Life After College Begins...
I've finally graduated from college, and I can say that after 3.5 years of totally unhealthy habits, I've gained a considerable amount of weight. I started exercising in small amounts last week in an effort to ease myself into it. Going from sedentary to active is quite the struggle. Everything hurts, I have a hard time catching my breath, and I always want to quit. Every other time I've tried to get into an exercise routine I keep at it for a few days before I give up. The reason I decided to stop putting it all of today is because yesterday I went shopping. I was standing in the store looking at all the clothes I loved realizing I was scared to try any of it on. I was afraid that I wouldn't like what I saw. Sure enough, after finally trying something thing on, I bought a headband and walked out. Today, I went for a run. 5 minutes into the run, I was ready to quit. Walking? No problem. Running? Everything hurt. In the end, I was able to finish the run, and I've decided to make the exercise the first thing I do in the morning so that I'm less likely to put it off. I'm on my way to feeling a little better about what I see in the mirror. I'm not sure if I'll ever make it back to the weight I was 4 years ago, but it doesn't hurt to try. At the very least, I do want to be healthy enough to be able to run for five minutes without feeling like I'm going to pass out. Here's to new beginnings and the fight to be healthy.
