anyone else get the constant fear that there are unspoken social rules you dont know about (especially in new situations, like when i first started taking the bus, i was afraid i was doing it wrong lol) so youre just always on edge and kind of… watching how other people act so you can copy the “correct” thing to do
autism culture is seeing a post about ADHD culture that has a Very Relatable Feel but being unsure if you can reblog it because you don’t have ADHD
we are all neurodivergent in this chilis tonight
Cousins! :D
Woo! Cousin high five! :D
There’s also the third participant in the handshake:
Dude why does this tag make me so happy
that’s why I often write “neurodivergent” instead of “autistic” on my posts, because I know that people with add, adhd, ocd, depression, anxiety, etc. might also relate to it
Thank you
People have written a lot of touchy-feely pieces on this subject but I thought I’d get right to the heart of the matter

I think that now would probably be a great time for people to learn more about IWOC
https://incarceratedworkers.org/
We, the Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee (IWOC), are a prisoner-led section of the Industrial Workers of the World. We struggle to end prison slavery along with allies and supporters on the outside. On September 9, 2016 we were part of a coalition of inside and outside groups that launched the largest prison strike in US history. Resistance to prison slavery continues with work stoppages, hunger strikes and other acts of resistance to business as usual.
But it will take a mass movement - inside and out - to abolish prison slavery. We have hundreds of members in over 15 prisons and our membership continues to grow. We invite all those who agree with our statement of purpose to join us and to start a local group in their prison, city, or trailer park. IWW membership is free to those incarcerated, and is based on income for those on the outside. We ask supporters to sponsor a prisoner’s membership for just $5 a month.
IWOC Statement of Purpose:
1. To further the revolutionary goals of incarcerated people and the IWW through mutual organizing of a worldwide union for emancipation from the prison system.
2. To build class solidarity amongst members of the working class by connecting the struggle of people in prison, jails, and immigrant and juvenile detention centers to workers struggles locally and worldwide.
3. To strategically and tactically support prisoners locally and worldwide, incorporating an analysis of white supremacy, patriarchy, prison culture, and capitalism.
4. To actively struggle to end the criminalization, exploitation, and enslavement of working class people, which disproportionately targets people of color, immigrants, people with low income, LGBTQ people, young people, dissidents, and those with mental illness.
5. To amplify the voices of working class people in prison, especially those engaging in collective action or who put their own lives at risk to improve the conditions of all.

And all you teens can get involved right here!
https://incarceratedworkers.org/get-involved
IWOC is growing quickly and we can use all the help we can get to support incarcerated workers organizing on the inside. The best way to supp

hello someone on instagram made a document with a ton of resources on the movement surrounding george floyds murder and how to help and educate yourself. its updated very frequently and is super comprehensive and well organized, i thought i could share it here
it is NOT by the way NEARLY as detailed as this doc. ive seen this spread around a lot and it should be shared more than the one i shared, which is minneapolis-specific and not made by a black person. while the one i shared has compiled general tips, email templates, and links to helpful articles on how to be an ally, please share this one more, as it has all that as well as more drop off locations and contact info and more info for non-mpls protest help. rb this version
Working in a new direction and I love it so far. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu2resCA1hi/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=q8zdf63uhp8y

biscourse?
people get surprisingly heated over what the fuck a biscuit is.
Put a european and an american in a room with a plate of both kinds of biscuits and they lose their fucking minds and all suddenly become super patriotic
why would you bring up the Forbidden Biscourse
Because people should know what happens when a server is a 50/50 split of europeans and americans and the dangers it brings
cant believe the first ever hardline discord rule wasnt “no bigotry” or even “no horny on main” but in fact “no Biscourse”
meanwhile confused scandinavians and assorted europeans stare at this English Language Fuckery
The streets were painted red in the blood of native english speakers. Those that learned english gazed in horror as they have difficulty to comprehend just the sheer magnitude of power a small grain confectionery could contain.
No man knows not of the rage of that being the man whose language is questioned.
Not to mention the deeply held passions shared by the participants for bread and sweets. It’s the only true thing to be patriotic about in both countries at this rate and we try to encourage optimism.
# yall haven*t even mentioned the fact that it got rated 18+ # like for a food discourse it stays remarkably on topic # probably because the biscourse is a mockery of all other internet discourses # gets all of the argumentative energy out in a way that leaves you laughing at how utterly ridiculous the whole thing is # its ruined online arguments for me because they read just like the biscourse and then i cant take them seriously
look aeneas, some sins should be left to rest unmentioned many of us said things that we arent proud of things got heated
things got baking hot you might say
it didnt knead to get so heated to warrant the age gate but it did
Hey @thebibliosphere, as somebody who has lived on both sides of the pond and had both forms of biscuit, what’s your opinion on what a biscuit should be?
Biscuit to me will always be the UK kind. Cookie is a very specific type of biscuit, but I tend to use “cookie” universally because I don’t want to have to engage in “I love British people, I feel it’s my spiritual home. “Telly”, “bloody hell”, “crumpets” lol” thing that happens when certain people find out you’re from there.
US biscuits are always scones in my head too and I still refer to them as such, cause y'know, savory scones are a thing too. They’re not the exclusive reserve of preserves and clotted cream, contrary to things anglophiles say.
Holy shit, That’s what scones are?! Yeah, I can see thinking of American biscuits that way.
I mean, texture wise there’s a sizeable difference depending on where you are in the US, but yes they are somewhat comparable to a cheese or other savory scone which would not be out of place served with a soup or with a meat/gravy dish. I make cheddar scones that always go down a treat in winter when served with a stew or soup. Or I used to before immune system failure took away all the food groups.
A lot of US ones tend to be really…goopy is the only word that comes to mind, and it comes from the habit a lot of US bakers seem to have of melting butter to bake with rather than rubbing it in (side note for gf bakers: this is absolutely what you are doing wrong, the flour needs the support of the fat while it is still somewhat chilled and solid, stop melting your butter for gf cakes and rub it in to create a breadcrumb texture. It’ll help it hold together.), so the sugar and a fat just sort of sinks to the bottom of stuff and everything has this sweet, soft texture. That’s why “American Cookies” are often sold as “soft” or “chewy” in other parts of the world. Of course it’s only odd to my palate because I grew up in the UK where we tend to favor harder, dryer baked goods because back in the day that was how you made things survive the damp climate. A whole nation of people raised up on the equivalent of ships rations. And ideal for winter when you can dunk them in your tea, marvelous. I’m still mad about not being able to enjoy a chocolate hob knob dipped in scalding hot tea when it’s -30′ out, and I likely always will be.
Also I figured out a while ago what Americans actually call scones, are shaped like triangles because it’s a throw back to old Scottish bannock loaf bread, typically baked in a cast iron pan, the resulting servings of which would be cut up into triangles and called “scones”, and somehow that got translated over the pond into “dense fruit muffin shaped like a triangle”, likely because they had a sudden abundance of fruits, different grains and different climates to contend, which I imagine would play havoc with Grandma’s recipe from the 1600s. Especially when you consider how altitude affects baking and bread rise…
Anyway, that’s your impromptu cultural and history input on baking for the week. It’s almost like my blog was before all the vampires happened haha
