1. HI! i’m c. this is a roleplay blog for K, my oc. he is fandomless but can fit easily into many existing fandoms. fandoms i am either fully or somewhat familiar with include: doctor who, good omens, sherlock (bbc), mcu, raven cycle & others.

2. BASIC MUSE INFO: k is an alien with the ability to manipulate water and to sense the strong emotions of people around him. he has no control over this, just senses them like one might feel air being blown onto them. it could be considered a low-level telepathic ability. he came to earth because he desperately wants to learn about humans and make friends, he’s just not very good at blending in. 

3. INTERACTION SUGGESTIONS: k will approach literally anyone and attempt to befriend them, so it is always safe to assume (for a starter or meme or whatever) that he has approached your muse to be friendly. k can also be found in the woods (any woods convenient for your muse), or in any body of water such as a lake or river, practicing his water abilities so long as he thinks nobody is watching (you are welcome to have your muse see him). if your muse happens to be hurt or upset in public, it is also 100% safe to assume that k will run up to them and try to help, and you are more than welcome to use this scenario for a starter.

“Oh.“ Charlie smiles as it dawns on him that he’s being offered a gift. But he looks down at the rocks shown to him. Normal formation of minerals from this planet smoothed out by the erosion of wind and water; rocks shaped by the passage of time.

"No,” he answers in a flat tone, no room for doubt. “Thank you.” It was a good thought, to hold memories. But Charlie didn’t need more reminders of the past.

“I haven’t travelled much.” He hadn’t been allowed much outside the palace. Except for now. But he hasn’t been outside of Shoreditch much either, definitely not outside of London.

“Except for my move here from Sheffield, of course.” He raises his chin, still uncomfortable with lies as his small shy smile at the end shows. Hopefully this stranger won’t see through it.

“Where is Sheffield?” 

Should a human know that? Probably, K thinks, but trying to pretend he knows of a place he’s never even heard of wouldn’t be a good idea. He’s been caught up in those kind of lies before. It never ends well. 

Humans all talk differently. K knows that, even though he hasn’t been here too long. Some of them sound... calculated. He doesn’t think that’s the right word, but they speak carefully, they pronounce things with precision. Others don’t, they miss parts of words out as they speak, or pronounce vowel sounds differently. 

K is still learning the different ways humans speak. He’s not certain of his new friend’s accent. It doesn’t sound like many of the other people he’s met. Perhaps a rarer accent? K isn’t sure. He could ask, but he worries that might be considered rude. Human conversation etiquette is difficult to learn and even harder to put into practice. 

Ava stared into her cup of dark tea. No milk, one sugar. A seat at a table outside the cafe, just the gentle sounds of passing traffic, light conversation, and the occasional bird overhead. She’d already sacrificed the crust of her bread to the nibbling beaks until she had nothing left. Then they, too, were gone. Her hands cradled the warmth, desperate for some of it to put things right. But nothing within or without the simple cup could do anything to help her. She was stuck like this, and no one seemed to give a damn. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone stopped by her table. She buried the scowl she wore as a second skin; she was trying to blend in here, not start another fight with an unsuspecting civilian. “I’m… I’m sorry?” She blinked twice, having never been asked that before. “You can feel my… what?”

“Your sadness.” 

The person doesn’t seem too angry with him for his words, so K allows only a moment’s hesitation before slipping into the seat opposite. She can tell him to go away, if she likes, and he will, but there’s a chance he might be able to help here. How could he not take it?

“I’m sorry,” he begins softly. “It was radiating from you. I feel things. Can I help? I thought you might want to talk. People who radiate like that, sometimes they want to talk. To let some of it out.”

He can never be certain. Sometimes people shout at him to go away. That’s completely understandable and he does go away, though never before reassuring them that he meant no offence and that if they change their minds, they can find him. Sometimes, they start to cry. He thinks perhaps that’s about the acknowledgement -- that finally, someone realises how hard they’ve been trying to hold themselves together. Sometimes they deny feeling the way he knows they feel. That’s rather silly, K thinks, because he’s just told them he can feel what they feel, so lying won’t achieve anything. That’s alright, too, though. All it does is tell him he needs to tread softly if he wants to help. 

“I’m fine, yeah?” Ram snaps back too quickly. But he’s not told any of this to his closest friends, it’s not like he’ll tell a stranger. Or well, he hasn’t told most friends. There’s the others, those who know.

“Do I have a weirdo magnet on me?” he mutters, sitting back on the bench. He used to be the coolest guy and now he keeps being shoved in with the geeks, like Matteusz, Charlie, Tanya.   April…

( April who had kissed him. April whom he can’t stop thinking about. How did he ever fall for the teachers’ pet? Because she was caring and strong and when she held his hand, he didn’t feel so alone. )

He shouldn’t let his brain go there when there’s still this guy who claims can feel emotions right here, looking at Ram with big doe eyes.

“What’s your name anyway? I’ve never seen you here before.”

K thinks perhaps this person doesn’t like him very much. Weirdo magnet? Does he thinks K is a weirdo? That’s okay. K is a weirdo, probably, by human standards, so it’s alright if he thinks he’s a weirdo.

The ‘I’m fine’ came far too quickly to be the truth. Even if K couldn’t feel the emotion being denied, it would still be quite clear that ‘I’m fine’ isn’t true. Why is he lying? What’s the point? Hasn’t K just told him he can feel the sadness? K tilts his head, eyes focused on the stranger’s face first, then his body language, before returning to his face. 

He still doesn’t understand the lie. Is he embarrassed? Defensive? All K wants to do is help. Does he not trust him? That makes sense - K is a stranger. That’s fixable, though! Not a problem. He’s being asked his name now anyway. Perfect opportunity. Introductions are the first step to no longer being strangers. Perhaps, if K is lucky, they’ll even be on their way to being friends. 

It’s not an uncommon question for him to be faced with. Humans seem to like asking it, or perhaps he’s simply a being that appears to invite it with his presence. 

Who are you? she asks, and what is his answer today? His name? Such an answer might be misleading, because his name isn’t who he is, it’s just something he chose for humans to address him by. If she wants his name, she might ask him what his name is. But K has learned rather quickly from being on Earth that humans often blur the two concepts when asking a stranger, so he smiles, and responds with his name. 

“I’m K.” 

In the event that she does, in fact, want to know who he is, he will of course explain. As he considers this in the moments after speaking, he tilts his head, face expressive of his confusion without him meaning for it to be. Perhaps she does want to know who he is. He is sitting in a place not meant for sitting, perched on a fence, and he did begin speaking to her as she passed with no prior warning. 

Ah, K realises. That would be it. That’s why she’s asking, that’s why she’s confused. It’s taken him a while to learn and he’s not used to it yet - humans don’t just speak to each other as though they’re already friends, if they’re only just meeting. It’s strange, and difficult for him to remember when all he wants to do is befriend them, but he’ll try. He scrunches his nose and smiles again.
