Wymack, shaking: *turns TV off*
Wymack: They did what I told them... I don't want to know. I don't. Want. To know..
It started off fairly normal, Neil made comments about the game and Andrew glared at the camera.
At some point Andrew got fed up with small talk and declared exy is the most pointless of the sports which launched Neil into a fake outrage.
It escalated from there and pivoted topics into conspiracy theories where Andrew took it to the next level and simply stated "And this is why I will never marry you"
To which Neil replies "I brought a ring to propose with after we won the game though..", pulls out a 15 dollar ring he bribed Renee to pick up during halftime, and chucks it at Andrew.
Neil storms off to the car, and Andrew says "Excuse me I have to go fix a situation" and leaves the interviewers gaping in confusion and mass panic to publish articles.

Kids I accidentally smashed my phone because I am an idiot. It still works but only if I use the stylus. I will not be able to buy a new one until late next week so there will be very limited supplies of gay cringe. My deepest apologies :,)

Andrew was minding his own damn business at home when Neil had come running in top speed. He had been wasting his day mindlessly playing videogames with Sir and King while Josten was out doing who knows what. It was somewhat peaceful. He missed it already.
“I’m home!” Neil shouted from the doorway, not bothering to take his shoes off before pacing into the living room, carrying a large box, bags all over his arms.
“Can you help me with these, Andrew?” he asked. His cheeks were bright red from the cold and his jacket wasn’t zipped up properly. Honestly Andrew felt like he was living with a child sometimes. Standing up, he walked over slowly, grabbing the large box from Neil. It felt oddly light, so he tossed it onto the couch and reached for the bags. Neil immediately shifted half of the bags out of reach.
“Not those ones. Take these.” He said, shoving the other arm of bags into Andrew’s face. It took an enormous amount of self control to not punch Josten right there. Who the hell demands help and then refuses it less than a full minute later? Grabbing the other bags, Andrew placed them on the ground and froze when he heard glass hitting glass.
“Did I break it?” he asked, opening the bag to check the contents. There were Christmas decorations in the bag. Gaudy green, red, and silver Christmas decorations. Choking back his disgust, he opened another bag and found more. In a third, he found tinsel and some stupid green thing that he knew without asking was a door wreath. He looked up at Neil, his face full of disgust.
“You’re kidding me. You went shopping for Christmas decorations the day before christmas eve?”
“No. Allison went shopping for Christmas decorations. I just had them dropped into my arms the day before christmas eve.” Neil explained, hurriedly walking away with the mystery bags and clearly going to hide them somewhere. Andrew was going to hunt those down the second Neil left their house.
“If you open the presents I am going to return all of them. Leave them alone, Andrew.” Neil yelled, shutting a door somewhere further away. Andrew made a mental note to reseal all of the presents after he opened them. Neil walked back into the room and stood in front of Andrew, crossing his arms.
“Help me set up the tree, ‘drew?”
“No.” Andrew spit out, moving to grab the giant box that was clearly hiding a plastic christmas tree. He yanked out the stand and dug out the base of the tree, shoving the two pieces together. He got the middle section of the tree attached before Neil came over.
“Wait, I think this thing goes under the tree.” he said, holding up a circular piece of red fabric. The monstrosity had gold glitter around the edges and little snowmen embroidered all over it. Andrew choked back his disgust and snatched it out from Neil’s hands, throwing it around the stand of the tree. After he got the tree put together, Neil came back over and helped him halfheartedly ‘fluff’ it. It was as tall as Andrew was and didn’t even vaguely resemble a real tree.
“What is the point of this, junkie?” he asked, taking the drink out of Neil’s hands and taking a sip. Whiskey. The little rabbit was probably going to drink it all by himself and never even say a word. Flipping Neil off, Andrew finished his drink and shoved the glass back at him. Belatedly realizing Neil had been holding two drinks. He took the second drink, probably meant for him in the first place, and drank that one too for good measure. Passing the glass back to Neil more gently this time, it was not missed by the irritating red head. To Neil’s credit, he just grinned and went and refilled both of their glasses.
