White Coat Ceremony
This was an amazing moment. Most of the people in my class seem really nice and I am excited to spent the next 4 years with them. Definitely a mix of all kinds of personalities, countries, religions, backgrounds, sexual orientation, and so on. It’s very refreshing to meet all these people in such a short amount of time.
Halfway through orientation week, we have only had two classes (Histo and HMB) so I still have a bunch of “free time”. Most of the activities have been ice breakers so I have been repeating my name and “an interesting and unique thing about you” over and over, but over all it has been a good experience. The atmosphere is good at least for now.
xx

God this website is so forgotten. Forgot to tell you! I matched at my #1 choice. I loved all the places I interviewed at but really excited to have matched at a place that I truly thought was perfect for me :)
So I’m done with medical school guys.
Does this make me 99.9999% MD?
Hey, can I ask about OnlineMedEd? Is it really useful? They say on the internet that it has errors and the content isn't good enough. But I took the sample and found it to be good. Are you satisfied with OME?
I used OME during MS3, then again in combination w UWorld for Step 2. Loved it and would use it again!
Matched to my #1
And I swear I’ve only cried 6 times today so far.
Omg I can’t believe it

Hi! I was wondering why you deleted your videos off of youtube, if i may ask
Didn’t feel like I could commit to it long term and I can’t half-do stuff. :)
I first want to say that I love your blog. I have a couple of questions, you probably get this question a lot but how did you know you were called to medicine? I've been thinking about my future and I've always been interested in medicine and anatomy,so I've been thinking about creating a goal to become a doctor. But my only experience with medicine is tv shows and I know that they aren't accurate depictions of being a doctor. Any advice for someone who is thinking about becoming a doctor? Thank
Yeah no it’s not like the TV shows.
But it is still v rewarding. I wanted to be a doctor for as long as I could remember. Sure everyone wants to help people, but I just felt medicine was for me. So I sort of had no one single defining reason or moment for going into medicine other than just “a gut feeling it was for me”. Along the way I’ve found that OMG THIS HAS MY NAME WRITTEN ALL OVER IT. It’s perfect for me. I get to help people, advance the field, show up, learn new things everyday about a topic I’m passionate about.
I recommend shadowing, getting involved with research, or if you are in between degrees/places try to get a job in a health care related field such as a scribe/EMT :)
If you could say anything to yourself when you were younger or teens/kids nowadays abt career stuff and the crap kids go through, what would you say?? Sincerely a kid who is having a new low
You will still feel like you are not going to make it RIGHT BEFORE YOU MAKE IT.
It’s going to be okay, it just wont feel like it until it’s actually okay.
Sorry you are going thru this new low, feel free to send me a chat. ::)
Can I ask how you picked neurology and what factored into it? I’m interested in neurology but my experiences as an almost MS1 have been fairly limited.
I LOVED my neuroscience class. I thought I’d keep my mind open, but figured it would end up being between Neurology, IM, and Psych.
Did research in neurology and LOVED it.
Then I scheduled my rotations by doing neurology first (loved it, sealed the deal) -> IM (liked it but too broad -> Psych (liked it, but missed neuro)
I recommend research as a way to 1) Learn some research skills 2 ) get some research experience and most importantly 3) learn how BROAD and AMAZING the field of neurology is :) good luck!
Congrats! I've been following you since just (or right when) before you stated med school. Even before Otis! I'm so excited for you to start your neuro residency.
I AM SO EXCITED I CAN’T EVEN.
Also, life before Otis? Que es eso?
