idk which one of them officially came up with the idea to get cats according to nora BUT imo it definitely wouldn’t have been neil neil doesn’t give one shit about other life forms unless they’re already part of his established group of close friends, whereas andrew by comparison adopts people left and right. when he found out these two cats were being put down (because they couldn’t be adopted due to behavioural problems or w/e) he would not leave the shelter unless they were coming home with him and there’s nothing anybody can say to change my mind also, neil is the one who doesn’t get along with the cats in the beginning, they’re always attacking him out of nowhere and it takes him a good while to form anything resembling fondness for them 

(bonus, because you know andrew definitely said something about neil’s unfortunate choice of clothing) neil: get over yourself andrew high waisted is trendy now sorry i’m fashionable and you’re not
