im doing this post to share with the rest of the world how things are in mexico.

so on august 3rd a 17 year old girl was returning from a party in the night. she was just a few blocks of her house when 4 police officers grabbed her got her on their car and raped her. they let her go, she went with her mom and they reported the crime and the government did nothing. because “there wasn’t enough prove” even though the girl visited the doctor and the doctor confirmed she had been raped. this is one of the many cases of police officers abusing women in mexico and like in the other cases, justice hasn’t been done.

after this, a hashtag started on the social medias called #NoMeCuidanMeViolan which means “they don’t take care of me, they rape me”and yesterday, people were marching on the streets. we are mad, we tried to protest with pacific ways on social medias, with letters, even dancing.

but now we are mad. we are mad that our voice is not been hearing. we need justice, we need respect, i don’t like to live with fear. i don’t like the feeling of leaving my house and don’t know if i’m coming back.

Hey guys. Mexico just had a protest because of all the rapes and dead women. It all started because 4 cops raped a 17 year old and the government is covering for them, they lost the evidence and messed with the videos to make it seem like it wasn't them.

Today we protested with glitter because the chief of our forces got glitter thrown at and claimed that was an agression. Nonetheless, he doesn't really believe the raping was an agression violent enough to put anyone on jail.

A reporter got attacked live on camera by another man and the mainstream media claimed it was a feminist attack. It obviously wasn't. Then a woman attacked another man, she wasn't a protester either. They were hired to erase the credibility of our protest.

We would very much like it if you could share all the information you found, although I know you won't find a lot. The same way woman all around the world supported your enormous protest with the pussyhats, we ask you to join the glitter protest.

This friday, hundreds (if not thousands) of women took to the streets of Mexico City to protest the 2,000 homicides that have taken place in our country in this year alone, as well as the countless rapes and other violent crimes against women.

Not only is the government not doing anything about it, but it is actively working to protect many of the men responsible for these crimes. The reason? That many of said criminals are also police officers.

The protests weren’t exactly peaceful. Police stations were vandalised and set on fire, monuments were written and painted on, and metro stations were also affected. I am in no way condemning this, because this isn’t a simple protest anymore. This is a revolution. And no revolution was won by handing out roses.

We are tired of being murdered, raped, beaten, ignored, and ridiculed just because we were born as women. We are tired of being hurt by the same people who are supposed to protect us. We are tired of having people be more outraged over some graffitied buildings and broken windows than over the thousands of women who have lost their lives and whose murderers go unpunished.
