and like… i’ve never watched an episode of supernatural in my life, but it’s so nice to know this thing is probably going from one autistic gay bitch to another, at the tiny thrift store back in my hometown

warning, I’m gonna talk about Part 54 briefly, but without any major spoilers for plot, only some key character moments

anyways, there’s no way we leave this podcast with all three main focal points alive, aka john, arthur, and faroe. the best ending from a loss standpoint (no one new dies) is that faroe stays dead and it ends with some really good monologuing on grief. the worst in this case, we loose all three main characters.

however- there’s a third option and it’s really sad but basically wraps off every character arc perfectly. arthur’s entire arc is about sacrifice and grief and blame, and especially in this episode, he talks about how he has to make the world better for his daughter, even if it means he can’t stay with her. he holds himself accountable for the things he can’t be forgiven for.

meanwhile, john’s arc is humanity, but more importantly, humanity provided by parenting. john is taught love first by a mother figure, and then names something innocent after her and learns loss when it’s killed. he’s immature and irrational, but learning that being human means taking care of things that are weaker and kinder than you.

he’s smart. he’s sweet. he’s frodo baggins. he worships the ground she walks on and thinks the bloody footprints are even more sexy, actually. he’s rich but has all the time in the world for her. he’s autistic in the exact same way she is.

he even feeds into her need to be told she’s a good person, and the craving for affection that literally drives her character arc.

your best friend, your future lover, and a random guy only here because he likes murder or something. objectively they only work as a trio but they all want each other dead. two of them are dating but also recreationally play games for their body parts, and the third talks about the one of the others like how your dad talks about the friend in college who he might or might not have been bisexual about. however this “talk” is given to someone stuck in their chair. they only work sometimes because they’re all dnd ranger multiclasses. they’re all hyper-petty southern grill dads. they tried to be the count of monte cristo villains but were just the mean girls. they couldn’t even kill one guy correctly.

anyways, according to her I itched my nose twice, talked to her in a super serious voice about time travel, and then ominously said it was time for sleep and rolled over.
