Jason overidentifies with victims. We know this. Jason sees himself and his experiences and the experiences of people he knew in the victims he encounters as Robin. (Whether or not you subscribe to Jason as a victim of childhood SA, Gloria and the dumpster murder victims all resemble more modern depictions of Catherine Todd, who was also shown to be taken advantage of by men who knew she was vulnerable and Jason was aware of it). So when Bruce says that Judy is wrong to avenge her sister, when he says that the corrupt justice system that allowed the murderer to go free to begin with is the basis of the morality Batman and Robin must adhere to, when the best plan of action he has for stopping Garzonas is deporting him so he can continue to rape and brutalize women where Bruce doesn't have to look at the victims- Jason does not perceive it as Bruce talking about random women or case files.

Jason can not detach himself or compartmentalize like Bruce does because it is literally retraumatizing him every time he goes out onto those streets to see powerful men abuse women and get away with it. So what Jason hears is Bruce, The Batman, his dad, saying that Jason and his mom would be acceptable victims if their circumstances were different. Bruce can not, will not, protect him. Bruce sees the lives and possible redemption of the people who have hurt them as equally important or even more prioritized than their safety and closure. Because the law said so. And everyone knows illegal vigilantes Batman and Robin have to fight for and work with the law!! I would not want to stay with that man either! That man who believes that even if I didn't push him, even if I just didn't save the seriel rapist, I would still be guilty. Because retaliation from victims is equally as bad as the initial abuse of course.

Like, you don't see Zukka shippers ever complaining about their ship not being canon, they are just like "yay we got some Zukka content in the movie" and then they have fun making fanart about it and writing fics like a normal shipper enjoying a fandom would.

But Zutara shippers are so set on wanting the ship to be canon that they hate on not only Kataang but Zukka and Maiko too. And everyone that disagrees with them is obviously a misogynist and they hate Katara.

I'm not telling you to stop shipping Zutara, i'm telling you to stop raining on everybody's parade, the show isn't bad written because you didn't get what you wanted.

but like can anyone see vision in a platonic yandere harry for Ron? Or like an obsessive type of friend or anything that showcase a certain possessiveness towards him?

I mean Ron was always Harry first choice for me , that what it seemed,first friend, other than he wanted to be in gryffindor because he was with his first friend (also Draco first impression and slytherin introduction and there reputation didn’t help but I digress)

he literally said that the the week that he hadn’t talked to Ron was thé worst time of his life…

mind you this boy was targeted by a dark wizard and was trying to get him killed , he was locked in a small room under the stairs and his aunt family were awful towards him yet the worst time of his life was when Ron didn’t speak to him!

plus the moment in goblet of fire when they got Ron in the second task? The one underwater putting the one he’ll miss most? Like come onnnnnn

It is insane that zutara and kataang shippers have existed for as long as they have and they still haven’t figured out how to exist in the same space without stepping on each other’s toes but it is very annoying watching SOME zutara shippers mischaracterize one character (Katara) while villainizing another (Aang) while completely disregarding the writing in the show, comics and the movie in order to prop up their ship while putting down kataang.

It’s totally fine to ship what makes you happy and kataang shippers aren’t completely innocent in this situation but just because you like Zuko and you aren’t happy with the canon ending it doesn’t mean that kataang was the wrong ship to go with or that it doesn’t have good writing. Some of the talking points that y’all have been regurgitating since the show ended and still are is getting ridiculous and stale.

No, Katara wouldn’t have wanted to be with Zuko because he was more mature. Zuko actually wasn’t that much more mature than any of the other members of the gaang. No, their age gap isn’t weird she’s only two years older than Aang. Just because Katara came off as “motherly” it doesn’t mean that she was a mother figure to Aang and that’s definitely not how Aang viewed her. She was a 14 year old girl who was forced to be a little bit more mature because of the circumstances and if anything being around Aang allowed Katara to act her age more because she was also a kid.

No, the writing for them was not bad and if anything the writing only got better in the comics and now in the new movie. No, their relationship did not lack chemistry or is boring. They have a pretty healthy relationship and both of those characters are happy where they are. You can ship the ship that you like without diminishing Katara and Aang as characters as well as their relationship. And there also needs to be a deeper conversation about how some of you mischaracterize Zuko as well despite some you supposedly liking him.

Wanted to redo this post because my original wasn’t well conveyed and I feel like it was prone to being misunderstood. Also I was informed on why this post could upset some people and I want to apologize for that. I really wasn’t trying to attack any ships, I was just responding to some of the things that I was seeing being posted but I think I could have worded this better.
