Favorite Song:

Aki- “Finish Line / Drown” and the 2nd “Blessings” I loved these songs because I really felt the love in this mixtape. This album was more of a gospel album to me and I enjoy gospel music. Even though I don’t identify with a specific religion I always found gospel music very uplifting and it gives me faith in my life’s path and reminds me that I’m protected.

Jon- “Summer Friends” I like this song because the intro reminds me of some Bon Iver shit plus Chance’s flow on this is so dope.

Why Should People Listen To Chance The Rapper:

Aki - Because he’s very authentic. His message is trying to spread joy and people need more joy in their life.

Jon - I’m inspired by what he’s doing not only for his city but also for music. It’s dope to see someone put a project of that size together just off of the strength of his friendships and community and I mostly think people should listen to Chance because his art is fun, uplifting and it has substance.

Favorite Line/Verse:

Aki - (Same Drugs)  “Don’t you miss the days? Stranger”

Jon - T-Pain’s line’s in (Finish Line / Drown) just because T-Pain is the fucking man and idk it’s always good to hear his voice

“WHY IS YOGA SO FUCKING LIT??!!!”

Yoga definition:

1. A system of exercises for mental and physical health

2. a Hindu philosophy that teaches a person to experience inner peace by controlling the body and mind

Akiala I (@akiala_i) interviewed Yoga expert and 2nd cousin of Michael Jackson, Yogurt O. Jackson to finally find out what exactly is so great about yoga.

Aki: “So why is Yoga so fucking lit?”

Yogurt: Well without yoga life is like walking through a gross alley and overhearing a random person talking to themselves in a dumpster but with yoga life is like walking through the laundry aisle and feeling that little tingle in your toes and in your spirit. I don’t know about you but I want as many tingles in spirit as I can get.

Aki: “Why do you suggest mixing weed with your yoga practice?”

Yogurt: Mixing weed (Indica and not a lot) with yoga is like mixing orange juice with champagne, which makes a Mimosa. Not only is the mixture delicious and perfect together but it creates a completely different experience and gives your spirit an extra boost of freedom.  

Aki: “What is your favorite yoga pose and why?”

Yogurt: Chaturanga, because it makes me feel like a mermaid or like a sexy dolphin that turns into a strong ass mountain.

Aki: “Why do you think more people should practice yoga?”

Yogurt: In a fast paced world filled with so many distractions, people never have time or maybe don’t care to make time to just be quiet and check in with their wellness. If you aren’t mentally at peace then you will be unbalanced in so many areas of your life. Yoga provides mental and physical health and these two aspects might be the most important in achieving a happy & successful life. Yoga also helps build community, well if you take group classes. Plus… yoga pants *winks*

Aki: “Where do you do yoga? And do you prefer to be in a group or alone?”

Yogurt: I consistently do yoga with a community called “Baseline Love” we get together every Monday at 7pm at 3 little birds salon (it’s $5). I really enjoy doing yoga in a group, especially with my friends! I loooove how diverse in gender, race and age the class is. After the yoga session we even set intentions for the week and/or talk about something we want to get off our chests. I love Baseline Love, I now look forward to Mondays because of it. 

Aki: “On a scale of baked potato to french fries how important is yoga”

Yogurt: Zaaaamn that’s a hard one…I’d have to say it’s very important like cheesy, lightly crispy scalloped potatoes important.

Favorite Song: 

Aki - (Track Uno): This song has repeatability. I would wake up listening to this and just have a great day. I feel like I can jam to it. It’s for all ages and backgrounds, even your aunt was dancing to it. It’s hard not to move your body to it. 

Jon (Got It Good): I just fucking love Craig David. Like, the last shit I heard from him was like 2004. He needs to be everywhere in music. CRAIG FUCKING DAVID GUYS.

Favorite Moment: 

Aki - (Anderson.Paak feature on Glowed Up) Every time I hear his (Anderson.Paak’s) voice I get so excited cause I know he’s gonna say something funny. 

Jon - (GoldLink’s verse on Together) I think my favorite moment on this song is GoldLink’s verse where he acknowledges he calls women bitches too much. I think it’s cool to see artistic growth from an artist especially when it’s socially conscious. I like GoldLink’s music but that’s like the only thing I was turned off by in his art. Excited to see him growing. 

Who do you wish was on this album?: 

Aki - (Janet Jackson & Thundercat) Kaytranada did a Janet Jackson remix and it sounds like something she would do anyways. She’s making a comeback in music and I think they would make a cool joint. Thundercat makes everything sound better and (mumbles something and then says “he’s my husband”)

Jon - I wish I was on this album. This shit is tight.

On a scale from Skittles to M&M’s what do you give this work of art?: 

Aki - Milky Way Jon - Sour Neon Gummy Worms. That’s such a compliment.
