priceless / shortcomings
1. priceless
Hands touch.
Eyes meet.
Silence snaps shut.
Hold it.
They can’t know.
You learn the role by heart:
guard yourself,
play it straight,
win by disappearing.
Freeze the feeling.
Conceal, don’t feel—
until you almost believe
there’s nothing there.
But you know.
God, you know.
You know the cost of taking this.
You’ve priced the truth,
watched the cost climb,
asked if honesty
is worth losing everything.
And still—
you see them..
Rich in ease,
reckless with joy.
They say happiness isn’t bought.
They never show the bill.
So what’s the endgame?
Love?
Freedom?
Breathing?
No one chooses this for you.
But the water holds.
And the heart—
once thawed—
learns how to float.
2. shortcomings
Drive to the hoop.
Whistle.
Travelling.
Turnover.
Slide your feet.
Hands straight up.
Late whistle.
Foul.
Two shots.
Box out.
Whistle again.
Over the back.
Fast break.
Head down—
whistle.
Offensive foul.
No basket.
Inbound the ball.
Five seconds.
Whistle.
Reset.
Set the screen.
Feet planted—
legal.
No whistle.
Pocket pass.
Open lane.
Gather.
Up strong—
glass.
It drops.
Crowd rises.
Hands lift.
A moment of—
Whistle.
Waved off.
No continuation.
Nothing counts.
Ball at the top.
Shot clock draining.
Hands up.
Don’t risk it.
Pass out.
Buzzer.
Change possession.
Play the game.
Blood, sweat, and tears
Don’t lash out.
Condition yourself.
It’s never enough.
