Hello my king,

I’m heading out this morning to get some groceries but before I did, I wanted to put something in writing.

I love you.

Yeah, yeah, I tell you this all the time but I know how important words are to you and sometimes, seeing them are far more powerful than hearing them.

So, to be clear: I love you.

I love your stupid horned helmets and how you have a “color scheme” as rigid as mine. I love how your hair feels in between my fingers when I brush through it and how it smells. I can’t name the scent, so I’m going with “Asgardian Musk” if you ever decide to replicate it as a cologne.

I love how you hold me when I get particularly upset and press your lips to my forehead as often as you can to cheer me up. I love how you look at me when I know we’re about to make love but we both know we should be doing something else like cleaning or going to visit the king for something important. It’s the perfect amount of mischief and desire.

Most of all, I love that every time I look in your eyes, I see that same sort of adoration reflected back at me. For all that went wrong that one weekend in Midtown, I’m glad we got it all right today.

I wanted to say something funny here, like how you should clean your library but I’m stuck on phrasing so I’m skipping it. Except for what I just wrote…dammit.

Loki could not fathom how it was that Cordelia seemed to think she was the luckiest out of them both, when it was she who had accepted him despite their history. She who had put into perspective what it meant to be a part of something greater and humbled a wild god.

Character #6: Clint Barton (Hawkeye)

Though runes are more favourable for him than tarot, it's something the god has dabbled in for fun amid a variety of such activities across the universe. Wine-couraged, he lays out the cards before her, doing a telling on their relationship.

“This speaks of your teaching me to be better, on how to follow the ethics of your world. Our world. It advises me to behave.” He grins. This card also brings the hint of a wedding in the future, although he chooses not to reveal that, lest he spoil its potential.

“A factor affecting us is our change in ‘jobs’, our roles differing whether as Avenger or Asgardian. There may be problems doing the things you used to now that you are associated with me. It will take time for us to achieve success, although it doesn’t negate it.

“For the past of our relationship, it mentions we had to fight to get where we are." He snorts. "Well, that was quite literal.

“For our future, there will be riches, or at least a reasonable amount of currency. Perhaps we will have a well-paid opportunity coming our way.

“The cards advise not to change much from what we are doing. It infers peace and apology where necessary.

“Surrounding circumstances are that we will be paying debts, more likely I will, and that we will be in a position to do so. It suggests there will be people in need who we can assist.”

“There may be some business hiccups so there needs to be patience. Another interpretation could be that we will get where we want to be so long as we can guide each other.”

Cordelia watches the presentation wordlessly. Now this doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to dive in and make comments. Regularly, phrases are rushing to the front of her mind and she had to rein them in. She accomplishes this by lifting her hand and making fast movements before her eyes.

This is his moment to explain and questions could be attended to later.

Throughout the reading, she can see micro-expressions cross Loki’s face. Now she couldn’t be certain, especially since Asgardians and Earthlings shared a lot of similarities on the surface, but she wondered if her old SHIELD training was right. He was holding back on something, maybe a few somethings, and the archer couldn’t tell if she should call him on it.

Her silent gesticulations would have to do.

Despite any of those concerns, she listened intently and with an open mind. Most would call this a lot of nonsense but after all she’d seen, Cordelia allowed herself to imagine everything Loki was telling her.

The idea of their fortunes improving over time, their connection deepening despite any debts to be paid along the way… Hawkeye couldn’t know just then, but she began to fantasize about the things he left unsaid.

A quiet proposal in a secluded garden.

A wedding to fit his status and her tastes.

A small nod from her and his trembling hand placed on her stomach.

Their love growing even as the signs of age began to touch her body.