“Allison said we were both grinchs and had some choice words on our version of Christmas so she is ‘Fixing it herself’ this year.” Neil explained, grabbing the bag that had tinsel. He strung some of it on the tree and reached into the bag, finding Christmas lights.
“And we care what she thinks…. Since when?” Andrew muttered, grabbing the lights from a struggling Neil and hanging them up properly.
“Since we got this junk for free?” he snarked back, grabbing the ornaments and passing half of them to Andrew.
Andrew decided the backyard would be a perfect place to bury her body, Neil could be buried right next to her so that he could listen to her whining and annoying opinions for the rest of his afterlife. He was building an elaborate plan of it for the next twenty minutes while they decorated the tree and Neil finally sighed in relief
“I think we are done.” He said, standing up and going for a third drink. Andrew glanced around and saw a bag off to the side they had missed. Standing up, he walked over and saw it was the wreath. He grabbed the bag and walked to the front door, yanking it open and pulling the wreath out. He slapped it on the door and then stopped and looked at it for a second. There were little snowflake ornaments on it, in between the tacky poinsettia flowers. The ornaments had small pictures of him and Josten in them. Pictures Andrew had no idea existed. One of the pictures was almost falling off the wreath so Andrew adjusted it and leaned down to see what it was.
He remembered that day perfectly. It was right after Neil’s first professional Court game. His team had just won and he’d spotted Andrew on the sidelines, ran over to him, and with permission had kissed him in front of everyone in the stadium. He had no idea why Allison would’ve gone through the trouble of finding all these little moments and framing them for him. What a pointless waste of reminiscing. But even still, he found it a little harder to keep a straight face than it normally was. Shutting the door gently, he turned and followed the tacky Christmas music Josten had started playing in their home. Maybe he’d send her a bottle of vintage wine this year.
How do you think Nicky felt, when Andrew chose Neil?
This stranger that joined their team, attractive yes, and many questions surrounding him. Everyone was interested in Neil to an extent, Nicky included. But Andrew is the one who focused on him, chose him, confided and let in.
But Nicky? The boy who had to raise Andrew, help him get his first real job, house him and watch grow? The one who tried at every turn to bond with him and show him love, give him a taste of what he should've had. The older cousin who was desperate for recognition and left his lover in Germany to make sure Aaron and Andrew had somewhere to call home, and someone to call family that they could rely on?
He was rejected at every turn. He was pushed out. Barely acknowledged except for extreme situations. Andrew stood up for him where it counted, and protected him. But he never let Nicky in. He never showed vulnerability to him, and he never once gave Nicky even a shred of the care Nicky gave him.
Yet Neil comes, and Andrew catches an interest in him that develops quickly into a full scale obsession. He doesn't break down walls for Neil, but he did give him a key to the door. He gave him a chance to learn Andrew inside and out.
How much do you think that hurt Nicky, watching them grow inseparable and watching Andrew learn how to love someone, knowing he's never gotten anywhere close to that level of care and respect?

He woke up alone. It was pretty normal for him so he didn't think much about it. Neil liked to get up at the asscrack of morning to go on runs before work. Andrew had the day off today, and he didn't have any plans. It'd be stupid to admit he was half hoping Neil would sleep in a little bit. Give his addiction a rest and spend some time with him.
Getting himself into the mindset that Neil wasn't just a far off dream had taken alot of time. Letting himself get comfortable sharing his space with a man was an adjustment. LIVING alone with him was a life changer. Andrew wasn't an affectionate person. He didn't let himself care what Neil did with his time. To an extent. When the rabbit spent all day training with Kevin, he'd admit that he tries to bribe Neil into coming home.
Home. Their home. That they shared. Together. It was a mess. Getting himself out of the comfort of their bed was a chore, but there was shit to do. And Neil clearly wasn't going to do it.
