CHAPTER 2

Valt’s mind fully halted at the revelation that Free and Lui might be more than rivals, that thought alone made Valt freeze like a statue standing next to Free. ‘He didn’t let go even when…’ Valt thought while face was completely and utterly frozen in stunned silence
“Valt?, are you ok?” Free asked Valt, but Valt stayed absolutely silent. Free turned to look at Valt, his eyes squinting slightly to see what Valt’s reaction was. “Valt?” Free asked again, yet still Valt didn’t make a sound or movement. Free reached and poked Valt’s side that was when Valt finally moved. However Valt jolted forward hitting the bed side. Then his entire body was about to fall on Lui but Free grabbed Valt white t-shirt.
Free and Valt stayed perfectly still as Valt was hovering slightly above Lui. A minute passed and Free slowly pulled Valt up. The two still didn’t make a sound, they both held their breath as Lui stirred lightly then settled back to sleep.
Free soon after lightly slap Valt on the right shoulder. “Don’t do that” Free muttered, his voice was quieter so that Lui didn’t hear them. Valt smiled awkwardly “Sorry I just panicked…” he said as he scratched the back of his neck.
After a moment Valt looked at Lui again. Then at their hands his eyes lingered for a second then back to Free’s face. Free looked at Valt from the side, “Please don’t tell anyone about…this…” Free stated. Valt paused, then a soft smile touched his lips.“Yeah…I would tell them…” Valt assured Free, Free stared, after a heartbeat Free smiled at Valt’s answer. Valt soon after grabbed a chair and sat down while starting to talk to Free to pass a little time.
After a while Valt left, the soft click of the door made the room go back to the dim light it had. Free was alone again, the silence in the room felt suffocatingly quiet now. A sudden light grip of cold sender fingers pulled Free out of his thoughts, he looked at Lui. Lui was still deeply asleep, his chest falling steadily as he breathed.
Free stared at Lui for a while, later he laid his head on the bed. He didn’t look away from Lui, His eyes stayed fixed on the calm face of the fierce Lui Shirosage. ‘You are a puzzle that I can’t solve sometimes Lui…’ Free thought. After an hour Free’s eyes became heavy, his vision became a haze then he too fell asleep.

In the morning the shine of the sun filtered through toward the windows of Free’s room while Lui laid on the bed. Lui stride slightly as he shifted his right hand. Lui woke up slowly to the smell of a forest,pine trees, and a tuft of blonde hair in his face that morning. ‘What the?’ Lui asked himself.
When Lui was about to pull his hand away, a small groan of protest stopped him. “What…Free?” Lui asked, the blond that was lying his head on the side of the bed. Lui sat up sluggishly from the bed and looked at Free’s head. “Did…you…bring me here? And where are we?” Lui asked, looking around the room in confusion in his amethyst eyes, then he looked back at Free.
Free slowly sat up straight rubbing his eyes lightly. After a while his eyes finally were focused. Obsidian eyes meet amethyst, Free didn’t answer right away he just looked at Lui for a few minutes soon after he finally answered. “You collapsed out of nowhere and I brought you here in my room” he replied, voice still sounding tired, Lui looked at the blond, ‘collapsed…’ Lui thought then he looked down to the sheets then back to Free.
Silence stretched, between them. Free stayed silent to let Lui process the information, Lui closed eyes then breathed in heavily, then signed. “I collapsed…” Lui said calmly, but the slightest hint of annoyance was in his tone. Free nodded “Yes you collapse…” Free stated more hesitantly, ‘Is he ok?’ Free thought while he observed Lui’s rigid shoulders.
Lui inhaled sharply toward his nose, “Did anybody see?” Lui asked while glaring at Free, Free didn’t answer right away, he just sat looking at Lui’s furious glare. Free wanted to tell Lui that his team didn’t see a glimpse of what happened because he was running too fast but Valt knew and saw, but something in Lui’s eyes told him to not tell him what happened yesterday.
But why?. It was just a simple answer. Why can’t Free say it?. Is it because he didn’t have the answer?. Or maybe because of the look of worry and dread on Lui’s face. Or that look that says ‘don't tell me they saw that’
Free felt his throat tight, and his mouth went dry as he thought of what to say next. “Uhm…” was the only thing that Free could say. Lui grabs the front of the shirt of the blond “Who. saw” Lui demanded now, punctuating every syllable with amethyst eyes glaring at Free. His hands tighten their hold on Free’s yellow shirt for them to go stack white.
They both stared at one another for a moment as the air between them became a bit tense. Lui’s jaw clenched, “De La Hoya who saw?” Lui asked again. Free signed and hesitantly answered.“They didn’t see you but Valt saw you” Free said, trying to calm the flame haired boy down.
Lui tightened his grip one last time on the shirt but then let it go. Lui groaned loudly, as he dragged his hands down his face, “Great! just great!” Lui exclaimed harshly, his hands now fisting in his lap. Free place a hand on Lui’s shoulder Lui glanced at Free, “It is going to be fine I can just tell them that…” Free stop mid sentence. What is he going to tell them? When they both go down there.
Silence once more fell between them. After a long agonizing moment Lui signed, pulling the blanket away from his lap as he sat at the edge of the bed then he got up and walked towards the door. “There is no point in lying to them,” Lui said flatly. Free look at Lui in utter confusion. “Where are you going?” Free asked, he got up and tried to catch up with the flame haired boy that was almost out the door. “Down stairs and then go to the hotel I booked,” Lui replied flatly, while not even looking at Free.
Before Lui could even reach for the door knob, Free blocked it with his arm. “Eat something first,” Free argued. Lui looked at the blond with annoyance “I can get food in the hotel” Lui shot back, while glaring at Free. Lui tried to push pass Free but Free didn’t back down. Free eyes darkened when Lui was trying to push past him. ‘His pride will be the death of him. I swear’ Free thought. “You didn’t eat anything yesterday,” Free said, voice low with warning as he returned to glare. “I ate…” Lui thought for a sec, then thought did he actually eat anything yesterday?
Lui paused for a long moment as he looked for a memory of him eating. But there was nothing. Free stared for a moment afterwards he sighed.
“I can take your silence as no, you didn’t eat anything yesterday” Free announced bluntly, his obsidian eyes looking at Lui, who was now staring at the floor. Another pause, the air in the room getting more softer. Free’s slight frustration fading while looking at Lui who was actively staring at the floor like it personally betrayed him.
“Come on, there should still be breakfast down stairs,” Free added gently, then tugged Lui’s wrist lightly indicating to follow him to the dinning area. Lui signed and reluctantly followed Free down to the dining area in BC Sol because he knew that Free would never let it go and Free would actually just pick him up and walk to the dining area with him on the blond shoulder . ‘I hope I won’t regret this’ Lui thought, as the noise of the chaos that was happening in the said dining area was getting closer.

