This tweet from the National Communications Manager at the Australian Dept of Immigration was in relation to refugee children who are seeking asylum, but instead are being held in a detention centre by the Australian Government. The article linked to is here:

What gives Sandi Logan the qualifications to determine the extremely fine line between children self harming and children attempting suicide? What part of PR school do they cover that in? It can be milliseconds difference between those two options. Children with deteriorating and obviously life-threatening mental conditions are being left in the care of people like this who find it ‘regrettable’. But to justify this inhuman treatment these people are happy to deny the link (obvious to the rest of us) between children who self-harm and children who attempt suicide.

Would you expect any executive for any organisation to know every specialist role in their responsibility, personally; or would you expect the executive to surround themselves with experts to advise, support and inform them, so that they may then let the experts get on with their expert work, and share the reportable with those who need to know?

What Chief of Defence Forces (insert any country here) knows what happened in any single or even multiple engagement, other than what has been reported to them by their experts in the field? Did they do the field hospital triage, and can tell you how many injuries were sustained and treated by counting those they attended personally? How many rounds were fired, how many nails put into a shelter for a humanitarian deployment, by the blisters on their own hands?

Who, of those who are qualified and experienced to tell the difference, as you require in your comment, attended these children? Did YOU witness inhuman treatment, or are you going on what was told to you, perhaps by different sources than Sandi, perhaps the same sources?
