fairchildestof-them-all¡:
So, yeah, she should have knocked first. It was common courtesy, after all. But in her own defense, Rachel was in a rush, and she and Charlene had never been a duo for formalities, and never in a million years did she expect to ever walk in on⌠whatever this was.
ââohmygod, ohmygod, ohmyââ Rachel spun around and let her back face them, as if that was the best solution to the current problem. âCole why are youâ Char, Iâm so sorry, Iâ It was a dream, okay? And how is that what you guys are choosing to focus on right now?!â Rachel spun back around in disbelief before remembering why she had turned around in the first and quickly covered her eyes with a good-sized yelp.
âLook, I just need to know⌠Are either of you wearing clothes right now?â
âOh my god.â Charlene covered her face with her hands too in the hopes that when she looked again this would actually also be a dream but as she pushed her hair from her face, Rachel was still there. Part of her wanted to laugh even if the situation itself was entirely unfunny but still. Looking at her cousin, hands over her eyes, probably wishing she could scrub this moment from her memory forever⌠Laugh or cry, right?
Then Char paused for too long at Rachelâs question. Way too long. She chanced a look over to Cole, her mouth opening then promptly closing as she turned back to Rachel. âWeâre talking about you right now. Because- Because heâs Joey! And I thought you were into Keith so dream or not, we- we are totally focusing on your stuff. Maybe you should take a long hard look in the mirror and think about what youâve done,â she finished with a definitive nod as if that settled that. Ish.
âMaybe your subconscious is just mixing the two up⌠I mean, itâs not like you actually kissed him,â a pause, âOr⌠Were into it?â
âWhy-- Why am I? Why are you?!â Cole sputtered, only peripherally aware that no one in this room was making any sense anymore. This was a waking nightmare. He needed to be absolutely anywhere but here. âGod,â he nearly choked, âYouâre not actually into Keith, are you?â Which wasnât really something he had the energy to care about right now but he needed a buffer while he considered his exit plan.
And thatâs when he saw his shirt from the night before peeking out from under the bed. Thank god heâd worn a long sleeve. He snatched it and tied it around his waist as he shuffled out of bed into a sort of... crouch in a defensive position, backing away from them as innocuously as he could.Â
âL-listen! Nobody look at me or even acknowledge my presence, alright? This is for your sake. I-I donât---â He inched closer to the window, it was almost within reach. And maybe part of him was curious. Part of him really wanted to know what was up with Rachel and these, ugh, Salvatores. But that was something he would have to follow up on when he was fully clothed.
âAnyway, you guys have a, uh... A nice day. Iâm just gonna...â He spotted his phone, his jeans, and a single shoe nearby and decided that the first two would just have to be enough. He went to grab them and yelped in the general idea of a goodbye in one go.
And then he just booked it out of there.
