All was well.
(Credit to @noorastudy for the graphic) So as the photo mentions above, this is a series of posts I will be posting for Back to School! I start school on the 5th of September, and so with around 1 week to go, I thought of posting a set of posts to get me back into the school mood.
These posts may include tips that I havenât yet tried and will try once school starts, hopefully they help you out too!
HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE AFTER SCHOOL
In school: As soon as your teacher gives you any homework/assignments, WRITE.IT.DOWN. Trust me, chances are youâll forget it later on. On the way home: Check your to-do list/planner/bujo and break bigger tasks into small sub-tasks. Choose one/multiple task/s on the basis of:  - Will you procrastinate on it later on? If yes, DO IT NOW.  - Will you be able to finish it before you have your snack/lunch? If yes, do it. At home: - As soon as you reach, check your to-do list/planner/bujo and take out the required books/other supplies you may need for all your tasks for the day and keep it on your desk/wherever you study. This will be beneficial for later as you have less reasons to procrastinate (the books are right next to you) - Get started with your task/s you chose to do in the previous step and finish it. - Have a snack/lunch (in my case). This is where you can check your phone and other social media sites. - Rest for a little while. If you feel sleepy, take a nap. If naps make you feel even more tired, either go for a quick shower or simply get started with a simple task. - Set a certain time to finish all your homework/assignments/studies for the day, and then reward yourself by watching your favorite TV show or YouTube videos, scrolling on Tumblr, reading a book, whatever you like. Avoid doing these activities during your study break, so once your done, you will feel like you deserved that reward. Some videos on the same topic that may help you out: 1. How To Be Productive After School - STUDY TIPS - by WaysToStudy 2. How To Be Productive After School // study tips + - by @studywithinspo3. How To Be Productive After School + 5 STUDY TIPS! - by Ways To Grow And thatâs it. This is of course, easier said than done, and youâre receiving advice from someone who has spent days just sitting in one place, procrastinating and sleeping really early, feeling exhausted, without even doing much. For the first few days of school, try not to be too hard on yourself. Youâll probably be tired and thatâs fine. Rest for 1-2 days (if you really feel like you have to) and then hustle harder with full force. If you donât feel that tired, then hustle harder from day 1! Tomorrowâs topic: How I organize my tasks + other task management systems
How to start a studyblr blog
One of the most common questions I am asked is how to start and run a studyblr. Some people consider being a studyblr means having a selection of certain pens or highlighters but that isnât the case. Having a studyblr is about being part of a community that promotes self-improvement, positive study habits and tips to help yourself and others reach their full potential. Below are a few steps I recommend when starting a studyblr:
1. Decide whether youâre going to start a new blog or a secondary blog. Most studyblrs, myself included, run main blogs and then a studyblr as a side blog. If youâre wanting to have a completely new account, follow only studybrs, message (via asks) with a link to your studyblr then it is best to create a new account. If youâre happy to continue on one account, then creating a side blog is a good option. However, when you use a secondary blog for your studyblr, it will follow as your main account. I prefer having my studyblr as a secondary blog since you can stay logged into one account (so much easier on mobile!). Plus if you wanted to run a collaboration blog, you can add other members. Here is so more detailed information about the differences.
2. Pick a username/URL. You can be super creative like me and just use your name! Otherwise, you can name your studyblr anything you want. Whilst most people have a study related username, that isnât totally necessary. Find something you like and use it! You do have the option to change it later on it youâre unhappy or think of something better.
3. Choose a theme. My best advice for a theme is pick something that is easy to navigate and nice to look at! Editing HTML can be quite difficult for first time Tumblr users, however many themes make adjusting the appearance of your theme really simple by using the tools on the customise page. Some popular theme makers include:
@pohroro
@modernisethemes
@cyantists
@magnusthemes
@sorrism
@acuite
@themesbyflorels
@roxiestheme
@felinum
@bychloethemes
@wonderfullythemes
Once youâve picked a theme, follow the instructions the theme maker has left in the caption of the post. When youâre using a theme, remember to leave credit visible to the owner. By removing credit youâre breaking the conditions set by the creator.Â
4. Make an icon. This is relatively optional. Most studyblrs just use a random picture for their icon however others create personalised ones just for their blog. You can create your own icon using applications like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva or Word/Pages. Canva is probably the easiest way to make your own, plus it is free! If youâre looking for something a little fancier, you can commission @annistudio to make one! Depending on the level of complexity, she charges between $3-9. She created my icon and it is so amazing!
5. Write up an introductory post. Once your blog is up and running, you should create a post to introduce yourself. Tell us a little bit about yourself, where youâre from, what youâre studying, your hobbies, etc. It is always nice to tag some of your favourite studyblrs! If someone has mentioned me or tagged #emmastudies in their post, I might see it and reblog it. Most blogs do the same! Making these posts will hopefully get you some new followers!
