder, laughing through your tears as you cling to him just as tightly.
“i know,” he murmurs, pressing his cheek against your hair. “i know, baby… i know.”
he pulls back just enough to look at you, both of you smiling like you can’t stop, even as tears keep falling.
“i’m so happy.” you say, breathless.
“me too.” he answers instantly, softer this time. “so much.”
he leans his forehead against yours for a second, like he needs to stay right there-
before the noise of everyone else comes crashing back in.
liv is the first to reach you, literally bouncing as she throws her arms around both of you.
“oh my god!!” she shrieks. “i knew it, i knew it!”
austin’s right behind her, clapping dominik hard on the shoulder before pulling him into a quick hug.
“let’s go, man!”
then it’s everyone.
rhea wraps you up next, squeezing you tight but careful. “you’re gonna be amazing!” she says quietly, and you can hear how real she means it.
you nod against her, still smiling. “thank you.”
tiffany hugs you right after, rambling excitedly, nattie follows with something softer, grounding, maxine practically vibrating as she talks about everything at once again.
on dominik’s side, damian pulls him in with a proud grin, jd and austin hyping him up, grayson shaking his head with a laugh but smiling anyway.
and through all of it he keeps reaching back for you.
every time you drift even a step apart, his hand finds yours again, fingers lacing together like it’s automatic now.
eventually, you end up back next to each other again, a little overwhelmed, a little emotional, but completely happy.
you lean into him slightly, your head brushing his shoulder.
“this is crazy.” you murmur.
he huffs a small laugh, still looking at you more than anything else. “yeah… it is.”
you glance up at him, smiling. “i love you.”
he smiled back squeezing your hand again. “i love you too.”
-
the kitchen smells like garlic and butter, something low and soft playing from your phone on the counter as you stand over the stove.
you shift your weight again, one hand pressing into your lower back. you’re huge.
like actually about to pop.
your stomach is round and heavy. your cropped merch tee is riding up just enough that your belly’s fully on display. your sweatpants sit low beneath it, loose, comfortable but nothing really feels comfortable these days.
your hair is thrown into a messy bun that’s barely doing its job, pieces falling out. you’re exhausted and very, very pregnant.
from the living room, the tv hums quietly. “babe-” his voice carries from the couch. “do you want me to come help or you got it?”
you smile a little to yourself, shaking your head as you stir the pan. “don’t worry, i got it. just relax.”
“you sure?” he calls back.
you huff out a quiet laugh, glancing toward the doorway. “yes, dom. just sit down.”
“alright, alright.” he mutters, but you can hear the faint smile in his voice.
you turn back to the stove, stirring slowly, shifting your weight again as your lower back aches.
you adjust your stance, one hand coming down to rest under your belly for a second, lifting it just enough to ease the pressure.
“almost done.” you call out, mostly to yourself at this point.
a strange pressure builds low in your stomach, it was sharp, sharp enough to make your brows pull together.
and then your water breaks. a sudden, warm gush that hits the floor before you can even react.
you freeze, eyes dropping instantly. “…oh-”
from the living room, there’s immediate movement.
“what was that?” dominik calls, already getting up. “you drop something?”
he rounds the corner, looking around then at you. you watch as his expression changes instantly. “wait.”
“baby.” you look back up at him, your voice unsteady but clear. “my water just broke.”
he blinks. “what?”
you swallow, your heart starting to race. “my water broke.”
there’s a split second where he just stands there. “dominik!” you say snapping him out of it.
“sorry! okay, okay-“ he starts moving immediately, running a hand through his hair. “we need the bag- where’s the bag-?”
“by the door.” you say, gripping the counter as your breathing starts to shift.
“right- right- um okay.” he nods quickly, then comes right back to you, hands hovering before settling on your arms. “you okay?”
“yeah, just-“ you’re unable to finish your sentence as a contraction hits and hard.
you inhale sharply, your body tensing as your grip tightens.
“shit- okay- hey, hey,” he’s right there instantly, one arm around you, the other rubbing your back. “breathe, yeah? just breathe.”
you nod, trying to focus as the pain rolls through you.
everything moves fast after that.
too fast.
one minute you’re in the kitchen, the next you’re being guided out the front door, dominik talking a mile a minute while trying to keep one hand on you at all times.
“watch your step- careful- okay- okay-”
“dom.” you exhale, but it cuts off as yet another contraction hits.
it steals the rest of your breath completely, your body locking up as a low, involuntary groan leaves your chest.
“mm-” your head drops forward, grip tightening on his arm.
“okay- okay, i got you,” he says immediately, shifting closer, one hand firm on your back. “breathe, yeah? just breathe-“
you can’t even answer.
all you can do is ride it out, your body tense, another strained groan slipping out before it finally eases.
you suck in a breath like you’ve been underwater.
“okay.” you manage weakly.
“yeah.” he nods quickly, guiding you the rest of the way. “c’mon, almost there.”
he gets you into the car, helping you sit, adjusting you as carefully as he can.
he barely makes it around to his side before another one builds.
you grip the seat, a broken groan leaving your throat as your eyes squeeze shut.
“shit- i’m here, i’m here-“ he’s reaching for you instantly, his hand finding yours. “breathe with me- c’mon-“
you shake your head, trying, but it’s hard when it feels like your body is being pulled tight from the inside. it fades slowly.
you slump back, breathing uneven.
“just drive- please.” you murmur.
“i am.” he says quickly, already pulling out, his voice tighter now. “we’re going.”
-
“push!” the nurse says.
and you do. a loud cry rips from your throat, your body trembling with effort and your fingers digging into doms hand.
this is nothing like you’d ever experienced before this was your body taking everything from you and demanding more.
“don’t stop.” dominik says, gripping your hand tighter. “i’m right here- i’m not going anywhere.”
you push again, a loud groan leaving you. tears stream down your face as your body shakes.
“you just need one more-” the nurse says.
you sob out a breath, shaking your head. “i can’t- i can’t.”
“yes, you can.” he says immediately, not letting you fall into it. his forehead presses to yours for a second. “one more. you got this- i’ve got you.”
something in his voice, maybe the tone or his words but whatever it was pulls you back just enough.
you nod your eyebrows knitted together. just then you feel another sharp pain in your stomach signaling it was time to push.
and you do. you push with everything left in you, a raw, broken cry tearing out of your chest.
the room is filled with a tiny, trembling cry.
your head falls back against the pillow, your chest rising and falling hard as you try to catch your breath, your entire body going limp with exhaustion.
dominik doesn’t even look away from you at first.
he’s still holding your hand, gripping it tight, his other hand immediately coming up to your face.
“hey, hey, i got you.” he says softly, his voice completely different now gentle, shaky. “it’s okay. it’s over. you did it.”
your eyes flutter, still trying to process everything, and you lean into his touch without even thinking.
he brushes your hair back, his thumb wiping under your eye where tears are still falling. “you did so good mi amor.” he murmurs, voice thick. “so, so good… i’m right here.”
you turn your head slightly into him, your body instinctively seeking him out, and he leans in without hesitation, his forehead resting against yours.
“i’m so proud of you,” he whispers, pressing a soft kiss to your temple. “you hear me? so so proud.”
your fingers tighten weakly around his, your throat tightening as emotion catches up to you.
“alright.” the doctor says gently. “you ready to meet her?”
your breath hitches. as you turn to look at the doctor.
dominik pulls back just enough to look at you then at the doctor, his eyes already glassy, overwhelmed in a way you’ve never seen before.
“yeah.” he says softly, even though his voice almost breaks.
they bring her over and the moment they settle her on your chest you fall apart.
a broken sound leaves your chest before you can stop it, tears spilling over as you look down at her.
“hi…” your voice barely works, soft and shaky. “hi, baby…”
she’s so small. so warm. so real. and so so precious and beautiful.
and it hits you all at once that erything you just went through, every second of it, led to this.
beside you, dominik exhales like the air’s been knocked out of him. and then he’s crying and not trying to hide it, not holding it back he’s just there.
his hand hovers for a moment before he carefully places it over yours, over her, like he’s grounding himself in it.
“hey…” his voice softens as he looks at both of you. “that’s our little girl… she’s perfect.”
you look up at him through your tears, smiling even as you cry.
he shakes his head slightly, almost in disbelief, a quiet, overwhelmed laugh slipping out.
“…just look at her,” he says, voice soft and full of emotion. “i can’t even process this right now…”
his thumb brushes gently over your hand where it rests near her.
he leans down carefully, pressing a kiss to your forehead, lingering there for a second.
“I love you.” he murmurs, voice thick with emotion. “both of you.”
you let out another soft, overwhelmed cry, holding your daughter just a little closer.
“I love you too…”

day one.
pauly d x fem! reader
summary: first day back at the jersey shore for the summer, and drama blows up immediately. sammi and jenni still have unfinished business from miami, and you get caught in the middle. after it’s over, you and pauly go for a walk on the boardwalk.
you had been sitting on pauly’s bed, legs stretched out and draped across his lap. he was leaned into you, shoulder warm against yours, one hand resting absentmindedly on your knee.
vinny was on the edge of his own bed across the room, leaning back on his hands, watching the two of you with that crooked grin as the three of you caught up.
laughter filled the room, stories from the past few weeks spilling between you three like no time had passed at all. pauly kept jumping in with dramatic reenactments, standing up, acting out voices, adding fake details.
“bro, that’s not how it happened.” vinny said for like the tenth time, shaking his head.
“that’s exactly how it happened.” pauly shot back instantly, squeezing your leg lightly like he needed backup.
you rolled your eyes, smiling. “he’s exaggerating. like always.”
“wow. betrayal.” pauly muttered, leaning his head dramatically against your shoulder.
the first day back in jersey almost felt normal.
then coming down the stairs, deena’s voice rang out. “they’re embarrassing and sammi’s a cunt.”
the word echoed through the house.
your mouth dropped instantly. your eyes snapped to vinny’s, then slowly to pauly’s.
vinny’s eyebrows shot up. pauly pressed his lips together like he was trying not to laugh but also knew this was about to be bad.
for a second, none of you said anything.
then vinny let out a low whistle. “ohhhh no.”
pauly looked at you, eyes wide but amused, that familiar here we go expression settling in. “it’s been, what… six hours?”
vinny pushed himself off the bed first, already grinning like he could smell the drama from upstairs. “ohhh, we’re back,” he said, dragging the words out as he headed for the door.
you looked up at pauly. “i mean yeah… but did we expect anything else?”
pauly huffed a laugh through his nose, shaking his head. “first day back, baby.”
he stood and tugged you up with him, fingers lacing through yours for half a second before dropping as the three of you stepped into the hallway and headed downstairs.
you three walked into the kitchen just as deena was mid-rant. “i tried to be nice to this girl-”
“who?” pauly asked, stepping into the kitchen.
“i hope she rots in hell.” deena continued, not even answering him.
your eyebrows shot up. pauly’s did too.
deena nodded aggressively. “i do. i will fucking knock her out.”
“tell pauly why.” snooki said from the counter.
“what happened?” pauly asked.
“y/n, vinny, have i done anything wrong being in this house?” deena said, pointing between you both.
vinny looked down at his watch and laughed. “we’ve been here like five hours.”
right then mike came downstairs, sliding right between you, vinny, and pauly.
you leaned against the doorway next to pauly, arms crossed, watching it unfold. “that was very, very audacious of a rookie calling a veteran a cunt.”
deena threw her hands up. “i don’t care. i don’t really care.”
you watched, half amused, half exhausted already. first day and it was already popping off.
deena kept on talking then brought up how sammi should worry about cuddling with her boyfriend.
and right on cue, you could hear ronnie’s voice from upstairs. yelling as he ran downstairs with sam right on his tail.
“don’t get me fuking involved,” he snapped. “you got a problem with my fucking girlfriend, you deal with it with her. so shut the fuck up.
ron dropped onto the couch like he was done with it, leaving sam standing there, fuming. “i don’t know who you think you are.” sam shot at her.
“you don’t- just go to sleep!” deena yelled, stepping back toward the sink.
you and pauly shared a look.
“i’d rather have fucking angelina back.” ronnie said from the couch.
you honestly couldn’t give two shits about angelina after everything that went down between you two in miami.
“hold on a second!” sam snapped at deena. “don’t walk out of my room and call me a cunt.”
you and pauly moved to the couch and sat. he pulled your legs over his lap automatically, one hand resting over your shin while the two of you just… watched.
deena stepped closer. “you laughed at me for no reason! GET REAL!”
you couldn’t help it. a small giggle slipped out.
“i’m still laughing at you.” sam said flatly.
“OH, I CAN FEEL IT!” pauly yelled, making you smack his chest as you laugh.
even sam cracked for half a second before snapping her focus back to deena.
“who are you talking to?” deena demanded.
“i’m talking to you!” sam fired back. “diana, deena- whatever the fuck your name is.”
“i didn’t start with you!” deena screamed.
they were talking over each other now, voices colliding. you leaned your head against pauly’s shoulder. “holy shit…”
“shut up, you stupid fucking bitch!” sam spat, waving her hand in deena’s face.
“OU here it comes!” pauly called out.
“you fucking cunt.” sammi snapped.
“fuck you.” deena shot back. “no, fuck you.”
Y/N L/N: You shrug, running a hand through your kinda messy hair, smirking a little. “it was f*cking crazy. I’m not even exaggerating- we were in the house for, what, five minutes? bags barely unpacked and the shit’s already popping off. it was like f*cking wwe.
honestly? I really wanted to stay out of it. who the fuck was I tryna kid though.” shrugs.
back in the living room—
snooki had gotten involved and yelled, “your mom called me every single fucking week saying why the fuck is my son with this boring ass bitch!”
your mouth dropped. the whole room went quiet.
sam’s face went hard. “like honestly, i don’t know who you think you are snooki, but i don’t know why you would even say things like that.”
“even though i don’t like you, i will always love ronnie.” snooki said.
“he doesn’t even fucking like you!” sam shot back.
“alright snooks you need to relax because you’re a fucking loser from poughkeepsie!” ron snapped.
suddenly jenni stood up from the counter, voice cutting through everything. “i have bruises!”
sam shot up from the couch next to vinny. “from me! from me!”
“from you bitch!? from you?! step out of it!”
they were face to face now. you felt it in your stomach. this was about to turn physical.
“put your hands on me.” sam said.
“hit me.” jenni motioned.
sam flinched at her, which made jenni flinch so, jenni punched her.
your whole body recoiled. hands flew over your mouth.
the girls crashed into each other instantly. grabbing. shoving. hair pulling. yelling. furniture scraping.
and for a second—
no one moved.
“yo- yo stop,” vinny said, stepping forward. you were right behind him.
“stop! stop, what are you guys doing?!” you yelled, rushing in.
jenni and sammi were tangled together, knocking into the couch. you grabbed sammi’s shoulder.
“sam, stop! it’s not worth it-”
she was wild-eyed. red-faced. breathing like she’d been holding this in since miami.
“get off me!” she snapped.
she spun on you swinging her hand without thinking and hit you square across the cheek.
pain exploded, a stinging shock that made you stumble backward.
pauly’s eyes went wide. he jumped from the couch, his voice booming. “sammi what the hell!”
that was it. the moment it registered that she had hit you, something snapped. your fist connected clean. sammi stumbled back, but you were already on her- grabbing, shoving, dragging her down with you. the coffee table screeched across the floor as you guys bumped into it.
you heard one of the boys scream. hair was in your hands. she clawed back. you swung again.
there were hands suddenly on you, trying to tear you off of her. hands and arms were flying to separate you. shouting, arguing, curses, threats.
you shrugged them off the first time, lunging forward as sammi tried to scramble up. you caught her, dragged her back down by her hair, and the two of you rolled.
sammi was swinging blindly. you had the upper hand and everyone knew it.
“yo! yo! break it up!” someone shouted.
suddenly the boys- ronnie, mike and pauly were able to get between you two.
the girls were yelling at you to get her. vinny had let go of jenni to help ronnie with sammi.
pauly’s arms wrapped around your middle suddenly, lifting you clean off the floor.
you tried to struggle, tried to break free. but his grip on your waist was like a vice. all you managed to do was get your back flush against his chest, held tightly in place by his arms as he hoisted you backwards, away from sammi.
you kicked forward once more, trying to reach her, but the grip tightened.
“c’mon, c’mon. snap out of it, babe. it’s over. she ain’t worth it.” pauly’s voice was low in your ear, rough but steady. his arms were locked around you, his chest pressed to your back.
you twisted, trying to shove pauly off, desperate to get at sammi one more time, but he didn’t budge. his grip was unyielding, every muscle taut as if he’d fused with you to stop you from doing something you’d regret.
sammi was still thrashing against ronnie and vinny across the room, trying to lunge around them. ronnie’s voice was loud, defensive, heated. mike was shouting over everyone. jenni was screaming that she’d finish it. the whole house felt like it was shaking.
and you were still straining in pauly’s arms.
chest heaving. hair half in your face. nails still curled like you were ready to swing again.
“you’re a dumb fucking bitch!” you screamed at her, voice cracking from how hard you were pushing it. “you swing on the one motherfucker who had your back in this fucking house?!”
sammi tried to shove around ronnie, pointing at you. “don’t do that! you fucking jumped in-”
“i jumped in to stop you then you hit me!” you roared. “you dumb bitch!”
ronnie was cursing at you now too, calling you crazy, telling you to chill out, but you barely even looked at him.
sammi spat something back, something about you picking sides, about you not understanding.
and that only made it worse.
“you’re fucking embarrassing!” you screamed over the bodies between you. “he fucked other bitches in miami and you still went back you dumb whore!”
“you don’t know shit!” sam yelled back, still fighting against ronnie and vinny’s grip. ron was shouting over her, telling you to shut up, telling you to relax like you were the one who started it.
“you look fucking stupid!” you screamed, voice hoarse but relentless. “fighting me over a man who embarrasses you on national tv!”
“shut the fuck up!” ronnie barked.
“no, you shut the fuck up!” you shot back instantly. “she hit me! and now i’m the problem? get the fuck outta here!”
sammi was still trying to lunge forward. “you jumped in! you had nothing to do with it!”
“i had nothing to do with it?!” you laughed, sharp and disbelieving. “I didnt have shit to do with it until you fucking swung on me! the fuck did you think I was gonna do? sit there and it? you’re a stupid bitch sam!”
pauly’s arms tightened around you again as you tried to surge forward. his chest was solid against your back, one arm locked across your waist, the other braced higher like a seatbelt.
“pauly- let me-” you gasped, voice raw, teeth gritted.
“nah.” he snapped, breath against your ear. not yelling but firm and final. “you’re done. ya hear me? you’re done.”
“i’m not done.” you snapped, still straining. “she’s dumb as hell fighting me over him!”
sammi shrieked something incoherent, still trying to push past ronnie.
“you dumb cunt!” you kept going, tears of anger burning your eyes now. “you got an issue with everyone instead of the dude who dogs the shit out of you first chance he gets! that’s embarrassing!”
pauly hauled you another step backward when you tried to lunge again, your back hitting fully against his chest. his jaw was locked tight, arm muscles flexed.
“alright, alright!” ronnie’s voice cut through again, loud and sharp. he gestured at you like you were the problem. “why you still running your mouth?!”
your head snapped toward him instantly despite pauly holding you back. “don’t start with me ron!”
“oh i’m starting-” ronnie took a step forward, chest puffed.
pauly shifted then, moving slightly so your back was still against him but his body angled toward ronnie. he dipped his head closer to your ear.
“baby.” he murmured, softer now. “just chill. you got your point across. it’s done.”
your chest was still rising and falling hard. your whole body buzzed with leftover adrenaline. you could still feel strands of sammi’s hair between your fingers. your cheek stung where she’d hit you.
ronnie seeing pauly lean down to talk to you only made him angrier.
“yeah, pauly,” he barked, voice loud and ugly, “control your bitch.”
the room went dead for half a second.
“the hell did you just say?” he spat, the normally carefree facade completely wiped from his face.
pauly moved before you even processed it.
his arms dropped from around your waist and suddenly he was stepping forward, shoulders squared, jaw locked so tight it flexed. the easy smile, the playful energy it was gone.
“nah, i’m saying maybe teach her some respect before she gets herself hurt.” he shot back, jaw tight.
“yo, watch ya mouth ronnie.” pauly said.
you felt it before it happened, that split second where two men decide whether they’re about to swing.
“ron, chill.” mike muttered, hands half-raised but not fully committed.
vinny was already moving, sliding between them just enough to put a forearm to pauly’s chest. “yo, yo, no we’re not doing this. not over this.”
ronnie was still chirping, chest heaving. “i’m just saying, bro. get your girl. she’s running her mouth like she’s untouchable-”
“well she did just beat ya girl’s ass!” pauly shot back.
ronnie barked out a harsh laugh, stepping forward again like he couldn’t help himself. “yeah? keep gassin’ her up. see how far that gets you. you think that’s cute?”
pauly didn’t flinch. didn’t step back.
