We were each others firsts of everything. We’ve known each other for over 7 years and been best friends for a few years. Now we live together; we have a home we have made ours. We’re each others ‘rock’. We help each other and look after each other. We’re attracted to each other. We occasionally sleep together, but only spontaneously. We respect each others space and I understand when he wants his alone time playing video games. We fulfill each others needs. Even despite the fact that I may not be able to have kids, my maternal needs are met by the two kids he already has. The problem is that he is afraid of commitment due to several painful past relationships. He told me not to get attached because he doesn’t want to hurt me or to potentially go through that same pain again. A year ago we were hanging out every night and we used to joke that we would end up married one day, and now we’re living together. I’m just waiting for him to tell me he loves me.
