Whatever you do, don't think about:

Simon not ending up being sent to the Manor when he arrives, and the Egos arranging a search party. Don't think about him hiding in the woods bc why do these strangers know my name?? Don't think about the moment he hears the worry in their voices and realizes that all of these people actually seem to care about him.

Don't think about Simon letting himself be found only to be tackle hugged by the first person who sees him "Omg we were so worried, are you hurt?!" And feeling more love in those few seconds than he had his entire life.

Don't think about Simon fully breaking for the first time, falling to the ground nearly choking on his sobs, as all of these strangers hold him and rub his back and tell him that it's gonna be ok. Don't think about him believing that he must be dead, because life has never been this kind.

Whatever you do, don't think about Simon being too exhausted to even stand back up, and one of the Egos carries him home. He hasn't been held since his mother died, and the bittersweet feeling just makes him cry harder and cling to whoever holds him. Don't think about exhaustion winning, and Simon slowly drifting off to the rhythm of footsteps and quiet chatter of his rescuers.

Don't think about him waking in a wildly unfamiliar place, with painted walls, wooden details and furniture, bathed in soft yellow lamplight. Don't think about him running his fingers over the soft blankets and pillows because he's never rested on something so incredibly soft and warm and safe.

Don't think about him trying to get up only to hear a voice gently shushing him and nudging him back down. "It's late, child. You're safe here, lay back down and get some rest. You've earned it."

Don't think about Simon, curled up under blankets that smell like safety and warmth and home. Feeling someone rub his shoulder as new tears spring forth from the relief of it finally being over. Letting his eyes slip shut and finally feeling the years long tension drain from his body.

Look at his face when Ava can't see him. You can clearly see hope twisting into distrust and fear, looking behind him in paranoia. It's dark and he keeps shoving his whole body closer to the light of the porthole:

Compare that to when they are talking face-to-face, his eyes go almost completely dead, he's baring his teeth, the light in his eye is red instead of that sparkle we saw in the first photo:

Hope is not easy, and for it to get you through the darkest moments, that hope has to be stronger than it all, so no.

• Grace immediately clocks that Simon is just an itty-bitty baby boy. He sees how Simon looks at everything with such curiosity only little eyes can possess, how Simon flinches at everything even small noises- that's a real tiny boy right there!

• Oh Grace adores tiny Simon. He loves that he can pull out his teacher side (Grace jokes to himself that maybe he should've been a kindergarten teacher) as he sits Simon on his lap/infront of him and shows him all the cool science-y things, telling him in terms that a younger headspace can understand yet still makes it fun!

• Simon 1000% tried to surpress his regression, he didn't want to be vaunerable, especially around someone new! But, eventually he just broke down and started sobbing because he accidentally nicked his finger on one of the lab slides (he was trying to help Grace) and saw the little beads of blood and got very scared, he felt like he was back in the sub again!!

Grace is instantly there, grabbing a tissue and covering Simon's finger so the little guy doesn't see the blood! Grace starts talking, honestly rambling to distract Simon from his overwhelming fear! He tells Simon he's doing so good, Armando will fix him up, make sure no yucky bugs get in his finger and Grace will be right there the whole time!!

• When Simon is tiny he wants to be a helper! He likes helping Grace n' Rocky! Of course he's much too tiny to handle specimens so they give him smaller task of finding out which whiteboard markers are dried out, showing Rocky stuff in the screen room (aka: Rocky babysitting and the two are just watching tree videos) etc♡

• Rocky is so fascinated by this! Simon is much taller and stronger looking than Grace but here he is, seated on the ground clutching a blankie and curled in on himself while Grace is running his fingers through his hair. Someone so big is so very tiny!