6. Post your own content. A great way to promote your blog is to upload your own posts. This can be anything, either pictures of your notes, advice posts, or infographics! Remember to update the content source and click-through links when uploading your posts. A little guide to taking photos can be found here. My editing process can also be found here. If you upload your own tips posts, feel free to submit them to @studyblrmasterposts.
7. Use popular hashtags. Before publishing your post remember to add hashtags. The most popular ones include #studyblr, #studyspo, #study. I track the tag #emmastudies so include that in your tags and Iâll see it! Most blogs also track their usernames so tag some of your favourites.
8. Join studyblr networks. Youâll often see these floating around Tumblr so if you see one, join it! There are ones dedicated to people graduating in a specific year, others for specific majors, or people who share a common trait/hobby! Alternatively, you can be added to my studyblr directory. It is a collection bloggers which can be filtered by categories such as education level, country, and exam system. You can apply here.
9. Use the queue option. By using the queue option, you donât have to come on Tumblr every day to stay active. Set up a queue, select the number of posts and when youâd like them to be published and youâre ready to go. This option is great if youâre having a bit of an off-week and donât fancy coming online or arenât able to access the Internet!
10. Use other social media platforms. Whilst studyblr originated on Tumblr, we have since diversified across numerous different social networks. Iâd totally recommend having a studygram! Mine is @emmastudiess if you wanted to check it out! Other accounts have YouTube (emma studies), Snapchat (@emmastudies), Spotify, Twitter, etc. Remember to provide links to your each account!
11. Be nice, friendly and polite. I think this is the golden rule for any blogger. Treat everyone with respect. Be kind when answering questions. Be grateful for your followers. Please, please, please donât send anonymous hate! If you receive it, remember to delete and block that person. The studyblr community is one of the nicest Iâve come across and we want to keep it that way.Â
12. Donât be afraid to message other blogs and start a friendship! Interact with other accounts by sending them an ask or a direct message. I cannot begin to tell you how many wonderful people Iâve connected with from the studyblr community. Iâd say the majority of studyblrs love receiving messages and would be happy to strike up a friendship with you!
I hope this can inspire you to start a studyblr or helps you set one up! Remember you can tag me in your introductory posts or uploaded pictures. Also, my ask and direct messages are always open if you want to chat xx

âłpt 1/pt 2
Dear internet,
Please give me all the advice you have on writing cover letters. Like, the closer you can get to literally just writing a cover letter for me, the better. Ok bye.
This is how I did the one for my librarian position. Â I hope it helps.
Dear Person Hiring for this Job,
I am writing to ask you to consider me for X position. Â This is a paragraph about why I want to do X position in general. Â It includes at least one personal detail and at least one job skill I consider a particular strength. Â It argues that I am passionate about this career. Â It is not long.
I have had the opportunity to gain experience in this job by - paragraph about my work or study experience. Â It should go from most recent experience back. Â Include some details about your responsibilities/achievements in your most recent or most important positions. Â If you have mostly study experience, give more detail about what exactly you studied. Â If you shadowed people, mention that. Â If your work experience is largely unrelated, try to shoehorn some of it in (e.g. I gained experience working with people by). Â You can supplement with relevant hobbies. Â (But if you do have recent, relevant work experience, you should largely be detailing that. Â Only embroider the other stuff if you need to flesh it out.) Â This should be the longest paragraph.
I hope you will consider allowing me to do X thing at your company. Â This is a few sentences about why I want to work at your company in particular and what I think I could bring. Â Try to mention at least one detail from the company website, so they know you visited it. Â This is a short paragraph that parallels the first one.
Thank you very much for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Person You Would Be a Fool Not to At Least Interview
oh my god thank you this is relevant to current interests
Two other points, to challenge whatâs being said above a little:
1) Remember that the person reading this cover letter wants to know how you can contribute to the company. Not how excited you are about the position: itâs all about what they gain. Try framing the whole thing in that sense â âYou would gain my X awesome skill that would help you Y with your mission.â âHereâs why Iâm awesome and a great fit for making your company go better.â
2) At the end, ask for the interview. âI am available at PHONE NUMBER at your convenience. I look forward to speaking with you about this great opportunity soon.â Maybe even say youâll be following up at a specific time and date. Ask for the job. People respond to that, and itâs a good way to fake confidence until you make it. Ask for the job.
Okay, three points. People reading cover letters get SO BORED going through them. Think about starting off with a story that relates to why youâre interested in the job, or that demonstrates a skill or a strong interest that would make you a good candidate. Be memorable â people remember stories, even (maybe especially) very little ones.
*hoards advice*
