I'm going to get this off my chest, but I feel as if some of you are mistaking wildberry being FORCED to care for himself and developing hyper independence as him being totally self-reliant and "Low maintenance".

I understand where many were many would come to such a conclusion, but it's very much hinting that he's still struggling with the trauma response.

Yeah, so, follow up to my previous WildChip post.

I like to think that gift-giving isn’t exactly a common practice in the Dark Cacao Kingdom no matter the relationship between the individuals, mostly because of the way they live. All Dark Cacao Cookie’s, in some way, strive to be completely self sufficient and independent, which means that giving gifts isn’t a very common practice - Especially between adults. However, when gifts are given, it’s always a bit of an awkward affair and the gift is always immediately useful, such as star jellies.

On the other hand, in the Hollyberry Kingdom, all forms of affection in nonromantic relationships are already at a ten, but when expressing interest in someone/when in a relationship, the romantical tendencies towards that person shoot up to one hundred. That’s pretty much the same throughout all age ranges.

On top of that, since the Hollyberrian Kingdom values creativity and self-expression, gifts are usually: 1. Things found at a market that reminded them of another person, 2. Something they commissioned specifically for another person, 3. Something they made themselves, or 4. Raw materials that could be made into something of the giftees choosing. And since Wildberry Cookie is a part of the royal guard/basically a prince, he has a lot of… options for his gifts, let’s say that.

I also have similar headcanons with the additional to Hollyberry culture not only being very big on gifting and displays of devotion, but the etiquette as well in which the order things should be done and how. You know formal titles and introductions as well as many other rules. Even writing letters is a big part of the courting process. This informs my take on why wildberry is very serious about sending letters that are up to par as well as the rules of courtship being why he feels as if his affection won't be requited.

Because from an outside hollyberryian view, it looks like wildberry is being led on into a situationship, which isn't helping any already lukewarm impressions on chip and wild dating someone of his status

It been awhile since I shook the table with we my wildberry rambles and I came back to do it again. I was thinking about how wildberry feelings on popularity and public affairs hit different when taking into consideration that was a child public figure or maybe even celebrity and at a young age to boot. He literally went from fighting what he thought was a random adventurer at the time to being adopted and personally trained by the queen of his kingdom and one of the most influential people on gingerearth and in a matter of days, maybe weeks or months. It was likely not only a shake up for him, but also the hollyberry kingdom as a whole class wise, because for a little boy likely from the underbelly of the kingdom to not only catch the eye of the queen, but to worth of her mentoring him as well as being about to weid a very important artifact of the kingdom couldn't go unnoticed by the masses.

So, think of all the rumors, nasty comments, and general many trying to leech off of him while he is young to get the status and power he will have once he gets older for there own gain prince or not. And the press, oh it would be a pain, positive or not, because they would likely spin his story as if it was some fairytale, even though he likely still has trauma he's trying to and kind of forced into a role model role for peers his age.

Going a bit into headcanon, but I think he tried to lean into at some point, doing his best to seem perfect, attending social events and held some, did everything to seem like the noble teen or young adult that had it all to keep up with his peers born into that life... but he crashed and burned out and all to learn the lesson; you can't please everyone, and it isn't healthy to do so. And I think that he's stepping away from it all right now and picking up the pieces to see what he wants to continue on with and what needs to go. He just at the point where he needs some distance and privacy to figure things out.

With the concept of wildberry and princess having a sibling relationship, why don't anyone talk about how they both are under massive pressure to live up to the role they are to inherit from holly: Princess being next in line for the throne and wildberry as it's future protector.

They would have to live up to the expectations of the grieving adults around them and have to compare against their peers. Even, tho they cope in very different ways, they understand each other on a level, even if they don't agree all the time. They just have that bond.

I also think that wildberry was very depressed about Princess leaving and likely opened up wounds surrounding Hollyberry's disappearance and the neglect and abandonment he faced as a young child. As well as Princess being scared to see him again because she feels as if she abandoned the only person that was so patient with her and gave her many more chances than others would give and think that he would be as done with her as other people around her.

The ‘Wildberry is Hollyberry’s adoptive son’ headcanon is perfect for many reasons but my favorite has to be that it recontextualizes Wildberry being hired by Jungleberry from ‘You are a very strong member of our guard and I put my faith in you to protect our former monarch and a very important political figure’ to ‘Please don’t let your mom get wasted, I am begging you, you’ve always been good keeping an eye on her’ and that makes the entirety of Odyssey infinitely funnier

I just as well as Jungleberry really wanting him to make sure hollyberry doesn't over do it, I thinkg she was also just constantly having talks with him and double and triple checking if he has or knows what he needs even down to stuff like, Your remember CPR? do you have extra money just in case? did you pack extra first aid? Don't get caught up with the boys over there, them over here aren't saints, but they are devils we know.

Just making sure (a bit more at royalberry's request) up til they left the kingdom's guards. Also not surprised if Jungle pulled hollyberry aside to have a "talk" especially with her asking gingerbrave to watch after him before they left for the republic.

but, with him being young being pretty defining and even him remarking about holly likely still seeing him as a young cookie, It's criminal how untapped the concept of him being her son is.

Me too bestie, double that with them being his caretakers after hollyberry left, because with all the potential of how that huge age gap affects their sibling dynamic and to the point of fine, I will make the content myself.

Looking into his personality, I can see where both rubbed off on him and they are possibly overprotective, since Odyssey implies it's his first mission out of kingdom as well as him generally having some negative feelings around being seen as a child with a hint of imposter syndrome.

But overall, I can see it coming from the place of we lost a few and refuse to lose another. I just want some content of this potentially chaotic family and jungleberry judging every boy he brought home extra hard.

P.S. I also have brain rot over dark choco being their brother and the polyancients as their parents.
