“I thought I was in love with you but now I know better – I kept falling for the fictionalized versions of people that my mind would create tiny truths glued together with globs of rumors and imagined back stories then spackled with a fresh coat of daydreamed dialogue each night before bed I’d shower you in fistfuls of glitter each time you entered my thoughts until anything real shrunk deep down beneath the layers of gunk and shrieking colors you were my masterpiece – masterfully hidden beneath expectations I wasn’t ready to admit the real you could never fulfill.”
