today in my halacha class, it was suggested that the “all or nothing” approach to observance and mitzvot comes from the yetzer hara. I think you could take that out of context and go on a rant about how liberal movements of Judaism are anti-Torah garbage, but I think the gist was that praying for five minutes is better than not praying at all, and the idea that we have to pray the full service, rather than on our own for five minutes, is misguided.

When it comes down to it, the fundamental difference between the various movements of Judaism is not how observant their followers are on a left-to-right spectrum, but how they answer the question, “What is the Torah?” Everything else is merely a natural consequence of the differing answers to that question.

I like this a lot, but I think its logical conclusions might lead me to question my practices and commitments.

My partner is not Jewish and only a little supportive of my chosen path. It surprises me how much resistance is coming through, like why are you suddenly vehemently anti-"organized religion" and how did you never mention it before I decided to pursue this? Where are the little antisemitic remarks coming from whenever we get into an argument or you're feeling jealous? This is what's causing me pain right now.