“what’s not cute-“ he said his voice uncommonly loud, “is you callin’ her out her name ‘cause you mad.”
ronnie’s chest was still rising fast, but pauly’s tone didn’t change.
“say what you want to me-“ pauly added, eyes locked on his. “but don’t talk to her like that.”
you stepped in then, adrenaline finally shifting into something clearer. you grabbed pauly’s forearm, fingers wrapping tight around him.
“pauly.” he didn’t look at you at first. his eyes were still locked on ronnie.
“pauly.” you said again, firmer this time.
vinny used the second to push ronnie back a full step. “ron, relax. you’re heated. she’s heated. everybody’s heated. this ain’t it.”
ronnie scoffed but let himself get nudged backward, still muttering under his breath.
you tugged on pauly’s arm.
“baby, look at me.”
his chest was rising hard. shoulders squared like he was still ready to go. but slowly his eyes dropped to you.
your cheek was red. hair a mess. tears still clinging to your lashes from anger more than hurt.
“it ain’t worth it.” you murmured. “let’s just go outside.”
for a second he didn’t move. then he stepped back.
vinny exhaled like he’d been holding his breath for five minutes straight. “yeah. yeah. good idea.”
ronnie was still running his mouth, but it sounded further away now.
pauly slid his hand down from where you were holding his wrist and laced his fingers with yours instead.
“let’s go.” he muttered.
you didn’t look at anyone else. didn’t look at sammi. didn’t look at ronnie.
you just walked.
the door swung open and the cold night air hit your flushed skin like a slap. it felt grounding. real. the noise from inside dulled instantly, muffled behind the walls.
you two walked to the boardwalk in silence. once you got there, the sound of the ocean filled the space between you instead of screaming. the wooden planks creaked under your shoes. neon lights flickered in the distance, but everything felt muted.
after a moment, you stopped.
you let go of his hand.
you took a few steps away from him, wrapping your arms around yourself like you were trying to hold everything in.
pauly stopped too. you felt his eyes on you before you looked.
the adrenaline was draining fast now. your hands hurt. your cheek throbbed in time with your pulse. your chest still felt tight, but not from anger anymore.
you stared out at the water, jaw clenched. the waves crashed and pulled back, steady and indifferent, like none of that chaos inside mattered out here.
pauly shifted his weight behind you. he didn’t crowd you. didn’t touch you. just stood there.
“you good?” he asked finally, voice quieter than it had been all night.
you let out a small breath that almost sounded like a laugh.
“yeah.” you said automatically.
he didn’t answer. because he knew that wasn’t true.
“turn around for a second.”
you didn’t move.
“c’mon.” he said gently. “lemme see.”
you hesitated before turning halfway toward him. his eyes immediately scanned your face, jaw tightening when he got a good look at your cheek.
“she catch you clean?” he asked, stepping a little closer.
you shrugged, shaking your head like it didn’t matter. “it’s nothing.”
his hand came up anyway. he gently cupped your jaw between his fingers, tilting your face slightly toward the light from the boardwalk.
you tried to pull back out of instinct, but he didn’t let you go far. he studied the red mark, thumb brushing lightly beneath it.
“nah.” he murmured. “she didn’t really catch you like that.”
he wasn’t saying it to minimize it. he was saying it to reassure you. after a second, he let your face go.
the second his hand dropped, you looked away. over his shoulder. anywhere but at him.
the ocean stretched behind him, dark and endless. easier to look at than the way he was looking at you.
“baby.” he said quietly. you swallowed. “talk to me.”
you stayed quiet. his voice softened even more. “you’re breaking my heart right now.”
your composure cracked, your jaw trembling before you could stop it.
“she hit me.” you said finally, voice small.
it sounded different now. not angry. not defensive. just… stunned.
“she really hit me.” you repeated, shaking your head slightly like it still didn’t make sense. “i would’ve never done that to her.” your voice broke on the last word.
“i would’ve never put my hands on her like that.” you whispered. “not like that. not over some stupid shit. i would’ve never.”
your eyes burned. you blinked hard, trying to keep it together, but it wasn’t working anymore. pauly’s face softened the second your voice cracked.
“i know.” he said quietly.
you shook your head like he couldn’t possibly understand. “no, you don’t. i would’ve never fucking- not her.”
your breathing started to go uneven, chest rising too fast. you pressed your lips together, jaw tight, trying to force it down.
“hey-” he murmured. “slow down.”
“i’m not crying.” you said quickly, even as your eyes glossed over. “i’m fine.”
he gave you a look that said he knew better. “you ain’t gotta be fine right now.”
that almost did it by itself. you looked away again, blinking hard. your throat burned. you could feel it building.. that embarrassing, uncontrollable feeling in your chest.
“i just-” you tried. your voice cracked again.
and there it was.
you covered your face with both hands before the first real sob could leave your mouth. like if he couldn’t see it, it wouldn’t be happening.
“don’t.” you muttered behind your palms, mortified.
pauly didn’t hesitate. he stepped forward immediately, hands gentle but sure as he pulled yours down from your face.
you were already shaking your head, tears slipping through your lashes anyway. “i’m sorry.” you choked out, which only made it worse.
his brows pulled together. “sorry for what?”
“for crying. for-” your voice broke again. “for making it a big thing. for- i don’t know.”
he shook his head immediately, one hand sliding to the back of your neck.
“stop.” he said quietly. “you ain’t gotta apologize for that.”
that made your shoulders drop.
you tried to breathe through it, but another sob pushed out before you could stop it. embarrassed, you ducked your head, but he was already pulling you into his chest.
your forehead pressed against him and you let yourself cry for a second. not loud. not dramatic. just enough to let the pressure out of your chest. his hand moved slowly up and down your back, steady and grounding.
“i got you.” he murmured. “it’s alright.”
you gripped lightly at his shirt until your breathing started to even out. until the shaking eased. until the sting in your throat dulled.
after a minute, the tears slowed. you sniffed, wiping under your eyes with the heel of your palm.
pauly leaned back slightly, one hand coming up to cup your face. his thumb brushed under your eyes, wiping away what was left of the tears.
“look at you.” he said quietly, softer now.
you avoided his eyes for half a second before finally looking up.
“you good?” he asked.
you nodded, even though your nose was still pink and your lashes were wet. he studied you like he was making sure. then he pressed a slow kiss to the top of your head.
“that’s my girl.” he murmured. he reached for your hands again, turning one over to look at your knuckles.
“damn.” he muttered. “remind me not to piss you off.” he laughed under his breath.
you let out the smallest, wet laugh before you could stop it.
“i’m serious.” he added, laughing softly. “you got some hands on you girl.”
you huffed, shaking your head. “shut up.”
“nah, for real. i was lowkey impressed.”
another reluctant laugh slipped out. he smiled when he heard it, thumb brushing lightly over your scraped knuckles.
“there it is.” he murmured. “that’s better.”
then he slid his arm around the back of your neck, pulling you into his side in that loose, half-headlock hug he always did. not tight. just enough to jostle you.
it caught you off guard and a small giggle slipped out. you rolled your eyes, but leaned into him anyway.
after a second he nudged your shoulder gently. “c’mon.”
“where?” you asked, voice still a little thick.
“you just fought on an empty stomach. that’s crazy behavior.”
you stared at him.
he shrugged. “let’s go get food before you decide to square up with somebody else.”
you laughed again, fuller this time, shaking your head.
“i’m not fighting anybody else.”
“good.” he said, lacing his fingers with yours. “because i’m starving.”
you rolled your eyes lightly, but you didn’t let go.
the boardwalk stretched out in front of you, quieter now. the neon lights didn’t feel so harsh anymore. the ocean still crashed in the distance.
he didn’t say anything else for a minute. just walked beside you, thumb rubbing absentmindedly and gently over the back of your hand.
your cheek still stung. your knuckles still throbbed. your chest still felt heavy.
he gave your hand a small squeeze, you squeezed back. the two of you continued walking down the boardwalk, letting the night settle around you.
guys I’m watching Jersey shore and I’m dying to read some good imagines about pauly d or vinny but there is NONE soo PLEASE PLEASE REQUEST
May I put in a request that's kind of like how everyone mentions Dom and his wife whenever there as Livdom promo, but instead its like Livs wife having to see her wife going through the same thing with maybe a little of reassurance and just soft gayness? If not no worries, have a great day
no one else.
liv morgan x fem! reader
summary: you trust liv. you always have. but the fan obsession with her and dominik starts to wear on you—until a quiet night in your shared hotel reminds you where her heart really is.
A/N: i’m not part of the lgbtq+ community myself, so if anything here feels off, please know it wasn’t intentional. i don’t mind writing wlw stories — i actually really enjoy exploring those dynamics and emotions — but i still want to be respectful and get it right. thank you so much for reading and supporting. it really means a lot.
you’d always been proud of liv.
from the moment she got cleared again, the moment she walked through gorilla at the royal rumble with that smirk on her face, from the moment she started her revenge tour, you’d cheered for her louder than anyone. you always had, it was her time.
but no one warned you how weird it would feel watching her pretend to be in love with someone else—even if it was scripted. even if you trusted her with your whole heart.
watching her on screen, week after week, rubbing noises with dominik mysterio, trading glances and saying things that made the crowd roar. it was good TV. hell, it was great tv.
the chemistry was there—undeniable, magnetic, the kind of thing people couldn’t stop talking about. liv and dom. dom and liv. your phone lit up with it constantly. instagram edits, twitter threads, fans dissecting every interview, every line, every little look like it meant more than it did.
and each week when dom and liv were on tv, you’d constantly see the comments.
‘their wives are strong💔’
‘yo they look in love fr’
‘yea I don’t think it’s a act no more, she feeling dominik.’
some of them made you laugh. some you even saved because the edits were that good. you weren’t blind—you saw what the fans saw. liv and dom were magic together.
but no one ever seemed to remember that liv had a wife watching from the sidelines. one who knew how much liv poured into this story, how hard she fought to make people talk again.
and god, did they talk.
they talked about her eyes, the way she smiled when dom said something slick. they slowed down footage like it was evidence, screenshotted moments that were half-second beats between lines, and gave them meaning that didn’t exist.
but the worst part wasn’t the shipping. it wasn’t the edits or the fan cams or the threads that went viral for the wrong reasons. it was the way they made you start questioning things you already knew the answers to.
like whether that look in liv’s eyes was just performance.
like whether she smiled like that when you weren’t around.
like whether she’d still be yours if the story ever did blur the lines too much.
you didn’t want to feel that way. you hated feeling that way. because liv wasn’t just your wife—she was your best friend.
your person. and she’d never given you a reason not to trust her.
but you were human. and humans get insecure.
so you bottled it up. bit your tongue every time someone tagged you in another “liv and dom are endgame” video. smiled through the backstage convos. reminded yourself this was her job. her career.
but that didn’t make it easier.
especially not tonight.
you stood in gorilla, arms folded tight across your chest, watching the monitor as liv and dom walked toward the ring. she looked so confident. electric. he whispered something to her on the ramp, and she laughed—bright and wild and effortless.
it should’ve made you proud.
instead, it twisted a little in your stomach.
until a voice cut through the buzz in your ears, low and kind.
“hey,” she said, nudging your elbow. “you okay?”
you blinked, torn from your thoughts, and looked over at her. marie stood casually, arms crossed like yours, watching the same monitor—but not with the same tension in her jaw. she was calm. you weren’t sure how.
you nodded, maybe a little too quickly. “yeah. just tired.”
marie gave you a look like she didn’t believe you for a second. she’d been through this too—hell, she was still going through it. even after all the chaos between rhea and dom had fizzled out, the internet never really let it go. some part of her had to know what it felt like.
“how do you do it?” you asked suddenly, voice quieter than you meant it to be.
marie turned toward you. “do what?”
you swallowed. “handle it. the comments. the edits. watching dom out there with liv, acting the way they act every week while the world pretends you don’t exist.”
marie’s expression softened. she tilted her head, considering her words before she spoke.
“you remind yourself that you know the truth,” she said.
marie’s eyes flicking back to the monitor for a beat. “y/n, you have to remind yourself that you know the truth,” she said again, firmer this time. “you know who comes home to you. you know who’s there when the cameras cut. i’ve been with dom for twelve years. I know him better than anyone else in the world.”
your heart swelled a little at that. not out of envy—just… something tender. something that understood what it meant to love someone that long and hold space for all the versions of them the world got to see.
you smiled softly. “twelve years?”
marie nodded, almost bashful. “since we were fourteen. i’ve seen every phase of him—before he even wanted to get into wrestling, before the tattoos, before the boos, when he was tagging with rey, the judgment day. this? liv and him? It’s just a story. one with a shelf life.”
you nodded, chewing the inside of your cheek, arms folded tighter now. her words helped. they did. but your eyes still found the monitor again, and there she was—liv, lit up under the lights, locking eyes with dom as they stood in the center of the ring.
she looked perfect.
but there was that gnawing feeling again. that pit in your stomach. It had nothing to do with dom himself. he was a great guy, and you liked him. he was nice to you, kind, respectful.
but it wasn’t about him. It was about the fans. the way they were constantly drawing lines and creating stories that weren’t there. the way they couldn’t respect that liv, had someone who loved her off-screen.
marie shifted slightly, glancing back at the monitor before looking at you again, this time with a softer expression. “how long have you and liv been together?” she asked quietly, as if she could sense the weight of your thoughts.
you paused for a moment, processing the question. “since 2017,” you said, the words coming out slower than you expected. “we got married in 2020.”
you smiled softly at the memory, remembering how it felt to marry her.
the moment you walked down the aisle was still so vivid in your mind. liv, standing there, waiting for you, her bright smile lighting up the venue.
you’d never seen her more beautiful. tears welled in her eyes, but she was smiling through them, her hands trembling just slightly as she reached out to you.
the world had quieted around you two, and in that moment, nothing else existed but the two of you—just as it had always been, just as it would always be.
you knew then that no matter how loud the world got, she was yours. and you were hers.
“you’re her person,” marie said softly, pulling you back to the present. “and no one can change that. not the fans, not the storylines. you are the one she comes home to.”
you nodded, trying to shake the lingering weight in your chest. marie’s words were grounding, and it helped to hear someone who’d been in the trenches too, but the jealousy still gnawed.
it didn’t make sense—it wasn’t about liv. it wasn’t even about dom. it was about the world that seemed to erase you from the narrative.
“you’re right,” you said, taking a deep breath. “i know she’s my wife. and i know she loves me. i just… i don’t know. sometimes i get stuck on all the noise.”
marie smiled softly, her eyes understanding. “we all do. it’s hard to drown out the noise when it’s everywhere. but you know what? you and i, we got lucky.”
“lucky?” you raised an eyebrow, glancing at her with confusion.
“yeah,” she nodded. “we married two amazing people. people who would fight for us, who would always come back to us no matter what the world says. not everyone gets that.”
you smiled at the way she said it, knowing she was right. she had her own struggles, her own moments of doubt—but she had dom, and you had liv. and at the end of the day, that was all that mattered.
before you could answer, the curtain rustled—and just like that, liv and dom walked through gorilla, breathless and still buzzing from the crowd. liv’s eyes found yours instantly.
and god—that smile.
her whole face lit up like she’d been waiting to see you all night. her pace didn’t slow as she made a beeline toward you, pulling her hair tie loose as she walked.
“hey, baby,” she said, voice excited, and without hesitation, she slipped her arm around your waist.
liv tucked herself against you like it was second nature, her arm slung casually around your waist, but the way her fingers grazed your back was soft. intentional.
“you saw it?” she asked, glancing up at you with that glimmer in her eye. she pulled back putting her hands on her hips.
you nodded, a bright smile tugging at your lips. “yeah. you were amazing.”
dom leaned in and gave marie a quick kiss, his hand resting gently on her waist, soft and familiar.
after a moment he pulled away from marie stepping forward with a friendly grin. “hey,” he said, pulling you into a quick, polite hug. “how you been?”
“good,” you smiled, giving him a light pat on the back before stepping away. “you guys killed it out there.”
dom grinned. “thanks. liv’s been on another level lately. makes my job easy.”
you nodded again, holding onto your smile, even though your eyes flicked to liv for just a second
liv leaned into your side a little more, fingers brushing softly against your lower back, like she could feel everything you weren’t saying.
“hi, marie,” she said warmly, offering her a quick hug too. “you look cute tonight.”
marie smiled. “thanks. you guys lit it up out there.”
liv grinned. “crowd was wild.”
dom turned toward marie, gently tugging at her hand. “you wanna hit catering before it gets raided again?”
marie chuckled, nodding. “yeah, i’m starving.”
“alright, we’re gonna hit catering before they run out of anything good,” he said, already tugging her gently toward the hallway. “text me if any of you want anything.”
“we’re good,” liv called after them, still tucked against you. “get your little fruit cups.”
dom flipped her off over his shoulder without turning around, “good seeing you, y/n!”
“you too, dom!” you said back.
they headed off together, voices fading down the hallway as the buzz of backstage moved on around you.
you and liv stayed right there, still close, but not in a way that felt heavy or uncomfortable.
you glanced down at her. “you not hungry?”
she shrugged, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “not really. i kind of just wanna hang with you.”
“alright, i’m all yours,” you said with a soft smile, giving in to the warmth of her presence.
she kissed the corner of your mouth. “wanna go lurk around like gremlins until the show’s over?”
you snorted. “always.”
liv grinned at your answer and tugged your hand, leading you away from gorilla.
you wandered the halls together like you had a million times before—past production crates, stacks of folding chairs, crew members brushing past with clipboards and headsets. it was familiar. easy.
“we’re like roaches,” liv said, grinning as she pulled you down a quieter hallway, where the noise from gorilla faded into a dull hum behind you.
you laughed under your breath. “speak for yourself. i’m more like… a very cute, very charming gremlin.”
liv let out a full laugh at that, bumping her shoulder into yours. “yeah, you are. you’re my favorite gremlin.”
you squeezed her hand, feeling a little lighter with her next to you. she was still in her gear—those leather shorts, in a cropped ‘livin dirty’ merch shirt—and even under the fluorescent hallway lights, she looked like a star.
“you killed it tonight,” you said, glancing over at her. “that promo was insane.”
she gave you a small, bashful smile, like it still meant something when it came from you. “thanks, baby. i felt good out there.”
“you looked good out there too,” you teased lightly.
liv shot you a wink. “you tryna hype me up or you tryna take me back to the hotel already?”
you laughed, bumping her hip with yours. “maybe a little of both.”
liv grinned, squeezing your hand again as you wandered deeper into the maze of the backstage area. there wasn’t really a destination—you were just moving, together, talking about everything and nothing.
“you see priest almost bust his ass coming down the ramp?” liv said suddenly, making you snort.
“no, are you serious?”
“swear to god,” she giggled. “there’s a clip already. someone slowed it down and put music over it.”
you laughed harder, imagining it way too clearly. “i need you to send me that immediately.”
“already did,” she said proudly. “i gotchu.”
you shook your head, smiling despite yourself. you passed by a production crate and liv jumped up to sit on it, swinging her legs like a little kid. you leaned against it beside her, arms brushing.
for a second it felt normal. easy.
but liv was watching you closely now, her smile faltering just a little when you weren’t looking.
you kicked lightly at the crate with the toe of your boot, pretending not to notice, but you could feel her eyes on you. she always could read you better than you could read yourself.
“sooo,” she said after a minute, swinging her legs a little. “what’s the plan after we bust outta here? you wanna get room service? or go out to eat?”
you smiled, looking up at her. “honestly, room service sounds fine. I’m exhausted.”
liv lit up at that, bumping your shoulder again. “you know I saw last night on the menu, they had milkshakes. we can split one like the sickly cute couple we are.”
you laughed. “you just want an excuse to steal most of it.”
