Mon travail du dimanche My sunday job ;)

Entre mon travail payant et mon emploi à temps partiel j'ai enfin trouvé un petit moment de paix pour taper sur un bout de cuir. Between my paying work and my part-time job I finally found some time and peace to hammer around on a piece of leather.

Je refait les coutures d'une ceinture que j'ai fait il y a plus de 25ans. I'm restitching a belt I made over 25 years ago.

Looking back in time: 1989 was the year where I went to leather shows in the USA. For that event I wanted to make a picture showing that while stage coaches where roaming through the wild West it wasn’t much different on the old continent. The picture was a tracing of the famous oil painting by Rudolf Koller, “Die Gotthardpost” to be seen at the Kunsthaus in Zürich. Once back from the long travel I gave it as a present to my mother. _ _ _ 1989 fut l’année de mon compagnonnage a travers les Etats Unis en participant a quelques rencontres de “cuireux”. Pour ces événement j’avais fait un tableau d’après le peintre Suisse Rudolf Koller, oeuvre bien connue chez nous. L’idée était de montrer que comme au far ouest chez nous aussi un voyageait en diligence. En rentrant de ce long voyage j’en ai fait cadeau à ma maman.

I had to play with my new acquisitions I brought back from the leather show in Firmini, France. That Herman oak leather just called to be carved an' boy is that a fine piece of cow... such pleasure to work with. As to the tools, or as I say toys, some small trophies from Bob Beard and Barry King, the Ferrari and the Mercedes Benz of tools and some that I knitted myself. ... J'ai pas pu m'empêcher de m'amuser avec mes nouvelles acquisitions ramené de Firminy en France. Ce cuir de Herman Oak de Saint-Louis aux États-Unis est un vrai plaisir de travailler il ne demande qu'à être gravé. Quant au jouets ce sont les Ferrari de Bob Beard (noir), les Mercedes de Barry King ( inox) et mes outils tricoté main.

I brought back home a side of Herman Oak leather, can’t wait to play with it ;) J’ai ramené une demi peau de chez Herman Oak, impatient de jouer avec ;)
