Not talking to him continues to be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I know that the second I give in we’ll both end up hurt. He was my best friend; all the silly things he didn’t like about himself I was madly, madly in love with. We would tease each other relentlessly and flirt and he’d pinch my lack of an ass at least once a day. We’re also both so stubborn, and in the end it was the thing that killed it. He couldn’t stand to be financially insecure and relocate to my city, and I couldn’t stand to not have my passions to pursue if I relocated to his. We both wanted the same thing, but also very different things at the same time. I’ve never believed in soulmates, never wanted to get married and definitely have never wanted kids, but for those four years he changed that. I still don’t want to get married, and I still definitely don’t want kids, but he is without a doubt my soulmate.

Over a year

It’s been over a year, Since I’ve had any contact with Elise. No messages, No social media, not a single thing. I’m pretty damn sick of people telling me that I just “haven’t let her go”. I’m not holding on to this due to some masochistic urge.

I feel like there’s no amount of kind of words that I can say to make her change her mind. Her reasoning for all of this is still beyond me and I’m no longer terribly depressed but I can’t help but feel that sometimes the world is wrong. This is how I feel. I haven’t threatened, I haven’t lied and it feels almost like everyone’s first instinct is to leave a situation or don’t interact with difficult things but I’m not that kind of person and I don’t think I should be.

Even if she won’t ever fall for me again or we’ll ever go back to being close friends. There’s no reason we can’t be normal acquaintances.The world may not agree with me and there’s not a lot I can do but, that doesn’t make it wrong.
