Maori women, New Zealand, c. 1900.
What do you consider as woc/colored women? Do Pacific Islander/Filipino count? But anyways I really have so much love for colored women, you know they’re so much more fun, open-minded, weird (in a very good way), kinky/freaky, and so goddamn beautiful. 🙏🙏
pacific islander/filipino women definitely count as woc, but the term “colored” is a reference to American segregation and the way black woman was seen as a different gender than white woman—legislatively. if you check a white woman’s birth certificate it said “F”, but a black woman’s birth certificate said “CF” (literally “colored female”). its outdated and offensive to refer to someone as “colored”, which is why we’ve switched to saying “____ of color”
hope this helps!
Okay follow up with that ask, that was kind of a stupid question, I just got confused because of the name of your blog and most of your post are black women. Maybe I haven’t scrolled down enough to see if there are hispanic, asian, pacific islander, etc. Though I did see Yang from grey’s.
hey! the mods are all black women (american, though all first gen) and we started this blog to reshare images and historical archival material of black lesbians and bisexual/pansexual women in order to heal from the absence of representation and talk about how that abscence has affected our relationships with women of our own race, women of other races, ourselves, gender and mental health
“colored lesbians only” is a throwback to historic segregation of black and white people in america, which still exists de facto! our focus has been black women, but we do ocassionally reblog nonblack woc, which is why we changed our description. however, myself, i believe its important to maintain black women centric spaces, because there are certain issues specific to us (hypervisibility, hypersexualization, intimidating girls you wanna date/not being able to be angry at your partner, traditional ways of flagging like dyed hair is considered ghetto, always being the “man” in television portrayals of wlw relationships if there is a lighter skinned woman involved, etc.)
we are always open to sharing information for other wlwoc, we just forget! (there are also other blogs who do this) 😂
hope this helps!

When a woman looks at another woman with lust or fantasy, she does so with an inherent understanding of what it is like to be sexualized against her will. Because of this, female objectification of women comes with a vastly reduced possibility of unwanted dominance, harassment, or institutional power imbalance, making it possible for women to appreciate being dominated by someone who actually understands what it means to consent to submission.