“uh, yeah?” she grinned, like it was obvious.
you stayed like that for a second, her legs kicking lightly, you leaning against the crate beside her, the hallway around you mostly empty now. it was quiet, except for the distant rumble of the show still going on.
liv nudged you again, softer this time. “you good?”
you hesitated, chewing your lip for half a second before you answered.
you shook your head lightly, trying to shake off the weight that had settled in your chest, but the knot was still there. “it’s nothing. really, it’s just… i’ll tell you later, okay?” you said, offering her a smile, but it didn’t quite reach your eyes.
liv tilted her head, her brow furrowing as she studied you. “babe, don’t give me that. something’s been off all night.”
you sighed, rubbing the back of your neck. “it’s just… i don’t know. i don’t want to drag you into it right now. can we talk when we get back to the hotel?”
there was a beat of silence, liv’s eyes softening. she could tell you were trying to protect her from whatever was on your mind, but she hated when you kept things from her. she wasn’t some stranger in this—you were a team.
liv reached out, gently cupping your cheek, her thumb brushing over your skin in a comforting motion. “you don’t have to protect me from your shit, babe. we’re a team, remember? so, whatever it is, we’ll figure it out together.”
you swallowed, her words sinking in like a lifeline. the knot in your chest loosened just slightly, but the weight was still there. “i know,” you whispered, looking into her eyes. “it’s just… it feels bigger than it probably is. i don’t want to make it worse.”
her gaze never wavered. “you won’t. not if you let me in. so, whatever it is, we talk about it now, or when we get back to the hotel, but we talk. okay?”
you sighed, a mix of relief and frustration bubbling inside you. “okay,” you said, finally letting go of the breath you didn’t know you were holding. “when we get back.”
you leaned in, your lips meeting liv’s in a soft, lingering kiss. it wasn’t rushed, just a quiet moment between the two of you, grounding you.
when you pulled back, her gaze was still steady on you, and for the first time tonight, you felt like you could breathe a little easier.
before either of you could say anything else, liv’s phone buzzed in her pocket. she pulled away with a sigh, glancing down at the screen. her expression softened as she read the message, and she shot you a look, raising an eyebrow.
“raquel’s asking if we want to hang out in catering,” she said, her voice warm but still laced with concern. “she’s with carlito, dom, and marie.”
you shrugged lightly, the tension still weighing you down but knowing you could use the distraction. “yeah, sure. it’ll be good to get our minds off things.”
liv smiled, the familiar glint of mischief returning to her eyes. “good idea,” she said, slipping her phone back into her pocket before she took your hand, her fingers intertwining with yours. “but don’t think i’m forgetting about our conversation.”
“wouldn’t dream of it,” you replied with a small smirk.
as you both made your way out, the hallways quieter now that most of the action had died down, you felt liv nudge you from behind.
without even thinking, you slowed your pace, and before you knew it, she was hopping onto your back, her arms loosely wrapped around your shoulders.
“i feel like being carried,” she teased softly, her breath warm against your neck.
you chuckled, settling her comfortably, your hands easily finding the familiar spot around her legs to keep her steady. “i’m not your personal chauffeur, you know,” you teased back, though the truth was, you didn’t mind one bit.
“oh, come on,” she said, pressing a kiss to the side of your neck. “you love it.”
you could feel the smile on her lips against your skin, her arms around you, the sound of her laughter in your ear—helped chase whatever you were feeling away.
“yeah, yeah,” you muttered, but your tone was softer now, more relaxed. “don’t get used to it, though.”
“i’ll try,” she said, but the playful smile in her voice told you she wasn’t planning on listening.
as you both entered catering, the familiar buzz of laughter and chatter filled the air. marie’s gaze met yours from across the room, and the moment she saw you, her eyes softened.
there was something about the way she looked at you—concern, but also understanding. she gave you a comforting smile, her eyes silently asking if you were alright.
you gave her a small nod, trying to brush off the weight of the evening, but you could feel the knot still tight in your chest. marie, as always, seemed to know when something was off.
liv, never missing a beat, slid off your back and stepped toward the table, pulling your chair out for you with a playful grin.
“after you, my lady,” she teased, her voice warm and teasing, completely unaware of the quiet exchange between you and marie.
you shot marie a wink, a silent thanks for understanding, before you took a seat. marie raised an eyebrow, but her smile stayed, giving you a little nod as she took her place nearby.
-
you’re curled up cross-legged on the bed, fresh from the shower, hair still damp at the ends. liv’s “LIV’S FINALLY ON TOP” hoodie swallows you whole, soft and oversized, sleeves slipping past your hands as you flick through channels with the remote.
the glow of the tv paints soft blues across the dark room. there’s a quiet hum in the air — not silence, but the kind that feels calm. expectant.
the bathroom door clicks open, and steam billows out before she steps through it. liv’s hair is wet and messy, her towel looped lazily around her shoulders as she rubs at her curls.
she’s in a cropped white tank and tiny black shorts, glasses perched low on her nose — and she freezes for a second when she spots you in her merch.
she grins.
“ugh,” she says, dragging the towel through her hair again as she walks over. “have i told you how hot it is when you wear my stuff?”
you look over your shoulder at her and smirk. “maybe once or twice. but i don’t mind hearing it again.”
she tosses the towel at the end of the bed and climbs up beside you, legs brushing yours.
she tosses the towel at the end of the bed and climbs up beside you, her leg brushing yours. her knee bumps gently into yours
you reach for the remote and click the tv off. the silence that follows isn’t heavy — but it’s real.
liv glances at you, and you don’t even have to say it. she already knows.
you reach for the remote and click the tv off. the silence that follows isn’t heavy — but it’s real.
liv glances at you, and you don’t even have to say it. she already knows.
“so,” she says, voice gentler now. “you said you wanted to talk?”
you hesitate. swallow. the words feel clumsy in your mouth, too sharp for the softness of this moment.
but she’s looking at you with those big, earnest eyes — the ones that make it impossible to lie.
“yeah,” you say quietly. “it’s just…”
you trail off. liv doesn’t rush you.
after a beat, she shifts, twisting her body to face you fully. she crosses her legs in front of you, knee to knee, and rests her hands lightly on her thighs. her eyes never leave yours.
you take a breath. try again.
“sometimes it’s hard. watching all the stuff. the edits. the comments. people acting like you and dom are…” the words stick in your throat, bitter and stupid, but you force them out. “like you’re something you’re not.”
liv’s expression softens. she doesn’t scoff or make a joke. she just listens.
you swallow again. your fingers twist in the hem of the hoodie.
“and it’s not all fans. i’ve seen some stuff that makes me laugh, honestly. the occasional edit that’s actually kind of good. the tweets, the cute captions, the way some people just… get it. i don’t hate it. not all of it.”
liv’s brows lift slightly, but she doesn’t interrupt.
“it’s just…” your voice lowers, quieter now. “some of them overstep. say things like they know you. or us. or dom. like they’ve decided what this is and who we are without knowing a damn thing. and i know it comes with the job, with who you are. i do. but sometimes it just—it gets to me.”
liv’s hand finds yours in the space between you. grounding.
“i trust you,” you say, eyes flicking back to hers. “i trust you with everything. and i trust dom, too. he’s never made me feel like there was a line he’d cross, never said anything that made me question us. he’s been respectful. always.”
liv’s thumb brushes against your knuckles.
“i know,” she says softly.
“i like him,” you admit. “i really do. he’s good to you. and i get why the fans ship it. i do. i just don’t want it to drown out… this. us. what’s real.”
liv squeezes your hand, gentle but firm, and then lets go only to shift closer.
her knees slide around you, legs folding on either side of your lap as she straddles you, slow and sure — like she’s saying i’m here. right here.
her hands lift to your cheeks, cool fingers against the heat of your skin, and she tilts your face so you have no choice but to look at her.
“hey,” she says softly. “look at me.”
you do — reluctantly at first, but you do.
“there is no one else,” she says, slow and steady like it’s the only thing that matters. “no one i think about when i wake up. no one i miss when i’m on the road. no one who gets under my skin or knows how to calm me down or makes me laugh when i don’t even want to smile.”
her thumb brushes beneath your eye, like she’s memorizing every inch of your face. her expression is so open it makes your throat tighten.
liv leans in a little closer, forehead nearly touching yours, voice barely more than a whisper now.
“you’re it for me,” she says. “no one else even comes close.”
you exhale like you’ve been holding your breath for days. her words hit somewhere deep, quieting that restless ache in your chest.
your hands lift to her waist, holding her gently, thumbs brushing the soft skin just beneath the hem of her tank. her presence is warm, steady, real. and in that moment, all the noise — the edits, the comments, the opinions of people who will never know either of you — it all fades.
“you’re it for me too,” you say, voice a little shaky, but honest. “always have been.”
liv smiles, small but so full of feeling, it nearly undoes you. she leans in and presses her lips to your forehead.
then her hands slide down to cup your jaw, thumbs stroking your skin as she looks at you, gaze soft and a little misty behind her glasses.
“i hate that you even have to question it,” she says. “you’ve never been second to anything. not the fans, not the storylines, not dom. you’re mine. and i’m yours. and nothing about a fake pairing on tv changes that.”
you nod, throat too tight to speak.
“thank you,” you murmur. “for not brushing it off. for not making me feel stupid.”
liv snorts, shaking her head. “you? stupid? please. you could wear a paper bag and still be the hottest person in this room.”
you laugh, a watery sound that slips out before you can help it. liv’s thumbs wipe the tears you didn’t realize had gathered, and then she’s kissing the corners of your eyes, soft and slow, like she’s trying to make the ache disappear with her lips.
liv presses one last kiss to your cheek before pulling back just enough to really look at you, eyes soft and sure. “you’re allowed to feel things, y’know,” she murmurs. “and you never have to apologize for that. not with me.”
you nod again, the weight in your chest loosening with every second she holds you.
she shifts a little in your lap, arms draped around your shoulders now, and her forehead brushes against yours once more.
“now,” she says, voice lighter, teasing creeping back in. “are we gonna sit here getting all misty-eyed, or are you gonna let me force you to watch the greatest cinematic masterpiece of all time?”
you blink, already bracing. “…you don’t mean—”
“chucky time, baby,” she grins, pure menace and mischief, pulling away to grab the remote with a gleam in her eye.

you groan, leaning your head back against the headboard as liv gleefully queues it up. “you’re actually insane,” you mumble, but your arms don’t loosen around her waist. if anything, you pull her closer.
“i prefer cultured,” she says smugly, settling back against you with the remote in hand like it’s a throne and you’re her favorite seat.
“you’ve made me watch this five times already,” you point out, burying your face in her shoulder.
“and we’ll watch it five more. because it’s art. cinema. because charles lee ray is misunderstood.”
you lift your head just enough to give her a flat look. “he’s literally a serial killer trapped in a doll.”
liv shrugs, utterly unbothered. “details.”
she presses play before you can argue, and the eerie, overly dramatic opening score starts up — again — filling the room with cheesy horror magic.
liv wiggles excitedly in your lap like she hasn’t seen it a thousand times, her glasses slipping a little down her nose as she leans forward.
you sigh, defeated, but there’s a smile tugging at the corner of your mouth as you settle your chin on her shoulder.
because honestly? if this is how forever looks — wrapped in her hoodie, wrapped in her arms, watching some cursed little ginger doll wreak havoc while liv quotes every line — you’ll take it.
even if you still think chucky’s a little freak.

A/N: YOU ASK AND I SHALL DELIVER.
he was already in bed when you came in—sitting up against the headboard, tv low, phone in one hand, his other arm resting loose across his stomach.
hair still a little damp from his shower, gray sweats clinging to his hips. relaxed. soft. a little worn down from the road, but content.
you didn’t say anything at first. just slid into the bed next to him and curled under his arm. your bare shoulder pressed against his side, your hand resting light over his ribs. he didn’t look up right away, but his fingers shifted, dragging absently across your arm.
you leaned in and kissed his cheek.
he turned his head slightly, that lazy, familiar smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
“what was that for?” he asked, eyes flicking down to you.
you look up at him, voice soft. “my mania gear came in.”
his hand paused mid-stroke against your arm. then he shifted, setting his phone down on the nightstand without looking away from you.
“yeah?” he said, eyes warming.
you nodded, letting the anticipation settle between you for a second. “you wanna see?”
“what kind of question is that? of course I do.” he said amused.
you laugh softly at his response, shaking your head. “thought you might say that.”
without another word, you get up and grab the garment bag hanging on the back of the door. you turn back toward him, tossing him a quick glance.
he smirks, stretching out on the bed, his eyes never leaving you. “don’t keep me waiting too long.”
“i’ll be right back. don’t go anywhere.”
he leans back against the pillows, amusement in his expression, a soft chuckle escaping him. “i won’t. i’m not going anywhere.”
you disappeared into the bathroom, leaving him with nothing but anticipation. a soft chuckle escaped his lips, still entertained by how well you knew him.
you didn’t waste any time. the bag was heavy in your hands, and as you unzipped it, the feeling of the cool material against your skin made your pulse quicken.
you pulled out the first set—a bold black and red combination with metallic accents.
your pulse quickens as you slip into it. this one’s loud—sharp, powerful. perfect for mania. you give yourself a quick look in the mirror, adjusting everything just right, then step back out, walking toward the bed where he’s still waiting.
his eyes immediately drop to your legs, then trail up to the way the gear fits you, the sharp contrast of red against black, the metallic accents glinting.
you give him a little twirl, just enough to show off the back, then face him again—hands relaxed at your sides, your weight shifting just a little on your feet.
“what do you think?” you ask, voice even, but there’s a flicker of something underneath. not nerves exactly—just wanting him to see you.
he doesn’t speak right away.
his eyes move over you slowly, dragging up your legs, across your waist, lingering at your chest, then finally landing on your face.
“i think if anyone breathes wrong around you in that, i’m swinging.” you snort softly, which makes him laugh as well.
“it’s good,” he says. “like… ‘main event’ good.”
you shift under his gaze, feeling heat crawl up the back of your neck.
“okay,” you say, clearing your throat. “round two.”
you disappear again, slipping back into the bathroom with a half-smile still tugging at your lips.
the second gear is different—black and white, cleaner lines, sharper contrast. it hugs you a little tighter, cutouts over your ribs, silver accents stitched into the waistband. it’s sleeker, more exact.
you run your fingers along the waistband one last time before stepping back out.
his head lifts when he hears the door creak open, and his eyes immediately find you again.
you stand a little straighter this time, letting him see the clean lines of the gear—black and white, with small silver details on the waist band. it’s more bland than the first.
he tilts his head as you step out, eyes dragging from your boots all the way up. he’s quiet for a second, and when he speaks, his voice is low but honest.
“you look good,” he says. “like… really good. it’s just—i don’t know. feels a little simple for mania.”
you glance down at yourself, taking it in again, and you nod.
“yeah,” you agree, brushing your fingers over the silver detailing at your hip. “i like it, but it doesn’t really hit the same.”
his gaze softens a little. “it’s nice. but the first one was more bold.”
you flash him a small smile and disappear again without saying anything else.
the third set already feels different the second you touch it. all black—dark and sharp, the kind of gear that makes a statement before you even step into the ring. the top’s structured and bold, with fringe detailing that skims just above your ribs, little black bows at the straps, and a deep neckline that demands attention. the bottoms sit low on your hips, leather-like and sleek, with a built-in belt and silver chains draped at the sides. mesh panels cut across the thighs, just enough to tease skin without losing the edge.
your boots are the final touch—knee-high, mostly black with just enough white in the cow print. black tassels hanging that sway when you walk, matching the movement of the fringe on your gear.
they’re not identical to dom’s, but they’re close enough that anyone paying attention would notice.
you glance at yourself in the mirror, running a hand over your hip.
this one’s it. no question.
you step out without saying anything, letting the moment settle between you.
dom looks up from the bed—and you catch the shift in his face immediately.
his mouth parts just slightly. jaw tightens. eyes drag over every inch of you, slow and deliberate, like he’s trying to commit the entire thing to memory. he sits up straighter without realizing it, his arm flexing where it was lazily resting before.
he doesn’t speak at first. just looks at you.
his lips part, jaw tightens just slightly. he sits up straighter without realizing it, eyes moving across every inch of you—slow, deliberate. the gear fits like it was made to be seen under bright lights. black on black. everything about it looks like you mean business.
and his voice is lower now, almost quiet.
“that’s it,” he says.
you tilt your head, shifting your weight onto one hip, fingers brushing down the side of your thigh. “yeah?”
he nods once, eyes still stuck on you. “black’s your color. you know that, right?”
“starting to believe it,” you say with a small chuckle, tugging lightly at the waistband to settle it just right.
and when his eyes hit your boots, he smiles.
not sweet. not soft.
cocky.
like he’s proud of you. like he knows you’re gonna walk into mania and steal every second of spotlight the second everyone saw you.
“those boots,” he says, head tilting. “you tryna match me now?”
you glance down, one hip popped out a little.“almost,” you murmur. “figured they’d pop better with all black.”
he nods slowly, still looking you over like he’s not done yet. then his tongue slips out across his bottom lip, and his smile deepens.
“they look better on you.”
you don’t answer that. just turn around, letting him see the full back of the gear—the way the tassels on the boots move, the way the mesh cuts curve at the back of your thighs, how everything cinches and hugs and sharpens around you.
you hear the way he exhales, a quiet drag of breath through his nose. when you turn back around, he’s still staring.
less playful now.
hungrier.
“you done showing off,” he asks, voice rougher now, “or was there more?”
you let the silence stretch for a second, eyes meeting his.
then you tilt your head, the corner of your mouth lifting just slightly.
“one more,” you say.
he doesn’t say anything. doesn’t move either. just watches.
you disappear back into the bathroom, pulse thudding a little heavier now. you peel out of the gear slow, careful, hanging it back up like it’s something sacred.
then you reach for the last set.
it’s not gear.
it’s lace and straps and barely-there black silk. the bra is delicate, sheer in places, tiny bows over the cups. the panties are even smaller—strappy, high-cut, hugging your hips just right. the kind of thing made to be looked at and taken off just as fast.
you catch your reflection in the mirror once before stepping back out.
he’s still in the same spot when you step out—back against the headboard, one knee drawn up now, arm resting over it, but his whole posture’s changed.
his jaw tenses when he sees you.
eyes tracking every inch like he’s trying not to blink. like if he does, he might miss something.
his lips part, but he doesn’t speak.
he just looks at you.
your legs carry you back toward the bed in slow strides, the soft drag of lace against your skin matched only by the way his gaze burns hotter the closer you get. there’s nothing on your face but quiet, calm confidence. not a smirk. not a tease. just that low pulse of tension thick between you.
you stop just out of reach, letting him look.
the straps, the silk, the way it hugs your hips, your chest—nothing hidden now.
"this one's not for mania," you murmur, walking toward him, stopping in between his legs.
his jaw clenches slightly. "i figured."
his hands come to rest lightly on your hip, fingertips grazing the strap of your underwear. he looks up at you.
you don’t look away.
not when his thumb drags slow against the band at your hip. not when his fingers flex a little, like he’s fighting every instinct to pull you closer.
“you trying to kill me tonight, or…”
your hand lifts, fingers brushing lightly under his chin, tipping his head back just enough so he has to look up at you.
your thumb runs over the corner of his mouth, slow, deliberate, and you feel the way he tenses under your touch.
“just making sure you’re awake,” you say, voice low.
he huffs a breath, the corner of his mouth twitching like he’s about to smile—but it doesn’t quite make it there. not this time.
“wide awake, hermosa.”
his grip on your hips tightens—not pulling, not rushing—just grounding himself.
his lips ghost your waist, the brush of his mouth so light it makes you shiver, and you feel the way his breath catches when you move closer.
your hands slide into his hair, fingers tugging gently, and you feel the weight of his gaze on you as his lips hover just above your skin.
“you’re not even playing fair anymore,” he murmurs, his voice thick, strained.
you meet his eyes, the tension between you winding tighter with every second that passes.
“not sure I ever was,” you reply, and before you can blink, his lips press into your skin, just above your v-line. the kiss is soft but urgent, like he’s been waiting for this.
his mouth trails lower, kissing the curve of your waist, just where the lace meets your skin, and your breath hitches.
his hands slide up your back, holding you steady as he moves, but he doesn’t pull away. doesn’t give you any space to breathe.
his hands slide up your back, the pressure of his palms against your skin making you arch toward him instinctively.
his lips follow the path of his hands, trailing softly up your stomach, over your ribs, and closer to your chest.
but just as you think he’s about to claim more, he shifts, and before you can react, you’re suddenly lifted off your feet.
you barely have time to let out a surprised gasp before he spins you around and slams you onto the bed with a playful grunt.
you land with a soft oof, the bed bouncing under you, and for a second you just blink up at him—
then you both break, laughing, breathless and tangled up in the sheets.
he’s grinning down at you, wide and cocky, the kind of look that dares you to do something about it.
“you good?” he teases, voice rough with leftover laughter.
“asshole,” you mutter, but you’re laughing too, grabbing a pillow and half-heartedly smacking him with it.
he catches your wrist mid-swing, twisting it just enough to yank the pillow away and toss it somewhere off the bed.
then he shifts, fast and smooth, sliding himself down right between your legs before you can even think about moving.
the laughter dies in your throat.
his hands plant firmly on either side of your hips, caging you in, his body heavy and warm against yours.
he’s still smiling—but it’s different now. slower. sharper.
his eyes drag down your body, taking in the way the lace clings to your skin, the way you’re spread out beneath him, breath just a little too fast.