Hours passed by and he still wasn't back. His practices for the day should've ended by now but it wasn't suspicious for Neil to be a little late. The dumbass might be trying to run home. If he forgot the Maserati in the parking lot again, Andrew was going to make him sleep on the couch.
More hours. More waiting. Neil should've been back by now. Andrew did his best to ignore the fear creeping into his stomach. The worry. Neil's father was gone. Most of his inner circle had been taken down. His contract with the Moriyamas was solid. But he had no reason to be this late.
Andrew had to actively restrain himself from checking his phone every 10 seconds. There were no new texts. No missed calls. At ten he gave up being patient. He sent one message.
'Where are you'
Nothing.
At eleven, Andrew started planning Neil's funeral. If he wasn't dead already, Andrew was going to kill him. He casually called Kevin, Matt, and Renee and mentioned him, but no one seemed to have been around him recently. At midnight, the worry was so palpable Andrew could almost sink his teeth in it. He was losing his control. His fingers kept twitching for a cigarette, but if he left the house to smoke and Neil slipped inside, he might miss it.
Taking a deep breath, he smothered the worry and let something else fester. Rage. Rage he could feed off of. Where the fuck was he. What had happened that was so big that Neil couldn't leave a text. Not one call. No note. Not one single bit of god damn information. Andrew was going to rip him apart. He was going to bury him 6 feet under. He was going to make an example of him. Everyone would see just how fucking serious Andrew was.
Giving in to his own addiction, Andrew stormed outside, pack in hand. Flinging the door open hard, there was a thump. Neil fucking good as dead Josten. Sitting on their god damn doorstep. Exhaling a sigh of relief, and frustration, he mentally berated himself for not checking outside, Andrew stepped out and closed the door behind him slowly. Almost gently, if not for how hard his hand was shaking.
Neil looked up at him, there was no suprise on his face or phone in his hand. Silently, Andrew held his own phone up. Neil fumbled for his in his pocket and opened it. Dead. Go figure. Andrew was going to staple a fucking charge to Neil's dumb ass piece of shit useless hand.
There was a package by Neil, but Andrew ignored his curiosity for the sake of being mad. Not a word had been spoken. Neil knew better than to give excuses by now, so Andrew did what he did best. He waited. He stared at Andrew for a long time before sighing.
"You're angry."
"No fucking shit, Josten."
Neil looked away, for a moment before turning all the way around in his spot and holding a hand out to Andrew. The temptation to slap his hand was overwhelming. He could slap it, go back inside, lock the door, and leave Neil's sorry ass on the doorstep. If he wanted to sit there all night and feel sorry for himself, that was fine by Andrew. Serves him right for not saying shit.
But Andrew took it. Because Andrew is stupid. And Andrew needed something to hold on to to steady himself for when he was going to fucking gut him. He let Neil pull him down into a crouch next to him. They were close, close enough he could feel Neil's breath on his nose. He stared at the circles under Neil's eyes, his face was really pale. Andrew did not let himself give one shit. Let him be miserable. He deserved it.
Neil held Andrew's wrist and turned his hand so it was palm up and dropped the bag into Andrew's waiting hand. That was it? No explanation. Just whatever shit Neil picked up when he was out ignoring him. Andrew shredded the bag and found a small box in it. And then he knew.
"Is that a fucking ring, Josten?"Neil let out a long sigh and nodded.
"That was a bullshit proposal." Andrew grounded the words out around clenched teeth. Where were the feelings of joy? He'd read about proposals and had seen them. He wasn't overcome with the urge to cry. Or hug Neil, he didn't care what the ring looked like. He was pissed off, he was tired, it was cold as hell outside, and it was 12:30 in the fucking morning.
"I had to drive pretty far out to find the ring shop I wanted." Neil's voice was soft and hesitant. He was waiting for Andrew to tell him to go to hell as much as Andrew was.
"I'm not marrying you, Josten. Weddings are an expensive waste of time."
"So you don't want it?"
"Fuck off. I'm keeping it."