The loud clatter of plates and glass wear were the sound that was emanating in the hall as Free and Lui approached the area. Lui glanced at the blond for a moment ‘Why the hell is he so invested in this?’ Lui thought.
The dining room was loud and bustling as ever. Everyone in the room was talking among themselves, talking about what they should do today or what training schedule they had. “Maybe we can go shopping,” Honey suggested. “No, we should go and explore the Zoos all over Spain!" Valt shouted, still chewing a mouth full of food as he got up from the chair.
Rantaro begged Valt to swallow first before saying anything. Silas chuckled at them from across the table. Kit was about to say something about training, However they hear the doors open. Everyone turned their gaze to the door and saw Free and.
“Lui!?” Everyone shouted in unison, except for Valt. Lui’s shoulders straightened, his face turning more and more into a scowl by the second he stood there. “I know I should just go to the hotel” Lui mumbled under his breath, Free noticed Lui getting very uncomfort with all of the people in the room staring at them.Free slowly leaded down to Lui’s ear.
“I can get you some food and we can eat it elsewhere if you want” Free whisper to Lui. Lui was a little shocked by Free at first but he didn’t show it on his face. Lui looked sideways to Free while inspecting Free’s face, looking for any sign of a smug smirk on Free’s face that indicated that this was some joke or prank his pulling, however there was nothing but a warm smile on Free’s face. Lui hesitated but nodded. Free smiled, then walked straight to Rose and asked her for two bowls of fried rice.
Lui was standing awkwardly at the doorway. Leaning on the door frame with his arms crossed. Every eye in the room was on him, usually Lui would have loved the spotlight on him, but today he just wanted to be left alone. ‘Stop staring at me, stop staring at me, stop staring at me’ Lui repeated over and over in his head.
A soft pat on Lui’s shoulder snapped him out of his thoughts, Lui looked at the person who just did that. And Lui was then staring into two obsidian eyes looking at him. Free was standing in front of him with two bowls of what looks like fried rice on a wooden tray. “Come on, I know a quiet place here,” Free replied casually, giving Lui a silly little smile while walking around Lui. Lui signed, then followed Free to who knows where this blond think elsewhere was. Lui just hoped it was on top of a tree.
“You all saw what I saw right?” Rantaro asked in utter shock, staring wide eyed at the doorway where Free and Lui were previously standing. “Yeah…that was…” Cuza said in a voice sounding very confused, then looking around as confused as his friends to confirm he was not losing his mind.
However Valt was not as shocked or confused as the other, actually he was the most calm one out of all of them. Silas look at Valt, realization hitting him. “You know, didn't you?” Silas barked, glaring at Valt with slight annoyance. Valt stops the med bite, then glances at Silas. Sweat was beating on Valt’s forehead.
“What?” Valt said dismissible, while trying not to be obvious that he knew. Everyone at the table was now staring at him for an answer. ‘Shit!’ Valt though. “Hey! Look, it’s Free and Lui!” Valt shouted, pointing a finger to the doorway again. Everyone looked where he was pointing at. They saw that the doorway was empty. “There nothing there” Cuza announced, however to everyone’s collective surprise Valt was not there anymore.
