Gilbert: What are you talking about? It worked with you.

Anne: I'm his girlfriend which makes him ridiculously lucky.

Gilbert: So lucky.

Anne: Oh, you're not lucky to have me as your girlfriend?

Gilbert: I just said “so lucky”.

Anne: You said it sarcastically.

Gilbert: You say everything sarcastically!

Anne: Very well, although I wish you would not call me "my dear."

Gilbert: Why?

Anne: Because it's what always Matthew calls me when he's cross about something.

Gilbert: What endearments am I allowed?

Anne: Well let me think. “Anne" for every day, "My Pearl" for Sundays, and..."Goddess Divine"... but only on *very* special occasions.

Gilbert: And what should I call you when I am cross? “Mrs. Blythe”?

Anne: No! No. You may only call me "Mrs. Blythe" when you are completely, and perfectly, and incandescently happy.

Bash: You might as well put it in her cordi-lame glass.

Gilbert: Okay, Mr. Know-It-All, what would you do?

Bash: Okay, first you gotta get, like, 50 candles, right?

Gilbert: Mh-hmm?

Bash: You spread ‘em all over the room with some rose petals...

Gilbert: That’s right because the roses are beautiful and they make the room smell amazing.

Bash: Like a meadow in springtime.

Gilbert: Mmm...

[Anne comes in]

Anne: What are you guys talking about?

Gilbert: Nothing; guys talk!

Anne: Winnie and I.

Cole: So I guess you think Gilbert is hiding something.

Anne: He was, until I found out.

Gilbert: What was I hiding?

Anne: That you are two years older than me!

Gilbert: Anne, look, I'm sorry, all right? But they deserved it. I couldn't let 'em do that to you!

Anne: Me? You did that for yourself!

Gilbert: They were bein' real jerks!

Anne: The only jerk at that table was you! They were just being themselves. Introduce your poor orphan girlfriend, shake up the guys a little...

Gilbert: That’s not true.

Anne: I'm poor, and I hate it, I admit it. I even thought I was desperate, but I'm not half as desperate as you are.

Gilbert: What?

Anne: I don’t care.