Neil's smile was way too happy for Andrew to stomach. Yanking his wrist out of his grasp, he stood up. Going back inside, he could feel more than hear Neil following him. After making sure the door was closed and locked, Andrew put the ring on his bedside table. He didn't open the box to see what disgusting shiny waste of money and promises Neil bought. And he didn't let himself hope.
He got changed and climbed into bed silently while Neil was in the shower. When he felt Neil fall into bed next to him he was tempted still to tell him to fuck off. He was always tempted to. Josten didn't deserve to be in bed with him after that bullshit. But he couldn't stop himself from rolling over and moving closer to Neil, reaching out an arm to pull him up against Andrew's cold body.
He hated Neil. One day, he was going to kill him. But for now? He was cold. He pressed a light kiss on Neil's shoulder and fell asleep to dreams of strangling the man next to him.
How often do you think Andrew considers Neil? And I don't mean considers his feelings or personality, I mean considers Neil's place in Andrew's life. This meticulous calculating man who keeps everyone at arms length, let a stranger into his life and in his arms. He let his Neil into doors that were not just locked shut, but barred and decorated with knives and fury.
How often do you think Andrew stares at Neil and thinks "What do I want from him, what do I need from him? How do I make him stay? What can I give him? What can he give me?"
Neil can't give Andrew everything. He can't give him the world on a silver platter and he can't give Andrew the answer to all his problems.
But he can give Andrew unshakeable trust, a safe place where one day, Andrew knows deep down, he can just be.
And that would be everything to Andrew. Someone he can rely on, someone he can let in that wouldn't hurt him. He'd have someone to wait with a light on for Andrew to come home.
Andrew's willing to create new rules for Neil, and open those barred doors. He's willing to consider Neil's place in his life and make adjustments to his rules set in stone, because Neil is an enigma in Andrew's life. A semantic error. Neil is something Andrew could never have calculated or prepared for. So he prepares with him instead. Andrew would give anything to keep that until the day Neil changes his mind.

Andrew woke up slowly to the sound of credits rolling, he took a moment before opening his eyes to take account his surroundings. He was warm, and surrounded on all sides by a body with a familiar smell- leather, cigarettes and cheap dollar store quality shampoo.
He was surrounded by Neil, invading all of his senses and gently coercing his way into the most private part of Andrew's life. Grabbing trust and pushing limits until the day that stupid attractive head falls off its owners stupid body. Andrew felt an arm around his waist, clasping his hand gently but firm enough to not fall lose. The other was wrapped around his shoulders, not restraining in any way. It felt more protective than anything else. Andrew would normally hate feeling like he was someone to be protected. He wasn't weak enough to let some 5'4 prick stand between him and the world. But.. it was different. He could save the fits for when Neil was awake. He made a mental note to tell Neil to fuck off about it later. The junkie still didn't seem to grasp the dynamic here, but he was a quick learner.
The body pressed against Andrew's back was warm, and completely relaxed for once. All of the buzzing, vibrating, irritating tension from earlier was gone. Neil was obviously completely at ease. He wondered what he'd look like right now, if his face was as gentle as his body felt. If his lips were as warm as the hands surrounding Andrew's body. But Andrew wouldn't find out. Not tonight. Not when the junkie was finally resting and any movement meant waking up the easily startled rabbit.
He settled for gazing at Neil's hand. The scars peaking out from under the wrist bands, the way his knuckles were pulled in odd directions from the scar tissue. The scars did nothing to take away from his physique though. The strong veins under the skin of his hand, and his perfectly sculpted arms. Andrew could memorize every detail, every mole and twist of his scars. All of the places his muscles tightened when he was grabbing an exy paddle.
He found himself subconsciously pulling Neil's hand tighter around himself, closer to him. Lightly adjusting his position so he could feel physically closer to Neil. Slowly drifting off to sleep, his jumbled thoughts straying further and further into nonsense, he mumbled "I should've found you sooner, rabbit." And drift away, back into a peaceful warm slumber.
