summary: You try to keep your distance but Ghost isn’t having it

Ghost brought you to levels of pleasure you’d never imagined of. The way he grunted in your ear, praising you for always being a good girl, his good girl. The way he’d keep you on the edge until you had tears and were a begging mess underneath him. Not to mention when he was impossibly deep inside you, hitting the sweet spot that had you seeing stars and chanting his name like a prayer.

However, the pure lust you felt for him eventually became more.

Him staying with you until you fell asleep and sneaking out before you woke up stopped being enough. Having to keep it a secret wasn’t enough. Mischievous glances from across the room weren’t enough.

You needed more.

You needed all of him.

But you knew you couldn’t have him. He’d made that clear when your rendezvous had started and you knew why he’d done it. Your work is dangerous and getting attached wasn’t good. However, only having part of him was destroying you little by little. You knew it’d eventually kill you so you decided to have none of him instead because the pain of not having him was less than only having part of him.

You started pulling away from him while you prepared yourself to end your arrangement.

You would turn him away when he’d knock at your door. You ignored his gaze even though you could feel it burning you. You tried your best to avoid running into him, but the base wasn’t big enough for you to never see him again.

You were heading back to your room when you were pulled into a supply closet.

“Shh, it’s me.” Ghost whispered in your ear before releasing your waist and removing his hand from your mouth.

You whirled around and smacked his chest. “What the fuck, Ghost!” You glared at him but looking at his eyes was unbearable so you looked at the shelf behind him.

“Why have you been avoiding me?” He tilted his head, trying to get you to look at him, but you focused on the bottle of bleach behind him.

“I haven’t been ignoring you.” You’re not sure why you felt the need to lie. Especially when Ghost seemed to be a human lie detector.

He grasped your chin softly and made you look at him. “C’mon now, darling.” Darling. “I know you better than that. You’ve been avoiding me for the past two weeks. Why?”

The time was going to come eventually so might as well do it now.

“I think we should end things.”

His eyes searched yours for a second.

“You think we should end things.” He seemed confused.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

You couldn’t tell him the real reason. “This arrangement isn’t working for me anymore.” Ok, maybe not the entire truth.

He let go of your chin and crossed his arms. He nodded as if he was contemplating what you’d just told him. “Ok, what isn’t working?”

“It just isn’t. Let’s just call it off, ok?” You moved to the door, not wanting this conversation to keep going but he was there blocking your way.

“No. You aren’t getting out of this. Tell me what isn’t working and I can fix it.”

“It’s not something you can fix, Simon!” You say frustrated.

“Try me.”

You look away as you feel a tear roll down your cheek. Might as well tell him. “I’m in love with you,” you whisper.

He stood there silent, unmoving.

“Can you please let me go now?” You speak softly, not trusting your voice.

“No, I can’t.” He grabs your cheek and turns your head towards him. His thumb wipes away your tears and it makes your heart ache. His other hand takes off his balaclava and throws it onto the shelf. “I can’t let you go because I love you with every fibre of my being. My every thought revolves around you. My dreams are about you in a white dress walking down the aisle towards me. Every breath I take is for you because I can’t imagine living without you and I don’t want to. You are my everything.”

Tears are streaming down your face and your heart aches with joy and love.

“Why couldn’t you say that sooner?”

He smiles softly and strokes your hair. “I’ve been trying for the past two weeks.”

You groan and plant your forehead on his chest.

“I’m so stupid.”

“Your words, not mine.”

You pull away and try to smack his shoulders, but he grabs your hands and places them on his neck. His hands slide down your body and land on your hips. He closes the distance and places his lips on yours. The kiss is slow as if he wanted it imprinted in his memory. The kiss said everything the two of you had been holding inside. You didn’t know a kiss could say so much.

You pull away breathless and look up at him.

“I love you.”

“I know.” He says with a shit eating grin.