“what?” you say, trying to sound unimpressed, but it comes out thinner than you mean it to.
he tilts his head like he’s considering it. like he’s savoring it.
“nothin’,” he says, voice low, “just like the view.”
his fingers skim up your thighs, tracing lazy patterns along the edges of the straps, not touching where you want him most—yet.
your pulse kicks harder.
you lift a brow at him, challenging, daring. but your body betrays you, hips shifting up just slightly toward his, chasing friction.
he notices.
he leans down, mouth brushing the shell of your ear, breath hot against your skin.
“thought you were making sure i was awake, hermosa,” he murmurs, the smile in his voice making your stomach twist tight. “seems like you’re the one that needs waking up.”
before you can throw back something smart, his mouth is on your neck—teeth grazing, lips dragging slow over your pulse—and just like that, the playfulness between you is gone.
and neither of you are laughing anymore.
five more minutes.

it was 3 a.m. when you pulled into the airport’s near-empty arrival lane, headlights casting soft light over the quiet sidewalk. the terminal doors slid open, and there he was—hood up, duffle bag slung over his shoulder.
you put the car in park. for a second, you considered getting out to meet him halfway, but the weight of the hour and the week pressed heavy on your limbs.
still, you two had talked about this in a facetime call before his flight—he’d promised to drive back. but as he walked closer, you saw it in the way his shoulders drooped, how slow his steps were. he looked just as drained as you felt, maybe more.
he tossed his bag into the back seat, then made his way to the driver’s side, opening your door without a word.
you looked up at him, catching the soft crease between his brows, the way his eyes were darker than usual with fatigue.
“i can drive,” you murmured. “i know you’re tired.”
he didn’t answer right away. just leaned down, pressed a kiss to your temple, then brushed his thumb along your cheek like he needed to feel you, to make sure you were real.
then he pulled back, nodded once, and quietly said, “no—I got it.”
you didn’t argue. you got out and walked to the other side of the car, getting into the passenger seat.
he slid into the driver’s seat beside you, shutting the door with a soft thud.
the silence that followed wasn’t uncomfortable. it was full—of late nights missed, of long flights and even longer phone calls, of things said and unsaid.
he rested his hands on the wheel for a second, then exhaled.
you watched him from the corner of your eye as he finally pulled away from the curb. streetlights passed in streaks across the windshield, the roads empty, the city asleep.
his hand found yours on the middle console, fingers slipping between yours without looking. you turned your head toward him, but he kept his eyes on the road
“you okay?” you asked, voice soft.
he gave a slow nod, jaw flexing. “yeah, just exhausted.”
you squeezed his hand gently, letting the silence settle again. there wasn’t anything either of you needed to say—not right now. it was enough that he was here. that he came home.
the drive was slow, quiet, familiar. the city blurred past, half-lit and half-asleep. you caught glimpses of gas stations, the occasional car cutting through intersections, headlights blinking past. but mostly, it was just you and him.
when he pulled into the driveway, neither of you moved at first. his hand still held yours, thumb absently brushing across your knuckles.
you brought the back of his hand to your lips, giving it a small kiss. “come on,” you said softly. “let’s go inside.”
he nodded, letting go of your hand and getting out the car to grab his bag from the back.
you walked to the front door using your keys to unlock it. dom came up behind you as you opened the front door. just then the soft jingle of a collar was the only warning before your came barreling down the hallway.
“luna,” you said closing the door behind you both, barely getting the word out before she rounded the corner.
she skidded across the hardwood in her excitement, nails tapping, tail wagging so hard it nearly threw her off balance. her eyes lit up the second she saw him.
“hey, baby girl,” dom murmured, dropping his duffle bag just in time to crouch down and catch her as she leapt up on him.
she whined, ears back, tail thumping wildly as he wrapped his arms around her like he’d missed her just as much as you had. probably more.
“you remember me, huh?” he smiled, voice hoarse with sleep and something softer. “been guarding the house while i was gone?”
you stood a few steps behind them, watching the way she curled into him like no time had passed at all.
he pressed a kiss to the top of her head, then looked up at you with a tired, crooked smile.
he stood, giving luna one last pat before grabbing his bag and following you down the hall. the house was dim, quiet, like it had been waiting too. your footsteps were slow—neither of you in any rush now that you two were finally together.
once inside the bedroom, he dropped the bag by the door. you turned to say something, but before the words could come, he pulled you into him.
his arms wrapped around your waist, your face pressing into his chest.
you exhaled against him, your fingers slipping under the hem of his hoodie, just to touch his skin.
“you smell like plane air and laundry,” you mumbled, your voice muffled against him.
“i know,” he said, voice raspy, chin resting on the top of your head. “i missed this.”
before either of you could say anything more, a soft thump hit the side of the bed. luna had jumped up, tail wagging, big eyes watching you both like she didn’t want to be left out.
he glanced over your shoulder at the bed, brow lifting slightly.
“she stole my spot,” he muttered, dry but amused.
you turned just enough to see luna nestled right into the space he always took—head on his pillow, tail giving a lazy wag like she knew exactly what she was doing.
“she’s been keeping it warm,” you offered with a small smile.
dom huffed a quiet laugh against your hair, then leaned back just enough to look at her. luna blinked at him innocently, still sprawled across his side like she owned it.
“you little traitor,” he muttered, eyes soft despite the words.
you leaned in and kissed his jaw. “you’ll win it back.”
he gave a low hum, his lips curving into a tired but content smile. “yeah, i better,” he said, giving you a quick kiss.
she gave a soft whine in response, and you both chuckled at the playful standoff.
with a deep breath, he finally pulled away from you, stepping toward the door to head to the living room. “alright, i’ll take the couch tonight.”
you turned toward him, eyes soft with affection. “no, you’re not,” you said, voice firm but with a teasing edge. “you’ve been gone for weeks. you’re not sleeping anywhere else.”
you click your tongue, a gentle sound she knows well. “come on, luna,” you say softly. “off.”
she doesn’t move at first. just stares at you with those wide, stubborn eyes, tail giving a slow, guilty wag.
she shifts her weight, like maybe if she’s cute enough, she won’t have to move at all.
“luna,” you said again, soft but firm.
at that, she lets out the tiniest huff—an actual sigh—then stands, stretches long like she’s making a point, and reluctantly pads down to the foot of the bed.
she circles once before settling there with a dramatic flop, head resting on her paws like she’s been deeply wronged.
“so much attitude for someone who doesn’t pay rent,” you mumble, crawling into bed as dom strips off his hoodie.
he took off his hoodie, leaving him in a plain black t-shirt and grey sweatpants. he tossed the hoodie over the back of the little couch in the corner without thinking, already heading toward the bed where you were waiting under the covers.
he slipped in beside you, the bed dipping with his weight. he didn’t say anything—just reached for you.
you met him halfway, arms wrapping around his middle as he pulled you in tight, like a full-body hug. your legs tangled, chests pressed close, his chin resting against your forehead. that kind of hold that says everything without needing words.
“finally,” he sighed, voice thick with sleep. “no more hotel beds.”
you smiled against him, arms squeezing gently around his waist.
then came the kisses. soft and lazy, scattered over your face. your forehead. your cheek. your nose. each one slower than the last, like he was running out of energy but couldn’t stop.
you let out a quiet laugh, your breath warm against his neck. “dom,” you whispered, “go to sleep.”
“i’m trying,” he murmured, lips brushing your temple. “you’re distracting.”
you kissed his jaw in response, eyes already closing as his arms wrapped tighter around you. his heartbeat was steady under your cheek, and the warmth between you was enough to pull you both under.
no more distance. no more time zones. no more waiting.
-
the morning light crept in slow through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room. it was quiet—the kind of stillness that only came on days where nothing was urgent, nothing pulling either of you away.
you shifted beneath the blankets, limbs still heavy with sleep, body warm from where it was pressed against his. it took you a second to register it.
your brow furrowed slightly as you blinked the sleep from your eyes. he was always up early—at the gym before you even woke up on most days, especially on off days when he had the time to train longer.
you blinked against the light, still half-asleep, turning your head slightly.
he was still there.
you blinked again. once. twice. his arm was draped across your waist, his chest rising and falling against your back. warmth seeped through every inch of where he touched you, grounding and still.
“you’re still here,” you murmured, voice low and a little raspy.
he made a low sound in response—something like a grunt, something like your name—his lips brushing your shoulder as he burrowed closer.
you shifted slightly, glancing at the clock. “dom,” you said, a little louder, your voice still thick. “you not going to the gym?”
he let out a slow, tired breath, barely audible. “five more minutes,” he murmured, hoarse and warm against your skin. his hand slid under your shirt right below your belly button, tracing slow, aimless lines on your skin.
you couldn’t help the smile that pulled at your mouth. “you’re usually gone by now.”
his eyes stayed shut, his voice still half-asleep. “yeah, well… you wouldn’t let me leave.”
you huffed a soft laugh, turning in his arms so you were facing him. “what?”
“you wouldn’t let me leave,” he repeated, his voice still thick with sleep, but now with a hint of a playful smirk tugging at his lips.
you huffed a quiet laugh. “i didn’t force you stay.”
“you kind of did.” he said, his eyes fluttering open. his hand moved up your spine, his thumb brushing lightly at the nape of your neck. “you basically had me in a head lock.”
you raised a brow, voice dry. “oh, so i trapped you? dom you’re a wrestler. I do not have that much power over you,”
his smile grew, sleep still tugging at his features. “yeah. you do.”
you stared at him for a second, then muttered, “well could’ve escaped if you really wanted to.”
“nah.” he tucked his face against your neck again. “not worth it.”
you leaned in and kissed the edge of his jaw before whispering, “so… should i make breakfast or…?”
dom sighed like you just asked him to climb a mountain. “only if you’re making those cinnamon pancakes.”
you pulled back a little, smirking. “the ones you said were too sweet?”
his face stayed buried against your skin, but his arm tightened around your waist. “yea they’re too sweet but not bad, i was just being annoying.”
you rolled your eyes, but your smile gave you away. “you? annoying? no way.”
he chuckled into your collarbone. “shocking, i know.”
you grinned, shifting in his arms. “since they’re not too sweet, i guess i could just make one pancake. just for me.”
“foul,” he muttered.
you slipped out from under his arm before he could stop you, flipping the blanket back and hopping out of bed with a small shiver. “should’ve thought about that before you disrespected my kitchen skills.
dom’s groggy laugh followed you as you stepped out of reach. “babe—don’t play.”
you raised your hands innocently, still walking backward. “I would never.”
then you darted.
you took off down the hallway, bare feet light against the floor, giggling as you heard the rustle of blankets and the soft thud of him scrambling out of bed.
“oh, now you wanna move!” you called over your shoulder.
“im still half asleep!” his voice was half-laugh, half-growl, as he followed you.
your laughter echoed through the house, and just as you rounded the corner into the kitchen, luna shot up from her bed, barking excitedly—her tail wagging like she had no idea what was happening but refused to be left out.
“luna, get her!” dom joked, voice full of amusement as he padded after you, one hand raking through his messy hair.
“she’s on my side,” you called from the other end of the kitchen, reaching for the fridge like you weren’t about to get tackled by a 6’1 wwe wrestler.
he stopped, squinting at you like you’d just challenged him to a duel.
you held up the eggs. “last chance to apologize.”
he blinked. “…for what?”
“wow. okay.” you put the eggs onto the counter and took off again—laughing right as he lunged.
and before you could say anything else, he lunged.
he caught you just before the hallway, arms around your waist as he pulled you back into him, your feet barely touching the ground.
you shrieked. luna barked again, spinning in a circle.“alright, alright!” you laughed.
he held you tight, chin on your shoulder, breath warm against your ear. “you better be making those pancakes.”
you squirmed in his arms, still breathless. “only if you say it.”
“say what?”
you turned your head just enough to see the smug look growing on your face. “that you were wrong.”
he exhaled dramatically, tightening his grip like he was considering dropping you right there on the floor. “you really need this, huh?”
“yep.”
he groaned, leaning into you with a low mumble, “fine. i was wrong.”
“about?”
“about the pancakes,” he muttered like it physically hurt to say.
“and?”
he paused.
you raised an eyebrow. “don’t make me turn off the stove.”
he sighed, defeated. “they’re not too sweet. they’re actually… really good.”
you grinned, satisfied. “see? not so hard.”
“you’re lucky i love you,” he muttered, letting you go but not before stealing a kiss to the side of your jaw.
you slipped out of his grasp, heading back toward the kitchen with a victorious sway in your step. “you’re luckier.”
he followed behind you, rubbing at his eyes, half-awake but smiling. luna trotted after both of you.
“you’re making the coffee,” you called over your shoulder.
“after all that?” he scoffed. “you owe me coffee.”
“i owe you breakfast.” you started, cracking an egg into the bowl, “you owe me manners.”
“yeah, yeah,” he muttered, opening the cabinet. “but make mine first.”
“no promises.”

cw: themes of self-worth struggles, body image issues, social media negativity, self-destructive behaviors, and emotional distress.
summary: being a female wrestler has its percs until all people can seem to comment on is your body instead of your performance.
A/N: if you’re struggling with any of these feelings, please know you’re not alone, and you deserve kindness—especially from yourself.🤍
you step through the curtain, heart still racing, adrenaline buzzing under your skin like electricity. the match had been everything you wanted it to be—fast-paced, intense, the crowd hanging onto every move. you can still hear the roar of them in your ears, feel the energy thrumming through your veins.
as soon as you make it backstage, adam pearce and hunter are there waiting.
“hell of a match,” pearce says with a nod. “that was exactly what we wanted to see out there.”
hunter grins. “you keep performing like that, and we’ll have to start talking about some bigger opportunities.”
the praise sinks in, warm and exciting, making your smile stretch wider. “thank you,” you say, practically glowing. “that means a lot coming from you both.”
you chat for another moment before finally heading toward the judgment day clubhouse, still feeling the high of the match.
but then, as you walk, you pull out your phone.
at first, the comments match how you feel.
she’s a star.
every time she steps in that ring, she gets better.
this is the future right here.
but then, they shift.
she still doesn’t have “it.”
her moves look weak.
doesn’t matter how much she trains, she’ll never be on their level.
she looks bigger than before. maybe she should focus less on wrestling and more on the gym.
another mid wrestler getting pushed for no reason.
your stomach twists.
it’s like a cold hand wrapping around your ribs, squeezing, making it harder to breathe for just a second.
you shouldn’t care. you know that.
but it lingers, sinking in deep, sticking to you like something you can’t quite shake.
you shove your phone back into your pocket, forcing yourself to let it go.
when you step into the clubhouse, everything shifts.
liv is the first to spot you, her whole face lighting up. “there she is!” she cheers, jumping up from the couch and pulling you into a quick hug. “you killed it out there!”
jd, finn, and carlito chime in with their own praise, and you grin, nodding.
“thanks, guys,” you say, voice still light, still trying to hold onto the adrenaline.
and then dom is there.
before you can even react, his arms are around you, lifting you off the ground just enough to make you laugh.
“mi amor,” he murmurs, pressing a quick kiss to your lips before setting you back down. “you were incredible.”
his hands stay on your waist, his forehead brushing yours for just a second before he leans back, studying you.
your smile doesn’t reach your eyes.
his brows knit together slightly. “you okay?”
you blink, forcing the weird feeling down, nodding a little too quickly. “yeah, of course,” you say, voice light, pushing a small smile onto your face. “felt good out there.”
his eyes linger on you for a second longer, like he’s not entirely convinced, but before he can say anything else, liv claps her hands together.
“we should go out for drinks after the show,” she suggests. “celebrate the win.”
“i’m down,” you say, nodding, and dom hums in agreement, giving you another quick kiss before starting to talk about something else—maybe the match, maybe something jd did earlier.
you try to focus, try to let yourself just enjoy the moment.
but your stomach still feels a little weird, your mind drifting back to those damn comments.
you push it down, focusing on dom’s voice, his warmth, the way he’s still holding onto you like he doesn’t want to let go.
and for now, that’s enough. or at least, you tell yourself it is.
-
it’s been a few days since your match, and tonight’s show just wrapped up.
ever since that night, you’ve been hyper-aware of everything—the way your gear fits, how you look in the mirror, and especially how much you eat.
the comments keep playing in your head like a broken record, and you can’t shake them no matter how hard you try.
you’re standing near dominik as liv, carlito, finn, and jd decide to grab some food and hang out for a bit before calling it a night.
it’s nothing fancy, just catering and some downtime, but you’re grateful for the distraction.
the group finds a table in the corner of the room, away from the noise of production crews packing up. everyone is laughing, talking about the night’s matches and just talking about everything.
you do your best to engage, smiling, laughing along when necessary, throwing in a comment here and there, but your mind is elsewhere.
in front of you is a plate of food, something you normally wouldn’t hesitate to dig into, but tonight, the food in front of you sits mostly untouched.
you poke at it with your fork, moving things around to make it look like you’ve eaten more than you actually have.
the conversation flows around you, but you’re barely listening. all you can think about is how much better you could be—how much smaller, how much sharper, how much more like the women the fans seem to idolize.
dominik is sitting next to you, one arm draped casually over the back of your chair. he’s laughing at something finn says, but his eyes flicker to your plate every so often.
after a while, he leans in close, his voice low enough that only you can hear. “you alright? you haven’t really eaten much.”
his tone is gentle, but it still makes your stomach tighten. you didn’t think anyone would notice.
you glance at him quickly before brushing it off with a smile. “yeah, just not that hungry.”
his eyes flicker to your plate, then back to you. he doesn’t say anything right away, but you can tell he’s thinking.
“you sure?” he presses, softer this time. “you’ve barely touched your food.”
“yeah,” you say, throwing in a teasing smirk to make it more convincing. “i think jd’s appetite is just making up for mine.”
that gets a chuckle out of dominik, and for a second, it seems like he’s going to let it go. but then, as the conversation at the table shifts to something else, he leans back in his chair, his arm draped casually over the back of yours, and you can feel his gaze lingering.
he watches as you take a few bites here and there but never really finish anything. he watches how you laugh along with everyone but don’t reach for the extra side of fries like you usually would.
he doesn’t say anything else about it, but you can tell he’s paying attention. and for some reason, that makes your stomach twist even more.
you don’t want him to worry. you don’t want him to see it.
so you try harder to act normal, to keep the conversation going, to make sure no one suspects anything.
-
dom had always been eager to see your new gear. whenever you mentioned getting something new made, his excitement was instant.
he loved watching you light up as you described the designs, always telling you how amazing you’d look, how incredible you’d feel in the ring wearing them.
it didn’t matter what it was—he always made you feel beautiful, always made you believe it.
but lately, you’d been having trouble seeing it yourself.
your old gear—the one you felt most like you in—was something he adored. not just because of how you looked in it, but because of how happy it made you. how confident you were the second you put it on.
he loved how you’d stand in front of the mirror in your usual gear, adjusting the straps with a little smirk, the way you’d flex just to mess with him. you owned it. you owned yourself.
he always said it wasn’t the outfit that made you look good; it was the way you wore it, the way you carried yourself.
so when you told him you had new gear, he was just as excited as always, lying back on the bed with a grin as he waited for you to change.
“can’t wait to see it, babe,” he had said, voice full of anticipation.
but now, as you step out of the bathroom, that excitement fades.
you stand in front of the full-length mirror in your shared apartment with dom, your fingers fidgeting with the hem of your one-piece.
the fabric feels foreign on your skin—tighter than what you usually wear, but not uncomfortable. it hugs you in a way that feels both unfamiliar and… forced.
it’s a deep black, sleek and shiny, hugging your body in a way that feels almost too perfect.
the material stretches across your curves, with subtle silver and purple detailing along the sides designed to slim your figure.
the cut is higher on the legs than you’re used to, exposing more skin than you’re comfortable with, but you tell yourself it’s what the fans want. it’s what will make everything easier.
the top is structured, a little more supportive than your usual designs, and the neckline is lower, daring in a way that feels strange for you.
it’s meant to balance out the curve of your body, to add curves in places that feel too soft or too wide, trying to give the illusion of something more polished, more acceptable.
you had spent hours with the seamstress, agonizing over every small detail.
this would make your thighs look smaller, you told yourself.
this cut will make your waist seem narrower.
the rational part of your mind knows it’s just clothing. it’s just gear. but every stitch feels like a small compromise.
every alteration feels like it’s chipping away at who you are, piece by piece.
it’s exactly what you thought the fans wanted—something tighter, something sleeker.
something that would stop the constant criticism, make you feel like you fit in with the rest of the roster.
maybe then the comments would slow down, maybe then the voices in your head would quiet.
but now that you’re seeing it on your body, standing in front of the mirror, all you feel is a lingering doubt. it doesn’t feel like you. it doesn’t feel right.
your fingers continue to tug at the hem, nervously adjusting it even though it doesn’t need it. you’re not sure what you’re trying to change—your body, or the way the world sees it.
dom doesn’t say anything at first. he just watches, his excitement fading into something softer, something quieter.
he sees the way your fingers won’t stay still, the way you keep tugging at the hem even though it doesn’t need adjusting.
he catches the quick, fleeting way your eyes flick over your reflection—like you’re trying to convince yourself of something.
you glance at him in the reflection, a nervous smile pulling at your lips. “so… what do you think?” your voice is steady, but there’s a slight tremor beneath it, the kind you can’t hide when you’re unsure.
he takes a deep breath, his gaze flickering between you and your reflection. there’s a pause, a shift in the air. he knows something’s not right, but he doesn’t press.
instead, he smiles softly, his eyes locking onto yours through the mirror. “you look incredible,” he says, his voice warm but careful, as if he’s searching for the right words. “you always do.”
after a moment, he stands, crossing the room in a few easy steps before stopping just behind you.
his hands find your waist—not possessive, not expectant, just there, warm and grounding. his eyes meet yours in the reflection, and his voice is softer when he finally speaks.
