Soldier 76. A hardass, someone who isn’t afraid to give orders despite no longer being in charge. He expects you to follow his instructions as well, still the same commander from all those years ago. He’s passionate with his morals and political views, and sometimes gets too heated if someone favors a tyrant. A man that won’t admit that he’s used to hearing a positive answer to every request. A man who tries too hard to protect the ones he loves. A man who blames himself too much. Though he has many faults and strengths to his personality, there are things even those who’ve worked with him for years don’t know. What do they know for sure? That no matter how demanding or rough he can be with his attention, he means completely well. Soldier has always grown soft spots for the people he cares about quickly, mother henning teammates that are just as old as him when they feel the slightest bit off. What his teammates don’t realize? How much more doting he lets himself be around you.

This is where you are currently. Getting in a relationship with Morrison had been a real journey, since the man was so focused on age gaps and such, but you could tell that he was genuinely interested and insisted on taking a sad old soldier out for dinner. Even on the first date he was already doting on you, waiting on you like no ‘commander’ ever would. He grumpily refused to let you pay the bill despite being the one to take him out, and would comment on how your ‘taste’ in restaurants (pun fully intended) was “pretty good.” You learned things about this man every moment that just made you fall into more love with him day by day.

You remember on your first date, how he was so flustered with his own actions, turning his face away while placing his vigilante jacket upon your shoulders. He said he’d noticed you shivering, but you hadn’t done such a thing, so you had your suspicions. However, you didn’t tease him for it. It was obviously something he personally wanted, and you weren’t about to betray his trust. Plus, it was really big and comfortable so why not snuggle right into it?

By the time you could call yourselves serious, he had become insistent that you call him Jack. Even in front of other teammates. The faces of shock that Angela had made when you called him by first name into the room during one of your checkups had been delightfully amusing. You’re sure that behind that visor he was always wearing around, the sappy old man was smiling too.

No matter if you’re a civilian or a soldier for the newly rebooted Overwatch, he’s still protective as hell. He plays it off as if it’s no biggie as not to freak you out whenever you’re injured (whether it be by talon or a malicious civilian), but he completely breaks down to tears in the hospital bed with you once you’re fixed up and clean. Any routines you have to care for wounds are quickly learned by him, and he is incredibly strict about you getting your rest and NOT. MOVING.

Whenever you’re ill, he takes off work to treat you for the day (or two). While many know Morrison as a complete hardass, he’s quite the opposite with you. Rather than that booming, commanding voice you hear over comms or fighting with his old friends who tease him too much, he gives a new tone when the two of you are alone. A new voice that you’ve never heard, something you don’t even think is coming from him at first. A softer sound, something of a whisper, gruff but full of so much care. The first time he does it is because of your headache while you’re sick, kissing you on the forehead while promising you warm soup. But as time went on, he began to use it more. Every moment that you were alone he would get this look in his eye. A little glimmer of love. He would croon to you from across the table, asking you if you needed more medicine for your headache after a long meeting. He’d use it while resting his head in the crook of your neck, or wrapping you in a finely knitted blanket he made himself. Even if you teased him at this point about his love to knit he’d just do a dorky snort and blush.
