“I’m almost out of mana.” Holding out the black flames of Remalokh, Dylan, with sweat dripping from his eyebrows, could only channel time shift, (Time Shift: A spell that can stop time in a limited space depending on the caster’s ability and mana) delaying them from instant death.

Gathering his remaining mana, Dylan managed to cast a forbidden spell from their clan. “Infinity!” he shouted. (Infinity: A forbidden spell that can make someone immortal at the expense of the caster’s life.)

“You have to live Ana.” Dylan said. Time froze as he was slowly turning into the ethereal state. With his life force gushing towards Ana’s body, their surroundings turned into shapes of numbers and ancient texts of the Tivuuk clan. Everything was being pulled in towards Ana as if her body was a vortex.

Hearing his brother for the last time, with words almost as loud as a whisper, Ana tried to understand it. Recalling it over and over again, she finally understood. “You’re the only one who can save our people from this curse. No matter what, you have to survive.” Seeing her brother mouthing the words, she understood.

Everything was being sucked out into a spherical abyss bringing her into an endless void of numbers and figures, screaming out her brother’s name. As she was about to close her eyes, Ana suddenly felt warm like something so familiar was touching her back. When she opened her eyes, she saw Dylan.

Dylan was waking her up, telling her it was just a dream. Ana stood up and hugged her brother. She hugged her parents seeing them in the living room. She rushed outside the house and saw that everything was okay.

She went back inside to tell Dylan about the surreal dream she had. Entering back in the house, everyone was gone. Running back to her room where her brother was, tears fell from her cheeks as everything was sinking into her mind.

Closing her eyes again, Ana couldn’t fathom being alone. She gave up. She tried to slit her wrists but blood won’t come out. She tried hanging herself but she wouldn’t suffocate. She tried everything to kill herself but couldn’t. She was immortal. And this was her curse.

I want to take a bite of you.

I know it’s a bad idea but I can’t stop thinking about the possibilities of me and you. I can’t even pause thinking about events that haven’t even happened yet. It drives me crazy knowing that we will never be. I knew it was going to come to this but I didn’t mind. I have too much to lose but I didn’t even think twice of taking a step back.

Spending time with you felt urgent and at the same time safe but now it’s going to be intense and awkward. We can try to pretend that we were just watching movies, eating, drinking and sleeping together as friends but things will never be the same. It’s not going to be the same laugh that you heard, not going to be the same smile that you saw, not going to be the same touch that you felt the first time we incidentally touched each others skin. Everything we do from this point will pour out deeper meaning that even a single “hello” would rock the world up.

I want to spin around until I vomit the dizziness overtaking my decisions. Just like Adam, I, too, was curious of what the fruit would taste like. However, there are things much bigger than us that curiosity can’t seduce.

All around Divisoria, we walked until our feet were too tired to keep up with the pace. Not minding what time it was, we just roamed around with the night lights of back then called “night cafe” delighting my narrow perspective with the sepia toned lighting mixture enhancing and pleasuring my eyes looking at her face.

Just had an epiphany last night. The moment when my friend stretched out his hand holding a shot glass filled with temporary happiness and eventually lashing headaches til noon, I pondered why am I doing this? Throat parched, flowing through my esophagus, the poison that I couldn't barely stomach.

After that moment, I had to get out of the place, that loud-liberality reeling me in, void, spiraling down to my chest.

I stood up, got out, called a ride, arrived, ate, and slept.