“It looks great,” he says, his voice careful. “but why the change? you always loved your old gear.”
you smile again, this time a little more brightly, though it doesn’t quite reach your eyes. “yeah, I know. i just thought… i thought it’s time to switch things up,” you say, trying to keep your tone light. “it looks good, right? i like it.”
dom studies you for a moment, his expression still soft but searching. he doesn’t push, though. instead, he leans in close, pressing a soft kiss to your shoulder, his lips warm against your skin.
“you look amazing,” he murmurs against you, his hands sliding around your waist, pulling you gently back against him. “no matter what you wear, you always do.”
you let yourself melt into him, feeling the comfort of his embrace, the way his touch makes everything feel just a little better. “thanks,” you whisper, your heart easing, if only for a moment.
he kisses your cheek now, his lips lingering in the way only he knows how to do. “always,” he says, his voice low and sure, like he knows exactly how you need to hear it.
you take a deep breath, resting your head back against his chest. his warmth surrounds you, and for a brief second, you feel a flicker of comfort.
but your eyes stay locked on your reflection, and the quiet doubt that has been lingering in the back of your mind never quite fades.
the reflection staring back at you doesn’t feel like the version of yourself you know, the one you’ve always been.
you stay there, silent, caught in the stillness, wondering if this—this version of you—is the one the world will want.
-
you used to love going to the gym. it made you feel strong, in control, powerful. but now? now it felt like a prison. like no matter how hard you pushed, how much you changed, it would never be enough.
the comments had only gotten worse. you had already started eating less, skipping meals when you could. you had changed your gear, making sure it flattered you more, covered what people seemed to have a problem with. but it didn’t matter. they still had something to say.
so this? pushing yourself until you couldn’t think, until your muscles screamed and your body begged you to stop—this was the last resort.
and you had been doing it for the past few workout sessions, unnoticed. or at least, you thought you had gone unnoticed.
today was no different.
you were on the treadmill next to liv, who was casually scrolling through her phone between sets. her music played softly through her earbuds, her foot tapping along to the beat.
she was relaxed, enjoying her time here. meanwhile, you were fighting to keep your legs moving, ignoring the burning in your calves, the tightness in your chest.
dom was spotting jd across the gym, but even from here, you could feel his eyes on you. he had been watching you more and more lately, like he was waiting for something to happen. you didn’t look his way. you didn’t need to. you just kept running.
“you’ve been going kinda crazy lately,” liv said, pulling an earbud out as she adjusted the strap on her sports bra. “like… more than usual.”
“i’m just trying to be better,” you said, keeping your pace steady even as your body begged you to slow down.
“babes, you’re already killing it,” she insisted, turning to face you fully now. “you don’t need to push yourself harder.”
“i could be better.” the words slipped out before you could stop them, sharper than you intended.
liv’s brows pulled together. “better? what does that even mean? you—”
“just drop it, liv.”
she held up her hands in surrender, but she didn’t look convinced.
you reached for your water bottle, pretending like the conversation never happened, but as soon as you wrapped your fingers around it, you realized they were shaking. badly.
you quickly put the bottle back in the cupholder before she could notice. then, without another word, you turned the treadmill up higher.
later, you moved to weights. your arms were already aching, your muscles tight and sore, but that didn’t stop you from loading more weight onto the bar.
the logical part of you knew you should take it easy, that your body was already at its limit, but the other part—the one fueled by every cruel comment, every lingering glance in the mirror—told you to keep going.
liv was beside you, wiping sweat off her forehead, catching her breath between sets. dom and jd were a few feet away, talking between their reps, but every so often, dom’s eyes flicked toward you. watching. waiting. you ignored him.
“maybe you should take some weight off,” liv said, her tone casual but her eyes cautious.
you tightened your grip on the bar. “don’t worry, liv. i got it.” you smirked, trying to play it off like it was easy, like you weren’t already trembling under the strain.
“babes, seriously,” she pressed. “you’re gonna hurt yourself.”
“liv,” you snapped, a little too sharp. “i got it.”
she sighed, stepping back, but you could tell she wasn’t convinced.
you exhaled sharply, adjusting your stance, gripping the bar tighter. then, with all the strength you could muster, you pulled.
pain shot through your arms instantly, fire spreading through your legs as you struggled to straighten up. the weight was heavier than you expected, heavier than it should have been, but you refused to let go. your body screamed at you to stop, your grip faltering for just a second, your vision blurring at the edges.
you nearly lost your balance.
but you held it. you had to.
when you finally set the bar down, your breath came in ragged gasps, your hands shaking at your sides.
you quickly turned your back, pretending to move on to the next exercise, but you knew it was pointless.
you tried to shake it off, to pretend your body wasn’t screaming at you, to act like everything was fine.
but as you moved to the next workout, your legs felt heavier, your arms weaker. every rep, every movement felt like you were dragging yourself through quicksand, but you refused to stop.
stopping meant failure. stopping meant proving them right.
you grabbed a kettlebell for squats, positioning yourself in front of the mirror. liv was finishing her set beside you, glancing your way every few seconds.
you ignored her, just like you ignored the way your body swayed slightly as you lowered into your first squat.
keep going.
you tightened your grip, pushing yourself through another rep, and another. but on the fourth, your vision blurred at the edges, dark spots dancing in front of your eyes. your balance faltered—just for a second—but liv noticed.
“okay, that’s enough,” she said, stepping closer.
“liv, don’t,” you warned, straightening up too fast, dizziness rushing over you like a wave.
she frowned. “you’re literally about to pass out.”
“i’m fine,” you muttered, blinking rapidly, trying to clear your vision.
but then, the kettlebell slipped.
not completely, not enough to drop it, but just enough for it to slip against your fingers before you caught it, just enough to make your stomach flip with panic.
and of course, dom saw.
before you could even process it, dom was already on his way over. he dropped his own bar with a clang, barely acknowledging jd as he walked straight toward you.
“hey.” his voice was closer than you expected, low, firm, impossible to ignore.
you shook your head, already moving. “not now, dom.”
“yeah, now.”
you were a few feet away from liv and jd now, but their stolen glances told you they were still listening. you grabbed your water bottle, taking a long sip, trying to steady your breathing.
“i’m fine,” you said, voice even, controlled.
“bullshit.”
you rolled your eyes, wiping sweat from your forehead as you took another sip. but your hands—your damn hands—were still shaking, and you knew dom saw. his stare burned into you, it felt as if he was picking you apart.
“dom, just drop it,” you muttered, setting your bottle down. you turned to walk away, to move on to the next workout, but he stepped in front of you, blocking your path.
“no.” his voice was low, sharp. “not this time.”
you exhaled sharply, glancing around the gym. liv and jd were still pretending to focus on their workouts, but their exchanged looks told a different story. embarrassment flared hot in your chest. why couldn’t he just let this go? why did he have to push?
you lowered your voice, words clipped. “i said i’m fine.”
dom’s eyes didn’t waver. “y/n, you’re shaking.”
you let out a short, humorless laugh. “because i’m working out.”
his jaw tensed. “no,” he said, voice barely above a whisper but cutting through the gym noise like a blade. “you’re shaking because you’re overdoing it.”
your chest tightened, but you forced yourself to stand straighter, to breathe steadier, to make it look like he was wrong. “dom, i’m serious, i’m fine,” you muttered, stepping past him before he could say anything else.
but he didn’t let it go. of course, he didn’t.
“y/n—”
you ignored him, reaching for a lighter dumbbell, acting like that had been your plan all along. maybe if you looked more in control, maybe if you just kept going, he’d back off.
you positioned yourself in front of the mirror, grip tightening around the weight as you started an easier set. dom didn’t move at first, just stood there, watching, waiting—probably expecting you to slip up again.
you wouldn’t. you couldn’t.
liv and jd exchanged another glance, their efforts to pretend they weren’t watching becoming more pathetic by the second.
dom let out a sharp exhale, dragging a hand over his face before finally—finally—stepping back toward jd. but even as he picked up his own weights again, his eyes never really left you.
-
the judgment day clubhouse was quiet, with everyone out doing a group promo it left just you there, you and the distant sound of thousands of voices cheering.
despite it being just you, the clubhouse didn’t feel peaceful. it feels suffocating.
you sit there, still in your gear, staring at your phone screen, barely able to breathe past the lump in your throat.
the sting of the match, the pain in your body, all of it fades to the background as the words on the screen dig into you, deeper than anything else could.
“she looks huge next to the others.”
“she’s too slow, too heavy, no wonder she lost.”
“maybe if she actually took care of herself, she’d be something.”
“jesus, does she even try?”
you do. you have.
you’ve changed everything. the way you train, the way you eat, the way you exist.
you changed your gear, covering up the parts they seemed to criticize over and over, trying to convince yourself that maybe—maybe—if you looked different, they’d stop.
you stopped eating things you loved. you started pushing harder in workouts even when your body begged you to stop.
you smiled less, laughed less, because it all felt fake anyway. you gave up everything that made you happy because you thought maybe if you just kept changing, if you kept hurting, they’d finally shut up.
but they never do.
you drop your phone onto the couch next to you, your hands shaking. your vision blurs, the tears welling up before you can even try to stop them.
your chest is so tight, your whole body feels like it’s folding in on itself.
you press your hands against your face, trying to stifle the sobs building up in your throat. you don’t want to cry. you don’t want to fall apart again. but it’s all crashing down on you at once—the exhaustion, the hunger, the pain of forcing yourself into someone you’re not just to be acceptable.
a few sobs escape you, and you suck in a shaky breath, willing yourself to get it together.
then the door opens.
you don’t even have to look up to know it’s dom.
his footsteps pause for half a second before he moves toward you, slow and careful.
“hey,” he says, voice softer than usual. “what’s going on?”
you shake your head, quickly swiping at your face, trying to hide the mess of tears. “nothing. i’m fine.”
lie.
dom doesn’t move for a second, but you feel his presence settle next to you on the couch. he’s watching you.
“don’t do that,” he says quietly. “don’t say you’re fine when you’re—” he stops. “baby, you’re shaking.”
you clench your jaw, hating how easily he sees through you. you turn your body slightly, trying to angle yourself away from him, but it’s useless. he’s already seen everything.
his eyes drop to your phone for a split second, and you know—you know—he must’ve caught a glimpse of the screen before it went dark.
“what the hell is this?” his voice changes, something rougher beneath it, and you immediately grab your phone, locking it, clutching it in your hands like you can make it disappear.
“nothing,” you say, but your voice is thin, weak.
dom reaches out, not to take the phone, but to tilt your chin up so you have no choice but to look at him.
your vision blurs all over again.
“tell me the truth,” he says, his voice soft and comforting. “please.”
you shake your head, throat too tight to speak.
but dom already knows.
you see it in his face—the way his brows knit together, his jaw tightens, how his eyes burn with something between heartbreak and fury.
“you’ve been doing all of this,” he says, his voice so careful, like he’s afraid to even say it out loud, “changing everything that you love about yourself… because of them?”
you can’t answer. you can’t breathe.
but you don’t have to.
because dom already knows. and it’s killing him.
“baby,” he murmurs, and his voice is wrecked. “you—why didn’t you tell me?”
you shake your head again, a tear slipping free, and you swipe at it, hating how weak you feel. “because it wouldn’t change anything,” you whisper.
dom flinches.
like you just physically hit him.
“it wouldn’t change—” he cuts himself off, running a hand over his face, exhaling hard. “jesus christ.”
he looks at you again, and this time, there’s anger. not at you. never at you.
but at them. at every single person who has ever made you feel like you were anything less than perfect. at the people who picked you apart when all you ever did was give them everything you had.
his hand moves to cup your jaw, his thumb wiping away another tear you didn’t even realize had fallen.
“listen to me,” he says, voice firm, unwavering. “you are everything. you hear me?”
your lip trembles.
“you don’t need to change a damn thing about yourself for them. not for anyone.” his thumb brushes your cheek again. “i don’t care what they say. they don’t know you. they don’t know how hard you work, how much you give. they don’t see how fucking incredible you are.”
your breath shudders, and dom leans in, pressing his forehead against yours.
“i see you,” he murmurs, his voice breaking just a little. “and i love you. not some version of you they think you should be.”
your whole body shakes.
because the way he says it, the way his voice cracks like he’s hurting just as much as you are, it makes something deep inside you shatter.
you grip onto his hoodie, fingers curling into the fabric, and before you can stop yourself, you break.
his arms move to wrap around you, holding you together while you completely fall apart.
your body shakes, sobs wracking your chest, but dom doesn’t let go. he doesn’t even loosen his grip. if anything, he holds you tighter.
his hand cradles the back of your head, his other arm strong around your waist, grounding you, keeping you from slipping any further into the darkness that’s been swallowing you whole.
“i’ve got you,” he whispers against your hair, his voice thick with emotion. “i’ve always got you.”
your knees are still pulled up to your chest, your body curled in on itself, but you can’t stay like this—not when dom is right there, warm and steady and here.
slowly, hesitantly, you uncurl just enough to shift, moving closer, pressing yourself against him.
he doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t let you pull away even for a second. he moves with you, adjusting so you can tuck yourself against him properly.
his arms tighten around you, securing you in place as your fingers fist into the fabric of his hoodie, clinging to him like he’s the only thing keeping you from breaking apart completely.
his breath is warm against your temple as he shifts, his lips ghosting over your skin, his voice softer now, but still carrying that same fierce intensity.
“you’re perfect.”
your chest heaves, another sob breaking free, because how can he say that?
how can he look at you—like this, a mess, broken, exhausted, torn apart by your own reflection—and still say that?
his hand tilts your chin up, forcing you to meet his eyes. they’re dark, filled with something unshakable.
“eres perfecta, mi amor.”
the words hit you harder than you expect, the rawness in his voice, the way he says it like it’s an undeniable truth.
like nothing in the world could ever make him think otherwise.
your lip trembles, fresh tears spilling down your cheeks, and dom doesn’t hesitate—he wipes them away, his thumbs brushing over your skin with so much care it makes your heart ache.
“you don’t have to do this to yourself,” he says, his forehead pressing against yours again. “you don’t have to change. not for them, not for anyone.” his voice drops even lower, barely above a whisper. “not even for me.”
you let out a shaky breath, your body still trembling in his arms.
“but i—” you choke on the words, the weight of everything crushing down on you all over again. “it’s never enough. no matter what i do, it’s never enough.”
his jaw clenches, his grip on you tightening just a fraction. “it’s enough for me,” he says, firm and certain. “you are enough for me. you always have been.”
your vision blurs again, but this time, it’s not just from pain. it’s from the way he’s looking at you, like you’re something precious. like you’ve never been anything less than perfect in his eyes.
you shift again, needing to be closer, needing to feel him. you move your legs, adjusting so you can curl into his lap, your arms wrapping around his waist as you bury your face into his chest.
he leans in, his lips brushing against your forehead, lingering there.
“no more of this,” he murmurs against your skin. “no more hurting yourself for people who don’t even know you.”
he pulls back just enough to look at you again, his hands still cupping your face.
“promise me,” he says, voice thick with emotion. “promise me you’ll stop.”
you swallow hard, your breath still shaky, but when you look at him—really look at him—something in you starts to shift.
you nod. just a little. just enough.
dom exhales, relief flashing through his eyes, but there’s still so much emotion there, still so much love.
he presses his lips to your forehead once more before pulling you into his chest, holding you like he’ll never let go.
“te amo,” he murmurs against your hair. “just the way you are.”

what you saw was merely a shell of the girl you used to be, a ghost of your former self. the vibrant, confident person you once knew had faded, leaving behind a stranger you could hardly recognize.
you were brought out of your trance by a voice. you closed your eyes, trying to ground yourself before looking at your door and seeing clay. he was one of the only friends your boyfriend had that you actually liked.
clay was always kind to jeff, always there to help him out when he needed it. "are you ready?" clay asked gently, his voice soft and understanding. you inhaled softly, taking one more look in the mirror, trying to muster the strength you needed.
the truth was, you weren't ready. you weren’t ready to face the truth. for fucks sake your boyfriend was dead, and the weight of that reality was crushing you. the memories of him flashed through your mind, each one a bittersweet reminder of what you had lost.
the room felt colder, and the air seemed heavier as you struggled to find the words. the pain was still raw, and the thought of facing the world without him was almost unbearable.
your eyes fell on your dresser before looking back to clay. “yeah, give me a second.” you told him softly. he looked at you for a moment, but it wasn’t the look you were expecting.
you expected him to look at you like everyone else did, like you were fragile glass that could shatter with the wrong word, glance, or touch.
Instead, clay looked at you with understanding, It was a look that said he understood, not that he was pitying you, and he wouldn’t understand it, but it was all that you needed in that moment.
he nodded, a small but meaningful gesture, before quietly heading downstairs, leaving you in your room.
your eyes fell back on your dresser, more specifically the framed picture of you and jeff. you walked over to it picking it up, you gently ran your fingers over it. smiling softly as you examine it.
It was taken last christmas, it was dark and snowing, bright christmas lights scattered in with the trees behind the both of you. he was stood behind you his arm wrapped against your neck, your hand was on his forearm the both of you smiling widely.
as you stare at the photo, the world around you fades, and you find yourself transported back to that moment.
flashback.
the two of you walked slowly down the narrow path, your fingers intertwined as you both took in the display of lights that adorned the park.
as you reached the end of the path, you found yourselves standing before a grand tree, its branches adorned with a cascade of twinkling white lights. "that’s what I’d imagine the stars would look like in a perfect place.” you murmured to jeff, your eyes filled with wonder as you gazed up at the shimmering lights. jeff, however, had his eyes fixed on you, captivated by your expression of awe.
"this is perfect enough for me.” he said, you looked at him realizing he wasn’t looking at the lights but at you. with a soft laugh, you turn to meet his gaze.
"your’re so annoying." you chuckled, playfully nudging him as he shook his head, a smile tugging at his lips.
"I'm just speaking my truth.” he replied with a shrug.
"yeah, whatever.”you responded, rolling your eyes but unable to suppress a smile. you turned your attention back to the lights. "I'm talking about the lights, though."
unbeknownst to you, jeff had slipped away from your side. he was now crouched in the snow, gathering it into a compact ball. "I see them, baby. I was just saying.” he called out, his voice filled with mischief.
you shook your head, still focused on the mesmerizing lights, when suddenly you felt a cold, wet impact on your arm. startled, you turned to see jeff grinning mischievously at you, a fresh snowball in hand. "jeff!" you exclaimed, your voice a mix of surprise and amusement.
"what?" he laughed, trying to play it off as innocent, as if you hadn’t just caught him red-handed in the act.
"oh, that’s how you want to play?" you challenged, darting to the other side of the path, quickly scooping up some snow and forming it into a snowball. with a swift motion, you hurled it at jeff, hitting him squarely on the shoulder.
"oh, you are so on, y/l/n.” he declared, his eyes sparkling with the reflection of the lights. he swiftly retaliated, launching another snowball in your direction.
the snowball fight escalated quickly. you ducked behind a nearby bench, gathering more snow to create more snowballs.
jeff mirrored your actions, crouching behind a tree as he prepared his own snowballs.
they flew back and forth, some hitting each other while others missed, breaking apart.
you laughed as one of jeff's snowballs grazed your arm, sending a cold shiver down your spine. "I thought you play baseball atkins?” you called out teasingly. “you’re gonna have to do better than that!" you stood up to launch a perfectly aimed snowball that caught jeff right in the chest.
jeff responded with a flurry of snowballs, forcing you to dive behind a nearby bush for cover. you peeked out, spotting jeff as he tried to sneak closer.
quickly, you formed another snowball and lobbed it over the bush, hitting him on the chest again.
