I'm Corin! or corn. I was born in 2001 (I don't want to keep updating this on my birthday haha).

To answer your first question, I majored in animation in university, with the intent of becoming a storyboard artist. For a semester, I interned and was mentored at a studio for storyboarding. I currently freelance on-and-off as a board artist! But I don't have industry experience in illustration or comic field (but it'd be cool to).

As for style inspirations, my earliest favorite artists are Rebecca Sugar and Lauren Faust.

And off the top of my head, I admire the work of Haruko Ichikawa, Akira Toriyama, Naohiro Shintani, Ethel Hays, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Monkey Punch, Sara Kipin, Yoh Yoshinari, McKenna Harris, Tomio Ogata, Cassey Kuo, Chendi Xu—

Oh god and the list has only EXPANDED since I got into Transformers. Good lord. Faves include Amy Beth Christenson, India Swift, Jack Lawrence, Floro Dery, and Geoff Senior.

Head in hands. I could go on and on and yap about every single one my favorite artist.

i have a question, how do u get ur comic panel composition to look so nice???

when i try to make a page somehow looks too crowded and doesnt have a nice flow, and dont get me started on individual composition on every individual panel.

yours look so nice they remind me of french comics(european comics??)

Thank you so much!!! I'll try my best to explain:

I think of a single page as a whole composition. I keep in mind reading direction. In my case that's left to right, up to down. This forms S-curves. Ideally, the placement of the bubbles and the artwork in those panels sustain that S-curve composition.

Usually per page, I like to have a focal, big panel which are complimented by medium and small panels.

After scripting, I do SCUFFED sketches of page layouts. After that, I add bubbles and text. Then I do my final sketches and line art around it. Because bubbles are a prominent element in comics, I want them to be intentionally placed. Still, as I work I'll move bubbles around slightly to give room for the artwork. My goal is to make sure all elements like bubbles, panels, and drawings are readable.

In that case, I don't draw everything in a panel. Not all panels get backgrounds. Not every character is drawn with their intricacies. I think that works in my favor? It can be visually overwhelming to include every detail which risks losing clarity.

Everything after that is icing on the cake. Colors and funky panels are there to enhance, but they shouldn't detract from the flow.

i adore the coloring in them and would love to hear how you did it, idk brushes and blendmodes etc - especially the streaky sort of watercolor effect -- thank you -- sorry if this is redundant considering past asks and that one youtube tut you posted

Those pieces do use the same coloring approach from that video just with added line art on top!

Weirdly enough my favorite part of the animatic is Optimus running to megatron as he's getting shot at. There's something so satisfying in how his torso stays in place as he runs and I don't know if this was on purpose or not but it reminds me a lot on how the bots in the movie move. So pretty neat!

The whole fight scene was beautifully choreographed too. Don't know if I said this in my last ask but I really really liked Orions transformation mid flight like yasss! transformers fighting like transforming robots!! The fight had a nice weight to it
