It’s back with hugs, kisses, and more hugs! hugs.tf is a European-based charity livestream for TF2 helping Special Effect. Special Effect is a UK charity that helps youth and people afflicted by disabilities. By using technology ranging from modified joypads to eye-control, Special Effect helps people to play to the very best of their abilities. 

As of this year, hugs.tf has raised over £20,000 for Special Effect and is in their 5th Year, celebrating alongside TF2 and Special Effect’s 10th birthdays. You can catch the stream this weekend, April 21st - 22nd @ twitch.tv/hugstf. 

There’s all sorts of variety, such as scheduled showmatches between Ascent Europe vs Ascent North America, a live Joy of Painting segment with talents @darklitria and Squirrel_BVC, Mann vs. Machine with CeeJaey, and much more on the schedule. and guests ranging from members of top 6v6 ETF2L team Se7en such as kaidus and Drackk, to @kritzkast ’s host himself Agro will be attending as talent for the couch. 

Donations are now open, and you can donate with either cash at our donation landing page, or keys via Scrap.tf. As we speak, hugs.tf have currently raised around £4000 even before the weekend. If you donate over £10, you will be eligible for The Heartfelt Hero: a medal designed by XB33, @uberchain, and DarkLitria that shows two halves of a heart hugging, adorned with birthday ribbon swirling around in an anniversary celebration.

If you’d like to get involved or appear in the livestream, you can! Firstly, hugs.tf wants to show a collection of community figures to submit shout-out videos to show on stream at the start and end of breaks. If you are a contributor to TF2 such as a Youtuber or a content creator of sorts, you can make a short 5-10 second video (using a decent quality web cam or better) using the frame of “I’m X, I do/did X in TF2 and you’re watching hugs 2018” as the idea concept. Send a download link to [email protected] and it might be featured!

Secondly, for the Joy of Painting segment, hugs.tf is also accepting fanart! If you want to paint or draw along with the gang or tweet any fanart to our Twitter, it will be shared on stream during the segment, with a chance at a prize.

ESA Rewind is back for 2018!

The first international competitive 6v6 Team Fortress 2 LAN of 2018 is here. Rewind II will be a three-day event taking place February 16th - 18th at the Esports Arena venue in Santa Ana, CA with TF2 as the feature game once again for a prize pool featuring crowdfunding of over $13,000 USD.

The action will center around a tournament featuring some of the top teams in the world. Teams will fight against each other to advance to the invite bracket alongside the 4 invite teams, which are:

froyotech (North America)

Se7en (Europe)

Ascent Esports (North America)

SVIFT NA (North America)

froyotech will get a chance to defend its title, and Se7en will get a chance to contest it once again, as both have received direct invites to this year’s main event based on their placements last year and continued performance.

In addition to the tournament, there will be side events occurring during the breaks in action. The worldwide premiere of Ready Up: Competitive Team Fortress 2 film will be streamed on Sunday evening prior to the grand final.

The prize pool includes fundraiser efforts and limited products such as enamel pins and lanyards designed by Jasbutts, signed posters designed by Uberchain, signed mousepads, and more. Additionally, you get an in-game TF2 medal designed by Jasbutts, Uberchain, and SedimentarySocks for your support!

Heals for Reals: A Charity Stream In Memory of TF2 Community Member CornishGamerHen

On March 1st, 2017, community member CornishGamerHen passed away from taking his own life. A coalition of community members has come together to produce a charity event in tribute to CornishGamerHen. Taking place on December 9th and 10th on twitch.tv/kritzkast, Heals For Reals will raise funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The AFSP works to raise awareness, fund research, and providing resources for those in need.

Mike “CornishGamerHen” Krasny loved playing medic and was a dedicated member of the TF2 community, bringing humor and joy to those he played with. He attended FLAN, GXL, and played 6s and Highlander in the UGCLeague. Mike’s passion for TF2 was contagious, the impact he personally had on his fellow players in the community was huge and underlines the ability for gaming to transcend barriers and connect people. This event will include opportunities for people to memorialize CornishGamerHen, share personal stories regarding depression and suicide, as well as discuss ways to find help and improve mental health. Balancing out the very serious nature of our fundraising will be a diverse spread of light hearted and competitive TF2 programming.

eXtine and Lecrum will be hosting it from eXtine’s apartment in Portland, Oregon, they will be joined by as many guests as possibly, in person and online. 

There will be a medal distributed for donations over $10 as well as those competing in the ultiduo tournament. Please include your STEAM:ID in the donation notes.