"I taught you well." jeff called out, grinning. he took a running start, gathering snow as he went, and launched a snowball that caught you off guard, hitting you on the back.
giggling, you gathered more snow and threw it back at him. "call a truce!" jeff yelled. you shook your head, running to take cover behind a tree. you peeked out from behind the tree, trying to see him, but you couldn’t.
you giggled softly as you turned back and screamed when you saw him standing right in front of you. jeff immediately put his hand over your mouth, giggling as he did.
"y/l/n, people are gonna think I’m murdering you back here.” he laughed softly, making you laugh too. after a second, he removed his hand from your mouth, still chuckling. you both stood there, breathless from laughter and the cold, the snow continuing to fall gently around you.
"truce.” you said, sticking out your pinky and looking up at him with a playful smile. he rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his grin as he linked his pinky with yours.
"truce.” he said with a smile, “now let’s head back.”
you nodded, and the two of you made your way back onto the path. jeff carefully helped you trudge through the thick, heavy snow, ensuring you wouldn't slip or fall. your hold on his forearm strong.
the snow crunched beneath your boots with each step, and you could feel the cold nipping at your cheeks.
you guys managed to make it back onto the path. "I think in order to seal our truce, we should take a picture.” you suggested, looking up at him with a playful glint in your eyes. he looked down at you, a smirk spreading across his face as the idea amused him.
"I think that’s a good idea.” jeff said, his smile softening as he reached into his pocket to pull out your phone. you both huddled together, the cold air making your cheeks a rosy pink.
your back pressed firmly against his chest, and he loosely wrapped his forearm around your neck, he leaned his head against yours.
you grabbed his arm with one hand for balance, leaning into him while you raised your phone to snap the picture.
as you both looked at the picture, you couldn't help but smile at it. "perfect now it’s sealed" he said, grinning as you saved the photo. jeff chuckled, his breath visible in the frosty air.
you laugh softly, the sound mingling in the crisp air. jeff glances at your phone time, then back at you with a soft smile. "let's hurry up and finish this so I can take you to get hot chocolate at monet's after.” he says, before he wraps his arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer for warmth as the two of you turn around to walk back up the path.
end of flashback.
a tear falls down your cheek, you quickly wipe it. remembering the feel of jeff's arms around you, the sound of his laughter- it all comes rushing back and for a brief, beautiful instant, it's as if he's right there with you again.
you take a deep breath, knowing that in just a few moments, you'll need to stand before everyone at his memorial service to honor his life and the love you shared. but for now, you just want to imagine that he is here next to you, that everything is okay, that everything is perfect.
after a moment, you sigh softly and place the photo back down on the dresser. you kiss the tips of your fingers before gently touching the picture one last time. then, you grab the paper filled with your heartfelt words, written meticulously from front to back.
leaving your room, you close the door gently behind you. as you walk down the stairs, you stop on the last step and see your parents and clay speaking in hushed voices. they don’t notice you right away, forcing you to clear your throat softly. the three of them turn to look at you, a bit startled. “hey, honey.” your mom says gently, moving over to you as you step onto the floor.
“you friend clay is going to ride with us over there.” she explains. you nod, clutching the paper tightly, afraid to let it go. clay glances down at the paper, understanding that it holds your speech, the words you’ve prepared to say goodbye.
she gives you a small smile, grabbing your hand gently. you smile back at her weakly.
the drive to the school was silent, the only sounds being the hum of the car engine and the occasional whoosh of passing vehicles. It was almost ironic that it was raining, the droplets on the window creating a mesmerizing pattern as they slid down.
your parents finally arrived at the school, and you all stepped out of the car, walking into the gym where the rest of the school had gathered.
the gym was filled with a somber atmosphere, the low murmur of conversations blending with the soft patter of rain outside.
your parents turned to you with gentle expressions. "we'll be sitting next to jeff's parents if you need us.” your mom said softly, her voice filled with understanding and support. you looked at her, managing a tight-lipped smile.
you dad stepped forward, pulling you into a warm embrace and kissing you gently on the head. you mom followed, wrapping you in a comforting hug, holding you close as if to shield you from the pain for just a moment longer.
after a moment she pulls back smiling sadly before they walked away, leaving you and clay standing together, your emotions still swirling in your head. "I can’t do this, clay.” you told him, inhaling sharply.
he turned to you, his eyes filled with worry and confusion. "what do you-“
you shook your head, feeling the urge to run out of the gym right then and there. "I mean I can’t go up there and talk in front of everyone."
clay's expression softened, and he placed a his hand on your shoulder. "hey, listen to me. I know it's hard, and I know what I’m about to say is corny, but it’s true.” he paused trying to find the right words. “jeff would want you to be strong. he believed in you, and he’d want you to believe in yourself too."
you took a deep breath, trying to steady your racing heart. "just take it one step at a time.” he continued, his voice steady and comforting. "If you need to go outside for a moment, I'll go with you."
you nodded, you watched as principal bolan walked up to the stand. "we are gathered here today to remember and honor jeff, a bright young man who had a bright future ahead of him.” he began, his words echoing through the silent gym. he called up jeff’s parents, your heart ached as you took them in.
as you watched them take their place behind the stand you looked at their faces which were etched with grief, your mind began to race. memories of jeff flooded your thoughts, but you couldn't seem to focus on any single one.
the room seemed to close in on you, and the weight of the moment made it hard to breathe.
your thoughts were a chaotic jumble, making it impossible to think straight.
suddenly, you felt a gentle touch on my shoulder. It was clay bringing you back to reality. you took a deep breath and tried to steady yourself. principal bolan's voice broke through your haze, "and now, jeff’s parents would like to invite his girlfriend, y/n to the stand."
you took a deep breath and slowly walked up to the stage, each step feeling heavier than the last. your heart pounded in your chest as you approached the microphone. as you reached the stand, you hesitated for a second, gathering your thoughts and trying to calm the whirlwind in my mind.
you then stepped up to the microphone, the cold metal sending a shiver through your fingers. you adjusted it slightly, the sound of your movements amplified through the speakers.
finally, you lifted your gaze and looked out at the sea of faces sitting on the bleachers. the room was filled with people, some faces you recognized, others you didn’t. the collective silence was almost overwhelming.
you cleared your throat, hoping to dislodge the lump that had formed there. the sound echoed slightly, breaking the heavy silence for a brief moment. you took another deep breath, unfolding the paper.
your trembling fingers ghost over the words you have written down, you looked to clay who nods.
taking another deep breath, you began, "I- I never thought I’d have to write this. call me naive, but I thought jeff and I would be together until we were old and had gray hair." you let out a humorless laugh at the unrealistic dream. "If a year ago, someone had told me I’d be standing here, giving this speech, I’d have never believed them. but here I am."
you inhale sharply, feeling the tears sting your eyes. "I remember the day I met jeff like it was yesterday. It was two years ago." you read the words off the paper, recounting the memory that was now so long ago. but you didn’t need to. you knew that day was etched into your memory forever.
"It was here, in this school.” you continued, your voice trembling slightly. "I was walking to the library, I had books in my hand, i remember I was so stressed-“
flashback.
you hurried through the somewhat empty hallways, your mind racing with the sheer number of tasks you needed to complete before the end of the day.
the pressure was mounting, and it felt like you had about fifty things to do in such a short amount of time.
just as you were mentally organizing your to-do list, someone collided with you forcefully, sending your belongings scattering to the ground and causing you to stumble back a step.
you frustration peaked as you looked up and recognized the culprit- montgomery de la cruz. “what the fuck, monty?!” you exclaimed, your voice filled with exasperation. he continued walking past you, his arms raised in a gesture of surrender.
“sorry, y/n.” he called back, not even breaking his stride. you rolled your eyes, annoyance bubbling up inside you as you bent down to gather the scattered papers that had fallen from your grasp and were now strewn all over the floor.
you let out a huff of frustration, “you’re a dick!” you exclaimed, your voice echoing in the hallway. just then, you heard another voice chiming in.
“come on monty.” the voice said, you looked up and saw a baseball player standing there. you couldn’t recall his name, but you definitely recognized him- he was one of the jocks, one of liberty highs golden boys.
you glanced back at monty, who was laughing cockily as he made his way outside to the fields.
shaking your head, you returned to picking up your scattered papers. just as you were about to reach for one that had landed a bit farther away, someone else picked it up for you.
you looked up to see the guy who’d said something, he was one of monty’s friends. “oh, thank you.” you said, standing up and trying to organize your papers as he handed you the ones he had picked up.
“sorry he’s such an ass.” he said laughing, a hint of apology in his voice.
you rolled your eyes and let out a dry laugh. “there’s no need to apologize for him. believe it or not I’m used to monty.” you replied with a sigh, making the guy chuckle.
dot a moment, the two of you stood there in silence, just looking at each other. then he broke the silence. “my name’s jeff.”
“y/n.” you said, and he smiled warmly.
end of flashback.
“a few days after that, we started talking, and before I knew it, we were inseparable.” you choked on your words, your voice trembling with emotion. “I thought we were inseparable.” you paused, inhaling softly, trying to steady yourself.
“every moment jeff and I spent together was perfect. he was the perfect boyfriend- thoughtful, caring, and always there when I needed him.” you paused again, a tear slipping from your eye, tracing a path down your cheek. “he was the best thing that ever happened to me. I thought he was my forever, but I had seemed to forget that nothing is forever.”
you paused once more, your eyes welling up with tears, your vision blurring. your voice broke as you continued, the pain evident in every word. “the night I found out jeff died was like having the ground ripped out from under me. It felt as if my entire world had shattered in an instant.”
flashback.
the music was blaring, reverberating through every corner of jessica’s house, which was packed with people. the air was thick with the mingling scents of various perfumes and colognes, mixed with the unmistakable aroma of beer, snacks and sweat.
as you weaved your way through the crowd to the living room where you had left jeff to go to the bathroom. you stopped seeing he was no longer there and that a group of people had begun to play such and blow in yours and his spot on the couch. you began to scan the room for familiar faces, until you finally spotted sheri in the kitchen.
you made your way over to her pushing past people, “hey sheri.” you called out as you finally made it to her, raising your voice to be heard over the deafening music. she looked up from her red solo cup, a bright smile spreading across her face as she recognized you.
“hey y/n!” she responded.
“what a party, hmm?” you remarked looking around at the lively scene around you.
“yeah, it’s wild!” she replied, taking another sip from her cup. you watched as she seemed to focus on something else.
you looked around trying to find jeff so you could let sheri enjoy her night. “have you seen jeff?” you asked, glancing around the crowded room once more.
she pointed towards the front yard. “he’s out there talking to clay.”
with a grateful nod, you navigated your way through the crowd of people, finally stepping outside into the cooler night air.
there, amongst the scattered groups of people, you spotted jeff and clay.
a smile spread across your face as you made your way towards them. “clay, is jeff bothering you?” you called out teasingly, causing both boys to turn and look at you, jeff looking at you with an amused expression.
“hey baby.” jeff greeted you, his face lighting up with a wide grin. “I was just trying to convince clay here to stay a while longer.”
“I’m going home.” clay responded, his expression tinged with frustration. he made a move to leave, but jeff quickly intervened.
“just hang with me and y/n for a while, man.” clay’s gaze shifted from jeff to you, and you offered him a gentle, reassuring smile.
clay was one of the few friends of jeff’s that you genuinely liked, the only one who seemed to truly care about him. “I’m going on a beer run soon, come with me.”
your eyebrows furrowed in concern as you looked at jeff. “are you driving?” you asked, the worry evident in your voice.
jeff turned to face both you and clay, holding up his solo cup. “It’s coca cola, my friend and beautiful girlfriend.” he assured you. you couldn’t help but roll your eyes playfully at his response.
to be absolutely certain, you took the cup from jeff’s hand and tasted it, confirming without a doubt that it was indeed coca cola. jeff rolled his eyes playfully at your cautiousness, leaning in to plant a light, affectionate kiss on your cheek as you handed his cup back. “It’s coke.” you told clay, feeling a bit more at ease now.
jeff, sensing your lingering concern, added, “I had two beers, two hours ago. I’m good.”
you nodded, feeling a bit more reassured by his explanation. you and jeff had been to your fair share of parties together over the past two years, and he always made sure he was sober when he drove. you trusted him.
“no. no.” clay said, shaking his head. you could tell something was up with him, but it wasn’t your place to pry. “thanks, jeff. I'm gonna take a long walk home and consider the wreckage that is my life.”
you eyes softened with empathy, and jeff shook his head. “you're a funny dude, clay.”
“so I've been told.” clay said with a hint of resignation in his voice. “see you both monday?” he asked.
“yeah.” jeff replied, taking a step back as he watched clay begin to walk away.
“take care of yourself clay.” you added, he looked back at you and nodding with a tight-lipped smile.
you heard the guys shout clay’s name as he started to walk away. “see you guys.” he told them before continuing.
you and jeff shared a concerned look, both of you clearly worried about him. “he didn’t look too good.”you said, watching clay as he walked off into the distance.
“no, he didn’t.” jeff agreed, also watching as clay left. you turned to jeff, wrapping your arms around his neck, and his hands instinctively found your waist, holding you close.
“you’re a good friend.” you told him, examining his face as he finally tore his eyes off clay to look at you with a soft, contemplative expression.
“I try.” he responded modestly, causing you to tilt your head slightly at his humble words.
“he’s lucky to have you.” you said with sincerity, and he smiled softly before leaning in to kiss you.
the kiss was soft, slow, and sweet. It lasted just a moment before he pulled away. “well, I’ve gotta go on this beer run. wanna come?” he asked.
you pulled away from him, grabbing your phone to check the time, wincing as you read it. “I would, but I can’t. I’ve got a curfew.” you replied regretfully.
jeff groaned playfully, but you knew he understood. you laughed, rolling your eyes. “I know, I know. I would stay longer, but I’m already in trouble for pushing it last weekend.”
he admired your face, gently moving a loose strand of hair out of your eyes. “nah, baby, I get it.” he said with a reassuring smile.
you smiled, giving him another kiss, savoring the moment before he grabbed your hand and led you towards his car. “shit, sheri’s blocking me in. I’ll be back in a sec.” he said, letting go of your hand and disappearing into the house to find her.
you pulled out your phone, quickly texting your parents to let them know you’d be home in about ten minutes. just as you hit send, you felt a hand gently rest on your waist.
you turned around and smiled at jeff. “well, sheri has to get her keys, so in the meantime, I’ll walk you to your car.” he said with a charming grin.
“such a gentleman.” you teased, laughing softly. your laughter was contagious, and jeff chuckled too as the two of you began the short walk to your car parked on the other side of the street.
“I try.” he joked, making you smile as you unlocked your car. jeff opened the door for you, ensuring you were safely inside before closing it gently.
you put on your seatbelt and turned to look at him. he had his arms resting on the base of your window, his head comfortably perched atop them.
you smiled at him, feeling a warm sense of contentment. “I’ll see you tomorrow?” you asked, your voice hopeful.
he smiled lopsidedly, his eyes twinkling. “of course.” he replied, the promise hanging in the air as you started your car.
you looked into his eyes, feeling a strange but compelling feeling. “okay then, I’ll see you tomorrow.” you told him gently, trying to make out the unfamiliar way he was gazing at you. It was different, more profound than ever before.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” he echoed, leaning his head into your car and pressing his lips to yours. the kiss lingered, neither of you wanting to pull away, savoring every second of the connection.
when he finally did pull back, jeff kept his eyes closed for a moment, a serene smile playing on his lips. when he opened his eyes, they sparkled with a warmth that made your knees feel weak. “I love you, y/l/n.” he said softly, the words filled with sincerity.
“I love you too, jeff.” you replied just as softly, your heart swelling with emotion. he tapped gently on the base of your window, a tender gesture.
“alright, drive safe, baby. sweet dreams.” he said, his voice filled with affection.
“sweet dreams.” you repeated, watching as he winked at you before walking off into the night.
you laughed softly to yourself, before finally driving off.
——
It was the morning after the party, and you slowly stirred awake, turning around in your bed to look out the window. the soft light of dawn filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow in the room.
you weren't quite ready to get up yet, so you lay there for a few moments, savoring the peace and quiet.
with a sigh, you rubbed your eyes and slowly sat up, feeling the weight of sleep still lingering. your gaze drifted to your nightstand where your phone lay.
you reached for it, expecting to see a text from jeff. however, the screen remained blank- no message, no response to the texts you had sent last night. a knot of worry began to form in your stomach.
your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you typed out a quick message.
good morning
did you get in safe last night?
pls text me when you get this.
I love you
after hitting send, you sighed again and headed to the bathroom, hoping for a reply soon.
as you brushed your teeth, the silence felt heavy. you tried to shake off the unease that settled in your stomach, telling yourself that he was probably just sleeping in.
after all, jessica's party had likely run late into the night. you rinsed your mouth and stared at your reflection in the mirror, trying to convince yourself that everything was fine.
you got ready for the day, putting on your clothes and fixing your hair. every few minutes, your eyes darted to your phone, hoping to see a notification that would bring some reassurance.
the anticipation was killing you, making the simple act of getting dressed feel like an eternity.
heading downstairs, you were met with an unexpected and unsettling sight. your parents were sitting at the kitchen table, hand in hand, tissues scattered around them.
your mom's eyes were red and swollen from crying, and your dad looked completely drained, his face devoid of any emotion. the scene was so out of the ordinary that it stopped you in your tracks.
confusion and concern washed over you as you approached them cautiously. "mom? dad? what's wrong?" you asked, your voice trembling slightly with a mix of fear and curiosity. "did something happen?"
"sit down, sweetheart.” your mom said, her voice shaky and barely above a whisper.
you did as she asked, your heart beginning to pound in your chest like a drum. "what's wrong? what happened?" you asked again, the restlessness and anxiety building up inside you.
the silence that followed was deafening, and you could feel the tension in the room thickening with each passing second.
as your leg began to bounce up and down, a palpable sense of anxiety filled the room. your dad took a deep breath, his eyes meeting yours with a look of profound sadness. “y/n, jeff he-“
your heart stopped, and you sat up straighter, tension gripping you. “he what, dad?” you said, the words coming out harsher than you intended.
“jeff was in a car accident last night.”
you froze, a whirlwind of confusion and hurt sweeping over you. “i-is he okay? what hospital is he in? can we go see him? we have to go see him.” you said, desperation lacing your voice.
a tear rolled down your mom’s cheek as she struggled to maintain her composure. “honey…” she began, but her voice broke, unable to continue.
you looked at her, hoping she wasn’t about to confirm your worst fears. “mom, what’s wrong?” you pleaded, your voice rising with panic. “you’re scaring me. Is he okay?!”
your mom grabbed your hand, her grip trembling. “sweetie, he-” she began, but her voice faltered. your dad’s voice was barely a whisper as he said, “he didn’t make it. he died in the accident.”
the words hit you like a ton of bricks, and you felt as if the air had been knocked from your lungs. In that moment, it was as if you had left your body; your physical form was present, but you were watching yourself from outside of it.
“you’re lying.” you said, laughing humorlessly. “like- it’s some fucked up prank, right?”
your mom’s eyes fluttered closed as she inhaled softly, trying to steady herself. You looked at them, taking in their reactions- the sorrow etched on your dad’s face and the tears streaming down your mom’s cheeks. “no, no.” you said, shaking your head in disbelief.
“please, this can’t be true.” you continued, your voice rising in desperation. “there must be some mistake. jeff can’t be gone. I saw him just last night, he was just-“ you inhale sharply. “this isn’t real. It can’t be real.”
your dad placed a gentle hand on your shoulder, his grip firm yet tender. “I’m so sorry, baby. I wish it were different, but it’s true-“ he said, his voice breaking.
suddenly, you felt a tightness in your chest, your breathing becoming rapid and shallow.
panic surged through you, and you felt as if the walls were closing in. “I can’t breathe.” you gasped, clutching at your chest, you looked at your mom panicked. “mom i- i can’t breathe.”
your mom immediately moved to your side, grabbing your forearm. “y/n, try to breathe with me.” she said, her voice calm but urgent. “Inhale slowly through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. just focus on my voice.”
your dad knelt beside you, his eyes filled with concern. “we’re right here with you. you’re safe. just keep breathing.” he encouraged, his hand gently rubbing your back.
you tried to follow their instructions, focusing on the rhythm of your mom’s breathing. slowly, the panic began to subside, and your breathing started to even out.
you leaned into your mom’s embrace, feeling the warmth and comfort of her presence.
as the tightness in your chest eased, a new wave of emotion crashed over you. the reality of jeff’s death hit you with full force. you started sobbing uncontrollably, your body shaking with each breathless cry. your mom held you tighter, her own tears mingling with yours.
“we’re going to get through this together. you’re going to get through this.” your mom whispered. “we’ll find a way to keep going, for jeff.”
as you clung to your mom, the reality of the situation slowly began to sink in. jeff was gone.
and your life would never be the same.
end of flashback.
tears stream down your face, and you struggle to continue. the grief is overwhelming, and you can barely speak. "that was the last time I saw him. the last time I felt his touch, the last time I heard his voice.” your voice breaks and your hands tremble, the weight of your words pressing down on you.
“and I know everyone is mad at him. they think he was stupid, that he did this to himself. but I can’t-” you shake your head, your eyes filled with tears that refuse to stop flowing. “I can’t let everyone think that- in the time that I was able to know jeff, he never once drove under the influence, no matter the situation. he was always responsible, always careful. and if you knew him, you’d know that-“
you let out a soft sob, your heart aching with the weight of loss.
your voice breaks again as you try to continue, and sobs overcome you, shaking your entire body as you try desperately to stop them.
but you can’t stop them; they just keep coming, wave after relentless wave. you cover your mouth, looking up at clay, who is sitting in the front row.
your gaze falls on clay, your eyes silently plead for help. he meets your gaze, and in that moment, he understands completely. with a nod, he slowly stands up and walks to the stand, gently taking the paper from your trembling hands.
you let out a soft sob, your heart aching with the loss that feels too great to bear. clay’s voice is steady, but you can see the pain in his eyes as he continues. "jeff was a light in all of our lives. his kindness, his humor, his support – these are just few of the many things that jeff was that i will try to carry with me."
clay's voice falters for a moment, but he presses on. "It was an honor to be loved by him, and an even bigger honor that he allowed me to love him. jeff showed me what true love is- a love that is patient, kind, and selfless. he made me a better person, and for that, I will be forever grateful."
you eyes silently plead for help. he meets your gaze, and in that moment, he understands completely. with a nod, he slowly stands up and walks to the stand, gently taking the paper from your trembling hands.
a tear falls down, making its path down clay's face as he continues, his voice trembling. "jeff's love was a gift and one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. and to him, the love of my life, I will never forget you. and I’ll be forever awaiting the day till we meet again."
as clay finishes, his eyes meet yours, and you clasp your hands together, placing them over your mouth as you look at him through a veil of tears.
the room seems to blur around you, the only clear thing being the connection between you and clay, a shared understanding of the loss you both feel.
clay opens his arms, a gesture filled with compassion and solace, and you find yourself gradually moving towards him. each step feels heavy, as if the weight of your grief is trying to hold you back, but the need for comfort propels you forward.
distance between you closes slowly, your heart pounding in your chest, and when you finally reach him, you collapse into his embrace.
and after a moment, he gently guides you outside, both of you desperately needing a breath of fresh air. the warm air hits your face as you walk together in silence. “you know, you helped jeff a lot.” you started inhaling, “he had lots of friends sure but the only one who truly had his best interest at heart.. was you.”
“im sure jeff didn’t consider me a friend.” clay deflected looking at the ground as you walked.
you touched his shoulder gently as you stopped making him stop as well. “clay. jeff considered you his closest friend.” you told him. clay looked at you his gaze unrecognizable but then you saw the tears slowly build as he nodded and looked at the ground.
you look around almost finding it ironic how you guys ended up at the baseball field, where you had been countless times before with jeff. your eyes fell on the dugout. “give me one second I need to do something.” you told clay, he said a quick okay before you jogged lightly over to it.
as you approach the entrance of the dugout, your eyes are frantically searching.
flashback.
jeff had his hands covering your eyes, leadimg you forward gently.
it was your 3 month anniversary, you had told him nothing big needed to happen but jeff insisted to at least take you out. "where are we going?" you asked, it had felt you two had been walking forever.
“no you will.” he assured giggling softly.
"I doubt it.” you said jokingly. after a few more steps, he finally uncovered your eyes. you blinked, adjusting to the dim light, and found yourself staring at the baseball field, the grass slightly damp and the air filled with a faint earthy scent.
"wait, why are we here?" you asked now curious, despite the initial confusion.
jeff just grinned, his eyes sparkling. he gently pulled you towards the fence. "you'll see.” he whispered, his voice filled with excitement.
he helped you the fence first, his hands firm and reassuring, then climbed over himself with ease.
he led you straight to the dugout, your footsteps barely making a sound on the soft grass. the field was eerily quiet, the only sound being the distant hum of crickets.
once you reached the dugout, you looked around, puzzled. "what are we doing, jeff?" you laughed, the confusion evident in your voice. jeff pulled out a small pocket knife, the metal glinting faintly in the dim light. "I know you said you didn’t want to do much, but I just wanted to leave something behind.” he said, his eyes mischievous and full of intent.
carefully, you watched as he began to carve your initials into the wooden post, the sound of the blade scraping the wood the only thing heard between you two. “I know you said you didn’t want to do anything crazy. but I still wanted to do something that would be here forever.”
“jeff, you’re crazy.” you said softly, your voice tinged with both amusement and disbelief.
you glanced around the quiet field, your eyes scanning the shadows and hoping that nobody was around, and that the two of you wouldn’t get in trouble.
when he finally finished carving, you both took a step back to admire his handiwork:
j + y/i
etched into the wooden post with careful precision. a seemingly perfect heart drawn around it.
jeff turned to you with a satisfied grin stretching across his face. "there, now we’ve left our mark.” he said, his voice brimming with a hint of mischief.
you smiled back at him, feeling a whirlwind of emotions. "I guess we have.” you replied, your voice barely above a whisper, as if speaking too loudly might ruin the moment.
as you both started walking back, jeff playfully nudged your shoulder. "bet you can't catch me!" he shouted, taking off in a light sprint.
laughing, you begun to chase after him, "oh, you're on!" you called out, picking up speed. The cool air filled with your laughter, and the thrill of the chase made your heart race.
jeff slowed down just enough for you to catch up, and as you reached him, you playfully tackled him to the ground. both of you tumbled into the grass, breathless and giggling. "I got you." you declared softly.
he grinned, lying on his back and looking up at the stars. "okay, okay, you win this time y/l/n.” he admitted, still laughing. you both lay there for a moment, catching your breath and enjoying the peacefulness.
you smile catching your breath beside him, feeling the cool grass beneath you.
he turned his head to look at you, his eyes soft and full of something you couldn't quite place. "what?" you asked, suddenly self-conscious. "Is there something on my face?"
Instead of answering, jeff leaned in closer, his gaze never leaving yours. before you could react, his lips met yours in a sweet, gentle kiss. the world seemed to stand still for a moment, the only sound being the soft rustle of leaves around you.
as the kiss ended, you both lingered close, your foreheads almost touching. jeff's eyes searched yours, a tender smile playing on his lips. the moonlight cast a soft glow, making the moment feel almost magical.
you reached up and gently brushed a strand of hair from his face, your fingers grazing his cheek. "I didn't expect that.” you whispered, still feeling the warmth of his kiss.
jeff chuckled softly, his eyes never leaving yours. "I didn't either, but it felt right." he replied, his voice filled with sincerity.
for a while, you both just lay there, admiring each other. the world around you seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of you in this perfect moment.
eventually, you helped each other up and continued your walk, occasionally bumping into each other and joking around.
end of flashback.
the sight of those initials brings a fresh wave of tears to your eyes, and you start crying again, the sobs coming from deep within you.
yet, there's something about seeing the carved letters that brings a you a sense of solace.
no matter how much time had passed, no matter how you felt, there'd always be a reminder that what you and jeff shared was real. jeff was real. your love was real.
you run your fingers over the carving, feeling the rough edges of the letters. just then, clay comes over, it’s quiet between the both of you for a moment.
you sniffle wiping your tears, as you inhaled shakily, you look at him and can tell the concern in his eyes. "are you okay?" he asks softly.
you look at the initials one last time and then back at him. "I will be.” you reply, your voice trembling slightly.
clay gives you a tight-lipped smile, understanding in his eyes. without another word, he takes your hand, and the two of you walk back together.
as you walk, you start thinking about how you'll learn to be okay. the pain is still there, and you know it’ll be there for a good while but you know that with time, you'll find a way to live with it.
you'll learn to carry the memories and the love you shared with jeff, finding strength in the fact that those moments will never be forgotten.
ooooo or maybe a oneshot about r adopting a pet behind dom’s back and at first he doesn’t like it but slowly starts loving it? 😭😭
otto.

summary: you've always wanted a dog, but your boyfriend doesn't due to your busy schedules. a girls' day off leads to adopting an adorable black and white puppy.
A/N: I’m backkkkkk. also I feel this is so unnecessarily long but hope you enjoy!!
you and liv were sitting at a coffee shop in san diego, enjoying the day off you both had.
being a wwe superstar required a non-stop road schedule, with just two days of home time before travelling to the next city for monday night raw.
even then, you weren't sure if you'd make it home every week due to the ongoing live events every week. so, whenever you did have days off, you tried to enjoy them to their fullest.
the two of you had just gotten your drinks, and up until this point, the conversation had been focused on catching up on how work had been. even though you worked together, you rarely saw her due to your different schedules. gradually, the conversation shifted to your home lives and how you had been spending your off days.
“oh my god, wait.” liv chuckled, pulling out her phone and scrolling through it. “the other day I was working out, and kilo would not leave my side at all!” she exclaimed, turning her phone to show you a video.
you watched the video, laughing heartily as kilo, her dog, tried to mimic her workout moves, hopping around and occasionally getting in the way. the video also showed a moment where kilo licked her face.
liv laughed, trying to move away from him, but her attempts were in vain as she eventually gave in, hugging him tightly and showering him with kisses and hugs.
“that’s actually so adorable!” you remarked, still chuckling at the heartwarming video.
she smiled warmly, her eyes meeting yours for a moment before she looked back down at her phone, her fingers deftly scrolling through the screen. “I know! he’s such a sweetheart,” she exclaimed her eyes showing genuine affection.
she then turned her phone towards you again, this time displaying a heartwarming picture of them cuddled up on the couch, kilo nestled comfortably against her, both looking completely content and at peace.
“awww!” you exclaimed, your face lighting up with genuine delight. liv had a warm smile, before turning off her phone and placing it gently on the table. “I’ve always wanted a dog,” you admitted, before you took a sip of your coffee.
the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the soft murmur of conversations around you. liv leaned in slightly, her expression thoughtful.
she quirked an eyebrow as she also took a sip of her drink, “why don’t you get one?”
you sigh gently tracing the rim of your coffee cup with your index finger. “dom’s not really into the whole idea.”
she took a moment to pause, setting her cup down carefully on the table, her gaze flickering towards you once more. “really?” she asked, “he seems like a dog dad 100%”
you laugh softly, settling back into your chair with a sigh. “he just thinks that since we’re both constantly on the road and barely home, it would be too much to ask either his mom or my parents to take on the responsibility of watching it,” you explain, your shoulders lifting in a shrug of understanding.
yet, a part of you can’t help but wish he’d just give it a try.
liv nodded thoughtfully, genuinely listening to your words, “I can understand where he’s coming from,” she began, her voice gentle and reassuring. “but at the same time, I know that even with our schedules, having a dog could be a good thing.”
“a part of me understands him; we’re just so busy,” you say, pausing for a second to gather your thoughts. “but I feel like a fur baby would be so good for us.”
liv juts out her lip softly looking at you with a ‘awe’ face. "I totally get that," she says, her eyes meeting yours with a knowing look. "maybe the conversation is worth revisiting with dom.” liv shrugs taking another sip of her coffee and glances at the clock on the wall.
"ou come,” she said, “I wanted to stop by this little pet store I saw just down the street while I was driving here."
you both stand up, gathering your things. "okay, let’s go then."
the two of you walk out of the coffee shop together, continuing down the sidewalk and admiring the charming little shops set up along the street. “this street is so adorable, I can’t believe I’ve never been here before,” you tell her, a soft smile spreading across your face as you take in the surroundings.
you both slowly come to a stop, right in front of a small pet shop/adoption center. “I know, right?” she said, opening the door and causing the little bell to jingle. you followed after her.
“I’ll be right back.” liv said giving you a soft smile before she heads straight for the aisles, searching for the items she needs.
you take a moment to look around, noticing how the shop is much bigger than you expected. the air is filled with a mix of scents—
pet food, and a hint of something sweet, like treats baking in an oven.
the store is well-organized, with bright, colorful displays showcasing various pet supplies. there are shelves lined with toys, beds, and grooming tools, and aisles dedicated to different types of food and treats.
the walls were adorned with pictures of all the pets that had been adopted and their owners.
you look around the store, looking at all the cute little animals they had scattered around, you wander over to the adoption area.
the soft meows and barks immediately catch your attention. as you walk down the aisle you see a variety of dogs.
you stop in front of a kennel and notice a tag that reads "otto." he's an australian shepherd and border collie mix. as you kneel down to get a closer look, you can't help but feel a tug at your heart.
you smile at him as you hook your finger through the fence. otto immediately starts licking it.
"you're such a cute boy," you say, your heart melting a little more with each lick. a worker comes up from behind you.
“believe it or not, but otto’s been here longer than most of our other pets have.”
your smile falls slightly as you look up at the owner, still petting him through the cage. “really?”
the worker nods sympathetically. "yeah, he's a bit of a special case. he's incredibly sweet and so well behaved, but people just seem to overlook him."
you look back down at the dog who was still licking your fingers. “that’s so sad.”
you continue to gently stroke otto's fur, feeling a pang of sadness. "I can't believe no one has taken him home yet. he's perfect." the dog looks up with you with big, hopeful eyes.
the worker smiles warmly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "he is. we're really hoping someone will see what we see in him soon. he's such a special dog."
liv finds you in the adoption section, her arms filled with an assortment of pet supplies. "hey, I got what I came for," she says, giving you the heads-up that you guys could leave if you wanted to. her gaze falls on the black and white dog you're petting. "oh, who's this handsome guy?" she kneels down next to you, carefully placing her things on the floor before reaching through the fence to pet him as well.
"this is otto," you say, your voice filled with affection as you watch liv interact with him. "he's been here longer than most of the other pets. It's really surprising because he's seems like such a good boy."
liv's eyes soften as she continues to pet otto, her fingers gently scratching behind his ears. "aw, that's heartbreaking. I can't believe no one has taken him home yet, I mean he’s gorgeous.”
you inhaled deeply, closing your eyes for a brief second. liv looked at you, her gaze knowing and filled with understanding. after a moment you let out a soft whine. "I can't leave him here, liv," you admitted, opening your eyes and looking at her, your eyebrows furrowing and your eyes softening.
liv gave you a reassuring smile, her hand still gently petting otto. "I knew it," she said softly. "I could see it the moment you started talking about him."
you took another deep breath, feeling the weight of the decision. "I know dom said no pets, but otto, he just... he deserves a home, you know? and I don’t think I can leave him to spend another night here."
liv nodded, her smile growing. "me being an animal lover I say you should do it, but-“ she paused smirking. “if anybody asks I wasn’t with you.” the both of you burst into laughter.
you gave otto one last pet before standing up, sighing and looking at the worker. "I want to adopt him."
the worker’s eyes lit up with a mix of surprise and joy. "oh my! that's wonderful! I’ll get you started on the paperwork."
you gave otto one last look before you followed the worker to the front desk, liv gathered her things and joined you, her excitement evident. "I think you’re doing the right thing."
you nodded, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. "I hope so. I just want him to have a good home."
the worker handed you a stack of forms to fill out, and you began writing down your information, your mind racing with thoughts of how otto would fit into your life. you could already picture coming home to him after a long week.
you could only hope dom wouldn’t be to upset with you. liv leaned over, glancing at the forms. "how you holding up?”
you took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the decision you had just made. "I just hope dom won’t be too mad," you said, glancing at liv. "I mean, I adopted a dog behind his back when he’s made clear we’re too busy for one."
liv gave you a sympathetic look, her hand still gently petting otto. "I get it, but sometimes you just have to follow your heart," she said softly. "I think he’ll come around."
you nodded, trying to find comfort in her words. "I hope so, I think we can make it work."
liv nodded, “you definitely can,” before gasping suddenly. you looked towards her, confused. “can I please go pick out some toys, treats, and a cute comfy bed?”
you chuckled, shaking your head. “go ahead, I’m just gonna finish up the paperwork.” she squealed before leaving your side and disappearing into one of the aisles.
not long after liv left, you finished the paperwork. the worker handed you otto’s adoption certificate and a small bag of starter supplies. "thank you for giving otto a home. we can tell he’s going to be so happy with you. I’ll go get him.”
you nodded gratefully, smiling as you gazed over the adoption certificate. as the worker walked away, you glanced around the store, your mind racing with thoughts of how dom would react.
liv returned, her arms loaded with toys, treats, and a plush bed that looked perfect for otto. “look at all this stuff! he’s going to be so spoiled,” you said, grinning from ear to ear.
she smiled warmly, her eyes twinkling with joy. “yes, he is! and it’s all on his auntie liv.” liv carefully placed the items in the cart with a flourish, then turned to you with a reassuring pat on the back.
you shook your head, a mixture of gratitude and protest in your voice. “no, liv, I can pay—”
“ah ah—” she interjected, cutting you off mid-sentence. “take it as a welcome home gift for my godson.” her tone was playful but firm, leaving no room for argument.
you rolled your eyes, a smirk forming on your lips. “your godson, huh?” you asked teasingly, raising an eyebrow at her.
liv shrugged nonchalantly, but her smile grew even wider. “of course! someone has to spoil him rotten, and who better than me?” she winked at you, making it clear that she was thrilled to be part of this new chapter in your life.
you couldn’t help but laugh, feeling a wave of affection for your friend. “alright, alright. thank you, auntie liv. otto’s going to be one lucky pup with you around.”
the worker returned with otto, who wagged his tail excitedly as he saw you. he jumped up and down, and you couldn't help but smile widely as you bent down to pet him. "ready to go home, boy?" you asked, your voice filled with warmth and affection. otto barked in response.
meanwhile, liv took care of paying for all the items you had picked out for otto. With everything settled, you both walked out of the store, otto trotting happily beside you, his leash held loosely in your hand.
as you reached the parking lot, you and liv shared a quick hug and said your goodbyes, each heading to your cars.
you opened the backseat door and gently helped otto climb in, making sure he was comfortable. once he was settled, you closed the door and walked around to the front, sliding into the driver's seat.
after adjusting your seatbelt, you started the car and turned to look back at otto. "ready to go home?" you asked with a smile. otto responded by leaning forward and licking your face, making you laugh out loud. you turned back to the road and began the drive home.
—
you walk into yours and dom’s shared apartment, making your way to the spare room down the hall.
you set otto’s things up meticulously: his toys arranged neatly, his cozy bed in the corner, his crate positioned just right, and his food and water bowls filled and ready. once you're done, you sit down in the middle of the room, watching as otto sniffs around curiously before finally settling on your lap.
you pull out your phone, your heart racing with a mix of excitement and nervousness, and dial your mom's number.
"hey, mom!" you say enthusiastically, a wide smile spreading across your face as you see her appear on the screen.
"hey, honey! everything alright?" she asks gently, her voice full of warmth and concern.
"well, I kind of did something," you admit, turning the camera to show otto lounging comfortably on your lap.
her eyes light up immediately. "oh my goodness, he's adorable! what’s his name?" she asks, her excitement mirroring your own.
"his name is otto," you reply, smiling. “he’s an australian shepherd mixed with a border collie, and he’s the sweetest boy ever.” you purse your lips and place a soft kiss on the top of his head, then look back at your mom.
“I thought you and dom weren’t going to get a dog?” she says, her smile still on her face, clearly happy for you.
you wince slightly at the reminder. “we weren’t, but I was out at breakfast with liv, and she needed to pick up some stuff for her pets. It happened to be at an adoption center, and I just fell in love with him,” you explain, waiting for her to scold you.
to your surprise, your mom laughs warmly, the sound filling you with a sense of relief. “well, sometimes the best things happen unexpectedly. he’s a beautiful dog, and I can see why you couldn’t resist. when you gonna tell dom?” she asks, her eyes twinkling with curiosity and a hint of amusement.
you look down at the ground, your fingers absentmindedly playing with the soft fibers of the carpet. “well, he’s not home right now, but as soon as he is, I’m going to tell him.” you take a deep breath, suddenly remembering the other reason you called. “the big problem with having a dog is finding someone to watch him while we’re gone, and I was wondering if you could watch him while dom and I are on the road?”
"of course, I'd love to," she says warmly, her voice filled with reassurance. “I’ve always loved having animals around, and he seems like he’d be wonderful.”
just then, you hear the front door open. "dom's home, gotta go," you whisper hurriedly, hanging up the phone.
you gently stroke otto's fur before standing up, feeling the soft warmth of his coat under your fingers. "shush, buddy," you say softly, giving him one last affectionate pat. you quietly leave the room, closing the door behind you with a soft click.
you walk down the hallway, and step into the kitchen and see dom placing some things into the fridge. “hey baby,” you say softly, moving closer to him, eager to share a warm embrace once he’s done.
dom glances over his shoulder at the sound of your voice, a smile spreading across his face. he quickly finishes putting the groceries away, then turns to face you, his arms already extending to welcome you into his embrace. "oh hey, cariño," he greets you warmly, his accent never failing to send a shiver down your spine.
you move into him and he wraps his strong arms around your waist, pulling you snugly against his chest. his hands find their place on your hips, holding you with a gentle yet firm touch.
you loop your arms around his neck, a tender smile gracing your lips. “how was your morning?” you ask.
he hums contentedly as your arms encircle his neck, feeling the warmth of your touch.
he leans in and presses a gentle kiss on your forehead, taking a moment to just appreciate being with you.
he pulls back slightly, his thumbs still gently rubbing your hips. "It was alright," he replies casually. "the usual stuff—gym, errands, nothing special." he studies your face, noticing a hint of nervousness in your eyes. "you okay, babe?"
you nod, looking up at him as you bite your lip nervously. untangling yourself from his embrace, you take a step back placing your hand on the counter for support. “I have to tell you something, and I know you’re going to be a little pissed off, but I want you to hear me out.”
at your words, his expression shifts to one of concern, his eyes narrowing slightly as he leans back against the counter. he crosses his arms over his chest, a habit he has when he's worried.
he continues to study your face carefully, recognizing that something is troubling you. he nods slowly, signaling for you to continue. "okay," he says softly, his tone neutral yet attentive. "I'm listening."
“okay, so today after breakfast, liv and I stopped by a pet store. It had this adoption center inside.” you pause, trying to gauge his reaction as you continue speaking softly. “I couldn’t resist... I adopted a dog.” you stop, waiting for his response.
dom's eyes widen in shock, clearly taken aback by your confession. his arms drop to his sides in disbelief.
he takes a moment to process your words, then shakes his head slightly as if trying to clear his thoughts. "you what?" he says finally, his voice a little sharper than usual. “you adopted a dog—without even talking to me first?”
your eyebrows furrow as you look at him, feeling the weight of his reaction. “I know. I should’ve talked to you first!” you try to explain, hoping to ease his frustration. “but I saw him, and I don’t know, I just couldn’t say no.”
he runs a hand through his hair, frustration written all over his face. he takes a deep breath, trying to remain calm.
"you 'couldn't say no'?" he repeats, his tone becoming annoyed. "babe, we live in an apartment. we have a pretty busy schedule. you can't just adopt a pet without discussing it with me first. we're supposed to make these decisions as a team, remember?"
you inhale looking down at the ground before looking at him. “I know baby. I’m sorry..”
he sighs, seeing the genuine remorse on your face. his expression softens slightly, but he's still clearly frustrated with the situation.
"I get that you love dogs," he says, his voice slightly calmer than before. "but you can't just make these kind of decisions on a whim. we need to think about this logically—our lifestyles, our schedules. we're constantly traveling and doing press, we don't have the time to take care of a dog properly."
“I know!” you counter trying to make him see your point, to at least hear you out. “I know we’re traveling a lot but my mom can watch him she’s already agreed to, and I’ve heard people at work say having a dog to come home too is a good thing.”
dom's expression softens even more, his irritation fading slightly. "your mom agreed to watch him while we're gone?" he asks, a hint of skepticism in his voice.
you nod, hoping he’ll understand
he takes another deep breath, mulling over the idea in his mind. he knows you've already adopted the dog, so there's no going back now.
"but what about when we do come home?" he asks, turning his attention back to you. he studies your face, noticing the hopefulness in your eyes. “like I said our schedule are pretty packed even at home. how are we supposed to find time to take care of a pet on top of that?"
“dom i know it sounds stressful, but it doesn’t have to be.” you assure him. “I’ll take care of him. my off days are pretty chill, and most of the times so are yours.”
dom runs a hand through his hair again, clearly conflicted. he knows you mean well, and he can see how much you love this dog already.
"babe, I get it, I really do," he says, his tone calmer than before. "but I'm just worried about how we're gonna make this work. I don’t want it to be a burden on you. you've already got a lot on your plate."
“baby I got this, please just trust me.” you ask him softly, reaching for his hand.
dom sighs, looking down at your hand in his. he can't deny that the thought of having a dog in the apartment makes him a bit happy too, even if he's still worried about the details.
he laces his fingers with yours, squeezing your hand gently. "I do trust you," he says quietly. "but we're in this together, alright? we’re gonna make this work."
your soft frown turns into a smile. “we’re in this together.” you repeat softly.
he nods, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "we are," he replies, his voice warm and reassuring.
he takes a step closer to you, his arms wrapping around your waist again, pulling you closer against him. "just promise me one thing," he says, looking down at you with a serious expression.
you look up at him confused, humming in response.
dom quirks an eyebrow, a small smirk forming on his lips. he can't help but be a little bit excited at the thought of seeing the dog you've secretly adopted.
"do I want to meet him? of course I do," he says, his tone a mix of sarcasm and amusement. "lead the way, cariño."
you pull away from him, grabbing his hand and leading him down the hallway to the spare room. you open the door to see otto laying down in the same spot you’d left him in asleep.
dom follows you into the room, his expression softening as he sees otto for the first time. he can't deny that the pup is adorable, all cozy in the spare room.
"wow," he says quietly, a hint of awe in his voice. "so this is the little guy, huh?"
he steps into the room, approaching otto slowly, not wanting to startle the sleeping dog. you do the same slowly sitting next to the sleeping puppy.
dom sits down next to you, watching as otto stirs slightly, lifting his head to look at you both. he notices that the puppy has a curious look on his face, as if assessing the new stranger in his room.
he reaches out a hand, gently scratching otto behind the ear. "he’s kind of cute," he murmurs, a small smile on his face.
you look at dom a wide smile before looking at otto. “this is your daddy otto.” you say softly placing a soft kiss on the dogs head.
dom smiles at the sight, his heart melting a little at how sweet you're being with the puppy. he stretches out a hand, gently scratching the top of otto's head. "hey there, buddy," he says quietly, his voice warm and soothing.
otto tilts his head in response, his tail thumping on the ground as he seems torecognize the affection from both of you.byou smile looking at otto before looking at how dom was with the dog.
dom's expression softens even more as he continues to play with the puppy, gently scratching behind his ears and petting his soft fur.
he can't help but grin as otto seems to respond to his touch, whining affectionately and trying to crawl into his lap. he looks over at you, joy in his eyes.
dom grins at your laugh, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I think he likes me," he says jokingly, as otto continues to crawl onto his lap, resting his head comfortably against dom's chest.
“I think he does.”
a year later.
It was yours and dom’s day off. you both had, had the most hectic week. wrestlemania was coming up and quickly.
so when you had asked him to join you at the gym he declined and told you he was just going to watch a movie.
you’d just come back from your morning workout, you could hear the tv playing softly in the background, and the apartment was dim, lit only by the gloomy light filtering in from outside. The rain had left a gentle patter against the windows.
you unlock your apartment door and step inside. “baby, I’m home,” you call out softly, not really paying attention as you kick off your shoes and place your water bottle into the fridge. when you don’t hear a response, your eyebrows furrow in mild confusion.
just as you’re about to call out again, you notice dom lying on the couch, fast asleep, with the tv quietly playing a movie in the background. you walk around the kitchen island and see dom cuddled up with otto, who was also sleeping peacefully.
a smile spreads across your face as you take out your phone and snap a quick picture. “we are too busy for dogs, my ass,” you tease softly, chuckling to yourself.
dom stirs at the sound of your voice, slowly opening his eyes as he becomes conscious of your presence. he blinks a few times, adjusting to the dim light of the apartment.
he looks up at you, a sheepish grin spreading across his face as he notices you taking a picture of him cuddling with otto. "hey, you're home," he says, his voice still rough and groggy from sleep.
dom glances down at otto, who remains cuddled up against him, eyes half-lidded and content. "yeah, yeah," he mutters, rolling his eyes playfully.
you laugh, sitting down next to dom, causing otto to slowly wake up as well. “I missed you boys.”
dom wraps an arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer against him. he chuckles softly as otto raises his head, looking at you with his big, sleepy eyes.
"we missed you too," he says, a hint of affection in his voice. he gently scratches behind otto's ear, eliciting a soft whine from the pup.
you cuddle into dom, humming in contentment as your eyes flutter closed. “nope,” you say, getting up reluctantly. “I need to shower, I’m sweaty.”
dom groans softly as you get up, clearly not ready to let go of your cuddles.
"do you have to?" he whines jokingly, pouting slightly. He looks up at you with puppy-dog eyes, trying to convince you to stay.
“we can cuddle and take a nap after I shower. I promise.”
dom sighs in mock defeat, a small pout still on his face. "fine," he relents, reluctantly pulling his arm away from you.
"but you better not take forever, or I might fall asleep without you," he teases, his eyes still sleepy and half-lidded.
“I won’t.” just then, you run to the bathroom, getting into the shower as quickly as you can.
dom watches as you hurry off to the bathroom, letting out a small chuckle, amused by your eagerness to shower and be back with him.
he stretches out on the couch, reaching for the remote to turn off the movie that's still playing on the tv. he then turns his attention to otto, who's now standing beside him, waiting for your return.
"she takes quick showers," dom says to the dog, as if trying to explain your absence. "don't worry, she'll be back soon."
you finish up, throwing on sweats and one of dom’s hoodies.
dom looks up as you re-enter the living room, his eyes wandering over your sweatpant-clad legs and the oversized hoodie you're wearing. he smirks slightly, recognizing it as one of his.
"nice outfit," he teases, a hint of admiration in his eyes.
“hush,” you tease, sitting down in your previous spot and cuddling up next to him.
dom chuckles softly as you settle back beside him, immediately draping his arm around your shoulders. he pulls you closer against his chest, enjoying the feeling of you against him.
"so clingy," he teases, a hint of affection in his voice. he gently runs his hand up and down your arm, tracing aimless patterns on your skin.
you roll your eyes, leaning into him a bit more, feeling the warmth of his body against yours. just then, otto jumps up onto your lap, his tail wagging excitedly. you can’t help but smile as he settles down, nuzzling into you.
dom laughs softly, watching. "looks like someone missed you," he says, reaching over to give otto a gentle pat on the head.
you scratch behind otto's ears, feeling the soft fur under your fingers. "yeah, he’s a little cuddle bug," you reply, your voice filled with affection.
dom's arm tightens around you both, creating a cozy little bubble of warmth and love. "our little family," he murmurs, his voice content.

dominik mysterio x fem! reader
summary: after dominik loses the north american championship you’re there to help pick up the pieces.
A/N: thank you too @rheas-ripley and some others my request are stacked!! tysm🫶🫶 so I am trying to get to all of them! but I’m in Columbia rn w no service, I only get service at the air bnb, and I’m here for a week so yea! but I am trying!
you were on the edge of your seat, watching dominik's title match. anxiously biting at your nails, your foot jittering up and down anxiously.
your gaze was locked on the monitor as dragon lee executed his finisher, you flinched at the hard impact. your hands instinctively moved to cover your mouth.
and as the ref began to count, time felt like it was dragging, each second stretched out. it was like it was all in slow motion.
1!
you were hoping for dom to escape the pim, understanding that holding the championship meant the world to him. that this was his chance to show he's not just some character they fans boo at.
he wanted to silence the everyone, to prove he's earned his spot, and to show just how far he's come since turning on his dad.
2!
you clasped both your hands in front of your lips. muttering a quick prayer under your breath, "come on, dom, kick out," urging him on silently.
3!
ding! ding! ding!
your jaw dropped, watching as dragon lee celebrated. rushing over to embrace dominik's dad, rey mysterio, who was seated at ringside.
you felt a bitter taste creeping up inside you.
your mind racing, you watched the crowd cheer for dragon lee. all praising him. the camera panned to dominik, rolling out disappointed but scowling at lee and the fans.
you stood backstage waiting for him in the gorilla. dominik pushed past the curtain moments later, looking exhausted. a few of the crew gave him words of encouragement, he acknowledged them before moving to you. he gave you a small kiss on the cheek
he wiped his face with a towel, breathing heavily. his body was drenched in sweat from the intense match.
when he saw you, his expression softened. but you could tell he was upset. "I'm gonna go shower." he muttered into your ear before giving you another quick kiss and walking away.
you knew that dominik was putting on a brave face, he wanted to show everyone that he wasn't going to let losing the championship affect him. but you could tell that he was frustrated and upset.
your eyes followed dominik as he went towards the showers, and you felt your heart break at just how upset he looked. he was putting on a brave face for everyone else.
even though dominik was young, he constantly strived to meet the expectations placed on him. the expectations that came with being a wwe legends son. he didn't want to look weak in front of everyone.
but at the end of the day when you’d both leave and go home, you knew the truth. you knew how much the loss affected him. how much it hurt to lose the championship that meant so much to him.
and you hated that he was acting like he wasn't affected by it. that he couldn't even let his feelings out to the one person he trusted the most.
you sighed running your hand through your hair frustrated.
——-
you were talking with roxanne when your phone buzzed in your pocket. you excused yourself as you checked it seeing a message from dom.
you checked your phone, seeing you had a text from dom. "I'm ready to go back to the hotel, I have your stuff just meet me in the parking lot when your done."
you sent him a quick text back, letting him know that you'd be there soon.
and finally, you told roxanne that you had to head out. she didn't ask too many questions, just giving you a quick smile before nodding.
you began the walk to the parking lot. you checked your phone again as you walked, seeing that dom had replied, letting you know he'd be waiting at his car.
once you reached the parking lot, you began looking for where you two had parked the car earlier. as soon as you spotted it, you began to walk towards it.
you quickly approached dom's car, seeing him leaning against it. his arms folded, and his gaze directed at the floor. he looked pretty exhausted, and you felt a small pang of empathy for him.
you couldn't help but frown as you got closer, wanting to help him feel better in any way you could.
"hey..." you said softly.
dom's head snapped up, turning to look at you. he was silent for a moment, before finally speaking. "hey.”
he tried to put on a smile, but it was clear from the look in his eyes that he was still upset. "you ready to go?"
"yea i am." you said, he opened the passenger door for you before passing over to the drivers side
as you settled yourself in the passenger seat, he quickly got in the driver's side and started the car. for a few moments, neither of you spoke. he was clearly lost in his own thoughts.
you were also quiet, just watching him driving. finally, you decided to break the silence. "are you okay”
"yeah, I'm fine.” he muttered, his voice coming out quiet and hoarse. he didn't seem convinced when he said it. he kept his eyes on the road, his gaze straight ahead.
there was a heavy silence in the car, as if all air had been sucked out of the car. you tried to think of something to say, to break the heavy tension. but your mind was completely blank.
dom was still staring straight ahead, not seeming to want to look at you at all. it was clear that he was trying to hold back his feelings.
he pulled up outside of the hotel, turning off the engine and unbuckling his seatbelt. he looked over at you, finally looking at you once again. his expression was still stoic, but there was a hint of sadness in his eyes.
he climbed out of the car, walking over to your side and opening the door for you.
you got out the car, waiting for him as he grabbed both of your bags out the trunk. you both went over to the hotel entrance, and he opened the door for you once more before following after.
once inside, the lobby was mostly empty besides a few hotel workers busy behind the front desk. however, you could faintly hear music and laughter coming from one of the rooms.
dom led you over to the elevator, pressing the button before leaning against the wall. he looked he looked exhausted, keeping silent.
he let out a long breath, his eyes still directed at the floor. he seemed like he was completely lost in his own thoughts and didn't want to speak about it.
as the elevator doors doors opened to reveal the hallway of your floor, you both made your way down to your room. he fished out his keycard from his wallet to unlock the door. you both walked in grabbing your bag he'd left by the door.
the room was quiet and clean, much like a hotel room should be. dom closed the door behind him, and you could hear the lock clicking loudly before the room fell silent once again.
dom sat down on the edge of the mattress, seemingly exhausted as he begun to take his shoes off.
you laid your suitcase on the bed, going to your knees to look for pijamas. you looked behind you seeing dom, your heart tightened as you stood up. you walked over to him sitting down next to him, you rested your head on his shoulder taking his hand in yours.
"babe talk to me."
he turned to look at you, his gaze still downcast. he gave you a small, tired smile, seeming almost relieved that you were there.
"i'm fine. everythings alright.” he muttered, giving your hand a quick squeeze.
you looked up at him, "but you're not fine."
he stayed silent, not moving an inch. he was clearly still trying to hide his feelings, putting on a brave face.
"i'm fine.” he repeated again, sounding slightly more convincing this time. the tension was palpable.
"dom please." you pleaded softly, you just wanted to be there for him. you just wanted him to let you be there for him.
you could see the strain of trying to stay strong slowly starting to crack. he let out a heavy sigh, his gaze going back to the floor. he stayed quiet for a moment, before finally speaking again.
"it just sucks-" he muttered, his voice coming out hoarse. not being the champion anymore seemed to be weighing on him.
"it feels like i've failed. I failed you; I failed the fans; I failed everybody." he muttered, a mixture of exhaustion and sadness in his voice.
"oh, baby, you didn't fail me; you did the best you could."
"and the best i could do wasn't enough." he replied, still keeping his gaze cast to the ground. he was clearly frustrated and upset, disappointed with himself.
his free hand moved restlessly, and you saw that he was tightly kneading the fabric of his pants.
you begin to trace patterns on his hand, looking down at your intertwined hand. "dom listen to me, you gave it everything. I'm proud of how hard you fought. this isn't the end. you'll get through this-we'll get through this. together."
he stayed silent for a moment, his gaze going up to meet yours. his expression softened, and you could tell he was trying his best to believe your words.
he swallowed, and his hands relaxed a little bit, though you still saw some tension there. "I don't know, y/n/n, I just- I just feel so defeated right now.”
your eyebrows furrowed, your heart hurt seeing him hurt. you gently turned his head so he'd look at you. "dom." you said softly, searching in his eyes, you wanted to say something instead you just wrapped your arms around his neck. pulling him into a hug.
he leaned into the hug, finally burying his face in your shoulder and letting out a heavy breath. he held on to you tightly.
he was lost in his own thoughts, the weight of having failed again weighing him down. it was clear that, although he was trying to stay strong and move on, he needed some comfort right now.
"I don't know any way to convince you that you deserve everything you've gotten and so much more." you mumbled into his shoulder, "dom you're gonna get so much more title opportunities, I just know you will."
he stayed silent for a moment, his head staying buried into your shoulder as he took in your words. he was still trying to process the loss, trying to convince himself he would have other chances.
finally, he spoke. “I'm just scared. that this is the start of the end, y'know?"
"this isn't." you reassured, "you’re so young, and your career is just starting. you have so much more to do."
he stayed silent again, but you could see him slowly believing what you were saying. he was still disappointed with having failed to keep the championship, but he was coming around to the thought that he would have more opportunities.
he looked up at you, and his expression softened a bit. "I appreciate you being here for me, amor..." he said quietly.
"you dont have to thank me, ill always be there for you."
he smiled softly, giving you a quick kiss on the cheek. "I know you will... and I love you." he said quietly, his hand moving to hold yours.
“I love you too," you told him. his fingers laced with yours, his gaze now fully on you.
he smiled softly, and for the first time since his match, he looked genuinely happy. as if all the worries had momentarily washed away, and he was now in the present with you.
your eyes moved to the stray hair that had fallen on his forehead, you moved it away gently. “you ready for bed?” you asked your gaze going back onto his eyes.
he gave a small chuckle, and looked back at the bed. he nodded, seeming relieved that the mood had shifted. "yeah.” he said, letting go of your hand. “I'm beat."
you stood up tying your hair up. “same, but I’m gonna go shower first.”
he gave you a small wink, moving over to you, letting his hand trail down your side. he leaned down, whispering into your ear. “I know a way to save water.”
you rolled your eyes, “no dom.” you said playfully.
he chuckled, a slight grin spread across his face. "pleaseeeee?" he whined, making it sound like a child asking for candy. he tried to give you his best puppy dog face, his eyes looking at you hopefully, the two of you making eye contact.
after a moment you caved, “fine.” you said, “hurry up.” you laughed out running away from him into the bathroom.
he let out a small laugh at your reluctant agreement, chasing you into the bathroom.
